This and Diamond Dust Act 2 are probably my favourite tracks in the Sonic 3D Blast Genesis OST! Tatsuyuki Maeda's effort paid off when composing the music for this zone. The instruments at 0:01 and 0:15 sound impressively well-crafted as they heavily resemble a real nylon guitar and a string section! In addition, channel 2 and channel 3 both help richen the mix due to their chords filling out the track. Starting from 2:39, Maeda's fascinating PSG arpeggios can be heard. Not to mention, the bassline beginning at 3:51 is insane! Fun fact: The basis for Diamond Dust's theme originated from an obscure game called "J. League Pro Striker 2", for which Maeda also composed the music. Search up "Match Setup," and you'll see what I mean.
i looooooove finding/hearing all of these similarities between composers' work across different games. I've revisited the Daytona USA CCE soundtrack recently and heard similarities between Jacques' work in the Saturn 3D Blast soundtrack and Senoue's later Sonic Adventure work... the J League soccer track is wildly unexpected, thanks for mentioning it!!
With the Genesis being 1988 hardware driving this 1996 music, it really makes you appreciate what can be done when composers learn every last in and out of their tools. I'd love to also see some SNES oscilloscopes from some of the more-complex side of Kirby Super Star's tracks (notably those from Revenge of Meta Knight) and Kirby's Dream Land 3's tracks (notably Grass Land 4, Ripple Field 1, or Iceberg)
@@tonstad39Aren't PSGs and SSGs 70s hardware and not 85? @@Antluvstrains lmao anything is better than the sonic chronicles version. Mines just very basic and not that accurate. I might try making it again at some point in the future though
Probably not. The N64 doesn't have a channel-based soundchip, meaning songs are all done as one piece and basically impossible to break down without resampling the whole thing.
@@memelord1790 actually, the N64 uses a Sample based music system, the console lacked a soundchip, but the sample player was made entirely with cpu power, and the tracks can be deconstructed!
Even though they do use synths reminiscent of the Genesis, they can't actually be deconstructed because the music doesn't come in channels that can be separated.
This sounds like Credits music.
