I've been throwing a rattling Rogue for 40 years and still produces very well. Depending on where the fish are, as to which I use. Deep diving suspending, shallow suspending, or floating shallow diver, one of the first and best out there. Fished Lake of the Ozarks, Stockton, and Pomme de Terre and fished them all year. No live scope, just a Hummingbird Super Sixty flasher. Caught way too many fish to count. Works all year, and when you find the fish, you can usually slay them! Great vid Todd, you know what up.
I’ve just been throwing the jerkbaits only a couple of years now and I’ve finally got my rod, and reel dialed and a good selection of colors by ignoring the fact that I don’t have livescope , hell, as a kid I used to jerk jerk pause the Rapala “ broken minnows “ 😂 and I still have those jointed shallow lures and I added the Zowire Owners. I’ve also used Strike King for 50 years and I love the 300 because it works 💯🤷🏻♂️👍😎 this is a great confirmation for me to keep doing what I can to improve myself, even being over 70 and still love fishing 💯🍀🎣🍀
I love the jerkbait... I throw one year around on Toledo, Rayburn, and Lake Fork and it's tied on everywhere else I go to. It just catches fish and it's a bait I have a ton of confidence in... Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
Enjoyed the video and this is one of the baits I hated seeing live scopers start using. Lol. Nothing against live scope, it’s another advancement in fishing. I’ve been throwing one year round for about 7 years now. It works and I don’t have live scope…..yet. Lol
I absolutely loved the original RC stick in blue chrome and killed fish on it - cheap but very good- I never throw a jerkbait past early spring but I will be from on - Thanks brother!!!!🔥🔥
I understand what you’re saying, I truly do! I promise you I do, but the only two jerk baits I’ve ever been able to catch fish off of is the Megabass Vision 110 series jerks and the Berkley Stunna. I have to admit I’ve caught double the amount of fish on the Vision 110 series. But I love your videos and I appreciate your input so I’m going to give that jerk bait a try.
I used this really obscure jerkbait color on a highly pressured pond and I caught 7 3 pounders back to back it was insane and 1 fish at that pond was a good day
Is Lews going to make a direct drive (zero drag) , I'm not sure what to call it. A reel for big braid pad fishing frogging that you can whale on it without it slipping on the hookset? I ain't an engineer, but it seems like a good idea. They could call it the TC Duty
i don't understand using a fast action rod with jerkbaits. i bent a lot of hooks and lost a lot of big fish that way til i switched to a moderate action rod. kvd also says he locks down his drag with jerkbaits which i don't understand either. it overpowers those thin wire hooks. i keep my drag a bit loose, then loosen it more when fighting a big fish. I've landed a lot of nice fish that way
KVD upgrades his hook to thicker wire and his rod is built for keeping them pinned. He has a very unique set up and it’s fun to watch him boatflip fish on the jerkbait
I always thought "The Cadence" was misunderstood. I don't think it is a triggering mechanism because you jerked it 2---2-1 or 1-3-------2 . I think it was always about letting the bait get deeper or allowing the bass time to slowly swim up to it.
Thanks Todd you just saved me a bunch of money not buying Megabass. Oh wait you told me I need a bunch of colors… Never mind! Ok so my water is always muddy or at least stained. 2 foot vis would be very clear on the river. Any color recommendations? Thanks.
I tried the Mega Bass jerk bait and thought it was a good bait. But it’s really hard to beat the 300. That thing sails through the wind, much better bait. I would use it if cost more than the other’s.

No we don't ALL have rust in on our baits or in our boxes!!! As a Navy man, I ABHOR rust! I have a huge selection of (mostly) Megabass, as well as 6th Sense, LuckyCraft, Rapala, and StrikeKing jerkbaits that I take extreme pride in and care of. I always make it a point to shake off excess water before putting them away, into boxes that stay packed with silica desiccant packs. NEVER throw those away! They will SOLVE your rust problem. As for the plugs themselves, give me a pearl white (stain reaction) or clear blue (pro blue) 90% of the time. I employ a 7'2" Megabass Destroyer Windbuster w/a Shimano Vanford 2000, and 7lb Sunline FC Sniper for my jerkbait fishing. There's absolutely NO DOUBT that spinning gear gives you the best casting and dancing action over anything else!

Exactly, been wrecking them on various rogues for 35 years, still my go to jerkbait
I got on a Mega Bass kick a few years ago and one thing I learned is that they will hang up just as quick as a $6 Smithwick rattling rogue!!
I’ll have to try one. But I love my TI and 6’10” Expride med fast is the deal I love it for jerk baits
Great video Todd !

Todd thanks for another great video
Thank you for the information! Great explanation..
Amen on the KVD stuff. It works.
Good show!!
Great video.
Preach it man. Money doesn't catch fish, fishermen do.
I have been a fan of KVD from the start. All my crankbait and jerkbait rods and reels have been influenced by him. Great video 😎❤️🎣👍
I definitely need to pick my game up and work harder on jerkbaits. Great video.

Thanks for the info. Bass Pro Shops reels are actually made by Lews the gears and such. Nice video
Not true at all. Many brands come out of the same factory. They are all different in several ways.

Floating Jerk baits has been the best baits to fish from the bank for years 4me.
Hey Todd. Where did you get that jerk bait tackle box at ?
Cadence only works in cold and fishing pressure.

Sounds like they're taking notes from KY Lake. TVA is the worst about dropping water levels during the spawn.
I like the deep 300 compared to other deeps cuz it casts so well. It’s a deep bait without the horrendously huge lip lime others so it casts better.

looks a lot like a Lucky Craft Slender Pointer 127MR. but 1/4 oz lighter and $10 cheaper. IMO, the future is in heavily salted soft jerkbaits.
