Quite surprised you didn't talk about ultra greedier himself. More than half of his attacks are either rng bullet spam or triple/quadruple/quintuple shots that have no telegraph. This makes the best strategy to fight him to have so much range that you are able to harm him without even being able to see him, thus making it one of the most boring final bosses in the game.
+ if you have explosion immunity it is extremely difficult (probably actually impossible with pyromaniac as red heart characters) to die to his 2nd stage since most his attacks are explosion based, making him even more boring of a fight
I did contemplate including him, though like quite a few people, I personally don't have too much of an issue with him. The actual gamemode itself is arguably more problematic than Ultra Greedier, so I wanted to focus more on that. I might make a dedicated video for Ultra Greed/ Greedier in the future however.
I think an unmentioned issue is that you have to unlock greedier. 500 coins requires multiple runs and being forced to beat it again on an even more unfun mode is really aggravating
@@mrdabrow idk, there's still stuff to like about it yes, but the things bad about greedier mode are the same things bad about greed mode, but just less so when it comes to greed mode.
One of the big reasons I personally hate greedier is the fact that you get almost no resources. In regular greed you get enough coins to semi-consistently buy 2 items per floor. In greedier sometimes you don't get enough coins to buy a key and an item in the same floor. So in order to win greedier you're expected to: Deal with a champion spawning practically every wave; Kill the waves with almost no time; *AND* using half the resources you would normally.

Honestly, Hitbox and Esau really aren't all that deserving of the reputation they got I'll admit, I rode the bandwagon of dunking on them for a good while, but after giving them an honest shot a while back, they're really not that bad Sure, you're controlling two characters at once and if one dies then they both do, but like Just try to keep 'em together and don't let them get _too_ spread apart if they do get split up, I feel like folks really underestimate how nuts having a barrage of tears from two characters at once is, especially since they're not Tainted Laz, you can focus on stacking just one of the brothers up with all the damage and tears boosts with minimal consequences, if any Really their only issue is flight becomes a bit less of an insta-take because it can complicate keeping the brothers together, but I found making sure Jacob is the one to get it first is ideal because you can keep Esau in place with the drop button for a moment to quickly get them back together if necessary, can't really do that if it's the other way around [ie, Esau flies, Jacob doesn't]
Another annoying part is the boss waves are very unbalanced. Sometimes the so called "nightmare" wave is something light like a lust and envy, and sometimes the regular boss waves are completely bullshit. And sometimes it's the other way around!
hi there! I love your channel and videos especially editing but at least in this video the sound effects are much too loud and I can't hear what are you saying most of the time. I am not sure what can you do about it but correcting it would really enchance the quaility
In my opinion, is not that it is bad or challenging. If there was no "obligation" to play it, i think people would even play it more. I think the donation unlockables, and achievements are the worst part because you become tied up to this game mode untill you donate 999+1 coins. and for the difficulty that is to get to the donation machine in the first place, you will be spending most of those coins just to reach the end. Also there is the chance cap that keeps raising for each character who has already donated. So if the random gods don't bless you, you can be looking to 50+ successful runs, not counting the ones you will end up facing Double Bloat playing with Lazarus.
Funny story: Currently trying to get Godhead, requiring me to beat Greedier for both Greed unlocks as the Lost. I would've beat it first try if Ultra Greedier didn't hit me with a f***ing rock wave attack last second. Now I just suffer; and it's not fun.
This is a really well edited video which makes the kinemaster logo even more confusing. I wish i wasn't too poor to pay for bro to get better software lmao
I saw before I got the game (I am new to the game as of 2 weeks ago) that a lot of people didn't like the game mode so I ignored it for about 4 days or so, but after getting every nontainted character aside from J&E and the Lost, I decided to do greedier on every character. I honestly had a lot of fun doing it. I definitely see the issues that exist in the game mode, particularly with character imbalance, but overall the game mode felt a lot more manageable for a new player to get a feel for some items and characters that I otherwise never interacted with. Ultra greed/ier is unfun to fight against for sure though.
hey man, your video's are amazing! though I can sometimes barley hear ur voice due to the background noise. Other than that its appealing to watch, make more please!!
Great vid. Should've mentioned Ultra greed. My biggest annoyance is lack of enemy notice where they spawn. Also, my biggest annoyance with Ultra greed are two things. Him being able to regen health. Makes your low dsp runs even worst. His spin attack. Where good luck trying to dodge it with too high speed or low speed. I don't mind the low coins given. At least give some different rooms.
Came in expecting a good greedier review, came out only focused on how good the animation is. Ok, but in all seriousness this mode is the definition of “Better have a good run by depths otherwise you’re screwed lol.”
Despite being a more streamlined experience than the rest of Isaac Greedier is even more opaque with the intended way to deal with most situations and It's a direct consequence of being built almost exclusively around combat. The combat in isaac its fun but its janky on so many ways too, this coupled with refusing to do simple quality of life changes as marking on the floor where the enemies are going to spawn makes an overall frustrating experience, and I just been describing Greed mode so far. To me the biggest nail in the coffing of Greedier is using money (or the lack of) as the main way to increase difficulty, by simply making the game feel less rewarding it makes the experience become more frustrating. We already have champions, add another boss fight, take out one of the treasure rooms, make the shop smaller, make the arena smaller, don't let the player press the wave button mid wave, etc. There are many ways to change the experience with the intention of making it harder for the player that dont impact the rewards recieved. Also pls can we take out 30% of the treasure room and shop items that are clearly meant for exploration?
Honestly, my disdain for either version of Greed Mode stems from the fact that combat is down at the bottom of the list for why I play Isaac I vastly prefer the Zelda-inspired dungeon crawling aspect, the item synergies, and trying to rig a run to get as nuts with said synergies as I possibly can Greed Mode has none of the dungeon crawling, and while there is obviously going to be synergies still, rigging to get anything crazy is not only much harder but also just way less interesting in general But I also really can't stress enough how damn boring it is being stuck in a single, unchanging room where all you're doing is waiting for more enemies to pulp and it just feels so dragged out, and you have to do that for 11 waves, on 6 floors, for a total of 66 waves of a nothing-burger of a gamemode And don't even get me started on how you *must* play _a lot_ of it to make Lost an actual damn character-and also by extension make Downpour's mirror world a lot less nerve racking-because you have to put 879 coins into the Greed Donation Machine to let Lost have their inherent Mantle And, y'know, put 1,000 in to unlock Keeper
Personally, I think the main problem with Greedier Mode is absurdly low amount of money for how difficult some rounds are. I think both Greed and Greedier would be improved if each round had a set amount of money given once spawned.
I slogged through greed mode repetitive and grating gameplay, then I got 500 coins and unlocked greedier and discovered I had to do it all again. It was an easy choice to just cheat all my greedier runs.
What's really funny for me as I think about it, is that I don't have that many instinctive negative feelings towards greedier, but when I think about why, it's probably because I got all of these marks out of the way first so it's been a very long time since I had to think about it, and a majority of those runs were with me restarting until I got a good item, which most of the time ended up being D20, which I quite enjoy using on greedier, so that ends up blotting out most of the terrible times I probably had with this mode. The only character I ever willingly go back to this mode with is tainted keeper. It helps that he's probably my favorite character to play as, and his gimmick works well in greedier.
I do think that greedier is a good mode it’s Basically the home for t keeper and + it’s good for practice against enemies you struggle with peopel just sugar coat it like it’s bad when it’s either 1, they generally don’t like it because its boring 2, they just unlock it and say I when not even trying it and even lazy mattman plays it sometimes and he didn’t say he dose not like it it’s up to opinion or skill like you did on the t Jacob video brimstone or angle brim are great for ultra greedier coins cuz it can clear them. I just don’t find it how people hate it it seems they’re shitting on it with no reason.
Tainted Cain is also a really bad Greedier character, since a large amount of pickups end up as coins, and getting bad drops from item pedestals easily leads you to being extremely underpowered during the run, since you just can't use all the benefits T. Cain actually has.
Would Greedier be improved with an alt path? Like for example, maybe you can press the button AGAIN after nightmare mode, and fight a more difficult boss with no extra rewards, but a new portal opens that takes you to essentially a new gamemode, and you can do this on any floor, but it is very hard to do. Or make it to where if you open every ultra secret room the final one has a portal, or one of the curse rooms at random has a portal, etc. Because while this would expand on the mode, allowing for new bosses like Ultra Wrath, Super Ultra Pride, Ultra Lust, etc, it could feel like more bloat and even if it is fun, people already hate greedier so asking them to beat say 6 more final bosses on that mode per character would be ridiculous. Curious if there would be a good way to expand it and make it more fresh, with a potential for new unlocks.
Awesome animations, but i feel like the last two points are subjective and depend on the player. Especially the last point, which is just part of the challenge of each character
