    There could be several reasons why the paint wrinkled. My first thought was incompatible materials. the color coat may have been applied too heavily also without enough flash time between coats. when it comes to color you only need enough to cover the primer and appear even, same with the metallic/pearl coat. Now that you've applied shellac you may have to go all the way back to bare wood and start again.

      Thanks. I think it’s not enough time in between coats. I did end up sanding it down but didn’t have to go back to the bare wood thankfully.

      I agree. Start over. To me he was too close. Should have sprayed light coats, let dry thoroughly and sanded between coats. Using two varnishes or coating was a big mistake. Myself, I said screw it and purchased a R-500 LVLP Spray gun for my guitar projects. Right now I'm building a Billy Bo.
