One thing that would go differently from what you said is Robin's story. She's either gonna get executed right after being captured by CP0 or if she ends up in Impel Down Iva would most likely save her on the request of Dragon. So at the very least in this Luffy-less universe Jimbe and Robin are still part of one team
Yeah my thinking too. Especailly after Egghead reveals.. Dragon wouldnt let Robin be killed or executed at impel, he would come for her and so would the Giants since they recovered Oharas treasure... knowledge
I don’t think she even gets captured by Cp0 at all. We already know before she met the strawhats she was able to constantly evade the WG and that the only reason she was caught was because she started to care about the strawhats

wouldn't she be killed by crocodile? Alabasta 'main' events would still happen without luffy. Crocodile had no intentions of letting her live after he used her. So theres no way she would have managed to survive, only luffy realized water was his weakness. Her dreams seemingly crushed and resigned to die.
I think if Robin stayed with Crocodile, she was untochble... They arrested Crocodile only because they didnt want to say that Mugiwara crew defeated a warlord, so they said that Smoker arrested Crocodile because of that.
Without Luffy, Smoker should not be at Alabasta, so Crocodile probably deal directly with government or with Doflamingo and so Kaido
Luffy is so dedicated that even if he wasn't born he'd find a way to be born.

This helped me get a better understanding on how to make a good protagonist - someone who heavily influences events and other characters in the story.
but also manages so that the plot doesn't become stale and the world keeps escalating even where the main protagonist is not present
Since Luffy's presence in the OP world IS quite important, I just wish his crew would treat him better.
I've lost count of how many times I've rage quit on the series due to the poor ideas of "comedy" the anime has, which mostly consists of beating Luffy to near death

He dont need to be macho or strong in front of his friends and he dont want to feel like he has a rope around their neck due to his strength he would rather just have fun and be free enjoy his life and stop anyone he can with his power that threatens that freedom

If Luffy never existed:
Koby doesn't escape Alvidas ship. Considering how weak she was, eventually she gets defeated. Kobys fate depends on who defeats them, but likely never becomes a marine.
Zoro dies after the marines betray their deal. Morgan still is captain in the marines.
Buggy sacks Orange Town and continues looking for Captain Johns treasure, eventually he would likely be arrested or if he stumbled into Arlongs territory, killed.
Kuro kills Usopp & Kaya and retires in peace after killing off his old crew.
Mihawk kills Krieg and Sanji remains on Baratie till the Vinsmokes find him and take him away. Gin might actually survive this encounter and either become a captain or stay at Baratie.
Nami gets betrayed by Arlong like we saw, but this time the whole town dies when they uprise. Nami either dies, kills herself or becomes a slave for Arlong.
Smoker never leaves Logue Town.
Laboon is killed by Baroque works, unless Crocus steps in to fight. Dory and Broggy are captured and handed to the WG by Mr 3. Vivi is found out and kept captive by Crocodile. Crocodile takes over and the bomb destroys most the city, without Pluton he likely kills Robin. Crocodile would likely be broken, as his plans would have been for nothing - likely regretting killing Robin as he will never find Pluton without her. Hard to know what he does next.
Bellamy doesn't change whatsoever, remaining a overconfident lackey for Doffy. Enel would destroy Skypeia and head out with his priests. If he goes to the blue sea eventually he causes a lot of Havok before being defeated (likely by an Admiral).
CP9 eventually find Franky and capture and torture him for the blueprints, which they may find and begin to rebuild Pluton.
Moria would eventually kill Lola and her friends, once Oars and his Zombies are ready he would travel into the New World and try to take out Kaido. He'd be killed for certain along with his crew. Ryuuma would likely be destroyed in Wano, so they would finally get back the sword and end the grave robber mystery. After his death at the hands of Kaido, Morias shadows would release, returning Brooks and allowing him to leave the Triangle.
Nobody attacks Saint Charloss, no Admirals come to SA, The 9 Supernovas leave unimpeded. Caime likely rescued by Rayleigh using CoC, if she ended up at the auction.
Blackbeard fights Ace. Without a Warlord spot open at the time, he won't be able to hand him to the Government. BB might kill Ace because of this. There is no prison break in Impel Down. Blackbeard can't gain access to the gates of Justice without Warlord status, and has no reason to go there.
There is no Whitebeard War, as there is no Ace to execute. Whitebeard likely remains in the dark about BB and Aces fate. Whitebeard remains a Yonko until a stronger Blackbeard kills him a few years down the line or he dies of age/illness. Sengoku doesn't resign, Akainu doesn't become FA until later on. Fujitora isn't an admiral.
Jinbei likely would have killed Hody, if not Pekoms & Tomago would have killed him sooner rather than later. FI may have been destroyed if Vander Decken still raises Noah. If Whitebeard is still alive at this stage then maybe some of his men kill Hody & Co instead.
Law can't become a Warlord, and likely gets killed by Vergo or Doflamingo. Caesar remains making smiles, and giant kids for Big Mom. Maybe the Vinsmokes never get an alliance offer if the science labs of Punk Hazard are still intact.
Dressrosa stays under Doffy. The Warlords never disband. Sabo never clashes with Jesus Burgess, never gets the Mera. Dragons HQ isn't discovered, likely there is no raid at the reverie. IM doesn't move forward on any plans without Alabasta involved, or Poseidon being discovered or BB / Luffy rise.
Kaido and Big Mom do not ally. The Scabbards eventually get killed on the promised day, Kinemon & Momo never escape Punk Hazard. The Supernovas likely remain bitches for the Yonko, with Urouge & Kidd eventually being killed if they continued to fight them.
Damm!! This was one of the best "What if luffy wasnt born?" theories i've ever read.
There would be an open spot for BB, since Moria dies by Kaido (depends obviously on the timing of morias death)

If Luffy was one week late to his adventure, lots of things would be different. You could rewrite One Piece based on that.
Alies would be different, enemies would be different, interactions, plans, the state of the world itself would a sight to behold
Thats actually incredibly interesting to think about, Zoro would already be dead at that point since helmeppo had planned to publicly execute him a day after luffy arrived to shell town so thats crazy he wouldnt have zoro on his team either, nami would have her gold taken so she would probably turn to luffy to help her rather than trying to turn luffy away, syrup village would have already been destroyed and usopp is dead, alabasta has been overrun by crocodile, shit a lot of stuff would go down, There would probably be replacement crewmates for zoro and that too, Id like to think that zoro gets saved by johnny and that other guy he was mates with when they were bounty hunting since they were near that area of the sea looking for zoro when usopp blew up the rock near them, but they wouldnt make it in time, yeah thats crazy bruh.
Edit: actually luffy wouldnt get caught in that storm and wouldnt be in that barrel, so he would actually start his adventure like he planned to, coby would also be not in the story, damn.

@@gamers-xh3uc No helmeppo said that he planned to execute zoro on the next day when he was at the pub when luffy overheard him, meaning if luffy was a week late, he would have been executed.
This is a great alternative story, however I have a few points:
1. Sabo's ship won't be sunk by the celestials. Luffy caused a lot of havock creating delays in Sabo and Ace's plans. That whole arc would play out differently and Sabo would leave on a different day. Meaning Sabo and Ace go on to becoming pirate captains of their own crews.
2. Sanji won't be found by Big Mom, because Judge will just offer one of his other sons for the wedding. Judge and Co didn't know the whereabouts of Sanji so they probably wouldn't want to waste too much time trying to find someone they thought could be dead by now anyway. Thus, Sanji lives out the rest of his life at the Baratie. Big Mom still slays the Vinsmokes and takes their tech though, but Sanji isn't involved at all.
3. Robin might not be caught by the WG. It was because of the Straw Hats that she ended up BY CHANCE on the same island that CP9 is busy with a mission on. She ran from the WG for 20 years, she'll be good carrying on. There's even a chance that she'd run into revolutionaries and they take her in anyway. So 40% chance she's good, 35% revolutionaries find her, 25% she gets caught by WG. Remember CP0 is dealing with trying to figure out Wano, so they're out of the question here. CP9 might be assigned to searching for Robin AFTER taking Franky to Enies Lobby though.
4. IF Robin does get caught, she won't spend the rest of her life in Impel Down. They'd either A) plan a public execution (because at this point they don't have Ace yet, and they love sending messages to the world), or B) make her dissappear (execute her in secret) after she refuses to cooperate with the WG. Either way she'll be in Impel Down for a short time not forever. THEN, Dragon WILL make a move. He told the entire Revolutionary Army to keep an eye out for her and save her at all costs. If public execution, Dragon enacts a surprise attack on Marineford (they won't be as prepared as they were with Ace because they wouldn't expect a battle like they expected against a Yonko). If secret execution, Ivankov and Co will contact Dragon from the prison and alert him that Robin is the new prisoner and from there they plan to break her out. (this can also be another theory as to why Ivankov stayed in Impel Down, to keep watch incase somehow the marines ever captured Nico Robin. Dragon believed Robin was of utmost importance to their cause).
5. Blackbeard won't use Ace to become Warlord. He was looking for anyone with 100+ million bounty. He'd just go after one of the other Supernovas. Remember chasing Luffy was the reason that caused Blackbeard's journey lead to the island that Ace found him on. His entire route from Jaya will be different. Ace will eventually find him and they'd still clash but probably only after Blackbeard is already a shichibukai. There's a chance at this point that he doesn't hand Ace over to the Marines because he already has Shichibukai status.
6. IF it still plays out that Blackbeard hands Ace over to the Marines (for whatever reason, doesn't matter), the Marineford war will happen yes, but Shanks WILL ABSOLUTELY still stop Kaido. Because Kaido's plan was to INTERCEPT Whitebeard BEFORE he reaches Marineford. Therefor Shanks would still want to make it possible for Whitebeard to reach Marineford, thus he will still intercept Kaido to stop him and therefor still arrives at Marineford late. (After clashing with Whitebeard, Shanks could tell WB's strength was fading and knew Whitebeard would not survive Marineford. Thus he also knew WB would not survive fighting Kaido in this condition, or if he does then he'll be way too weakened to even do anything at Marineford)
7. Because of point 6, Kaido will not show up at Marineford because this part of the story plays out exactly the same where Kaido backs off from Shanks and goes back to Wano. Rayleigh might not show up anyway, because of his age and because they all believe in respecting each other's journeys and battles. He can't interfere or force his help onto Whitebeard even though Ace is Roger's son.
8. Whether Ace lives or dies, Whitebeard still dies at Marineford because even he knew he wasn't going to survive. He just wanted to set Ace free. And because Blackbeard dies in Impel Down while Shiryu is still locked up, Whitebeard's Yonko spot is up for grabs because his territories will start to fall as other pirates don't respect Marco or Ace's name as much as they respect/fear Whitebeard himself. And the Whitebeard pirates after suffering many casualties (including the allies), won't be able to defend ALL territories. So Ace will have to grow some more in order to reach Yonko level to be viewed by others and Whitebeard's successor.
Luffy is the personification of someone who liberates civilizations and people,like everywhere he goes he saves them.
He is that Light in the darkness,hence why I can only think of very bad stuff happening if he was never born.
When the beacon of hope doesn't even exist the world becomes dark and infinitely times more cruel.
He has such a massive impact on the entire world of one piece.
He's supposed to have a impact, he's the main character.
Of course he has an impact on the world and strory, like any other main character. No main character, no plot.
i kinda agree/disagree. Most story that i've read make main character the center of the world in second half of the series but in one piece. In the very second arc (first if you're anime only) saves coby how ends becoming one of the big guns later in the story.

I also think Zeff is still a great fighter, probably knows how to use haki, and would have kicked Don Krieg's face in, but he chose to stand back and let Luffy fight because he saw something in Luffy, and he told Sanji to watch Luffy closely during that fight because he wanted Sanji to learn a lesson.
Mihawk would've killed him. He only stopped because fighting zoro ended his boredom. If luffy had not been born, zoro would be dead and would not have been there to fight Mihawk

I think Nika Ace would actually use Toon force to see Imu's lights and either deviate the beam away or escape before it strikes. Luffy did grab a lightning bolt after all

What I love about this is that even without Luffy, the world still spins. It's just that most of his friends die. It's very in line with his character of caring more about being a hero for his friends than for the world.

I don't know if ace would awaken like that, he was pretty depressed when he would be executed, if he died there he would not be on "synchrony" with the nika nika. When he died he smiled without regrets though, but that was only because Luffy saved him first, something would have to make him snap out of that sadness first for him to awaken.

I also think Ace wouldn't awaken because Kaido explained that an awakening can only happen when a Devil Fruit user's mind and body catch up to their powers, I feel like Ace would not be ready yet. The devil fruit after all haven't been awakened for 800 years it could go for more...

My biggest correction has to be Nami, and it is darker. The villagers, upon learning that Nami was betrayed, would have done the same thing and challenged Arlong. Nami continuing to chart and steal isn't consistent - she knows they all die. Nojiko and Genzo and everyone dies. She begins to stab her tattoo, as we know. But Luffy won't grab her hand after some moments. No one does. And even if she were to choose to stop stabbing her arm in that day, I can see the result being the same another day, once it sinks in. And once she starts stabbing, she doesn't stop until she's dead.

First of all, without luffy the gomu gonu no mi would be eaten by ace, shanks wanted to give Ace the fruit since he thought ace was joyboy, but the fruit chose luffy
Actually I don't think so because ace would have been different having not grown up with Luffy thusly making his interaction with white beard different which would change literally everything including teach getting his hands on his devil fruit. It would also change shanks trajectory so much his story would be unrecognizable.
I'm not buying that everyone dies at Marineford. I would like to think that strongest survives. Ace, Kaido, Shanks etc. Not sure about Whitebeard 😅

I was really confused when I saw this in my subscription box because I have been watching a smaller One Piece RUclipsr, named Pyro Prima, uploading an entire fan story surrounding the scenario of What If Luffy Was Never Born, and now suddenly Ohara talks about the very same topic, one year after he started.
Just been enjoying Oharas newest upload, and then I actually found someone who watches my videos. Yep I've been doing a detailed "What If Luffy Was Never Born", since over a year now. At first it was strictly about Luffys journey, however at a later point I shifted over to a more original fanstory.
Well...i would see it as an honor... manu's channel is pretty big in the community... if your theories get rewritten by channels like Liam's or Manu's, its not that far fetched. Means also your content is interesting and a inspiration to others.
There are tons of fanfictions and doujis with this exact same "what if"-scenario. Some of these fan projects are even 20 years old! its not a new idea

I honestly think it's a bit presumptuous to think that Shanks would have given the fruit to Ace or even that he knew Ace existed I think there is a possibility that he might have eaten it himself other than that tho I think Robin would have stayed with Crocodile because she would be to valuable to him also I think he would have teamed up with Gekomoria to try and take down Kaido so he could get the Pluton they would have obviously failed and Kaido would have found Robin in Crocodiles crew and offered her a good spot on his crew and she would have no reason to refuse a good deal with an emperor since it's a pretty safe place to be and with Robin at his side he probably would become Pirate King and would fight Shanks at Laugh Tale... As for Marineford it's a bit too presumptuous to say that Imu's erasure would work on an emperor class enemy we don't have enough info on it's capabilities yet...

You should do another what if set on a world where Luffy became a marine. As for Ace and Sabo, they would still become a pirate and a revolutionary respectively, making the three brothers stand on each of the three major factions of the One Piece world.

Well Camie and Papug die being eaten by a sea monster since Hachi never saves them in the cover story. Also i feel that Robin would tell Crocodile about the ponyglyph since there is no member of the D clan that peeks her interest. By telling Crocodile she can remain under a warlord and be safe from the WG even finding more ponyglyphs along the way. Crocodile would obviously plot to overthrow Kaido and can find an easy comrade in Moria.

I think Ace never had the mentality to become joyboy and therefore won't awaken the fruit. Also I guess the fruit wouldn't let itself be eaten by him in the first place. The fruit might search for a worthy owner for another 800 years 😅

7. Alabasta is destroyed, crocodile knows about plooton but doesnt dare attack kaido.
8. Chopper dies / goes monster point and wallops the hippo guy
9. Brook roams the florian triangle till his soul breaks
10. Nothing happens in saboady, no admirals were summoned

Etc etc
Basically everything is messed up

Ace wouldn’t get Luffy’s fruit because Shanks never knew Ace. Remember how Ace set out when he was first a pirate, he went to Shanks and his crew in a snowy mountain. He wanted to thank him for saving Luffy but Shanks thought he was there to fight and he didnt knew Luffy had a brother.

And to think about it, I feel like Crocodile and Moria could have an alliance against Kaido. Their goals just perfectly align. They will still not be able to do anything unless they will acquire some more powerful allies, but their war against Kaido might be much more impactful than we think. Ok, I reached the point of Marineford and I think these two will definitely fight Kaido as shichibukais, this will be a perfect opportunity to take him down.

There's no way the nika fruit wouldn't influence Ace to act in some circumstances as Luffy did. I think primarily Wapol is a definite target Ace would definitely, easily notice and feel compelled to interfere, probably earning Chopper as a crewmate as well as granting drum island independence and the Whitebeard pirate's protection, even if reluctant protection.
If the fruit influences people in that way anyway, carnivore fruits make people slightly more bloodthirsty, there's never been any indication of full on mind control, it's weird to assume it.
I'm not sure Ace would come back to life like luffy did if akainu puts another whole in his chest annihilating his heart...the drums of liberation was the sounds of luffy's heartbeat

I wonder if the fight between Teach and Ace would still have happened the way it did. Sure, Ace wanted to bring Blackbeard to justice for what he did, but Blackbeard's intention were to give Luffy to the Government, which made Ace absolutely snap and go into an all out fight with Blackbeard. Even if this fight would have happened, the result might have been different.
I am not saying that Ace would've defeated Teach but he might had the chance to trick them, given that he had different powersand maybe a bit of help from crewmembers this time. I know as well that Blackbeard's Devilfruitpower is kind of OP with the whole erasing of Devilfruit abilities but maybe Ace had stronger Haki at that time, given that he had no protection from the Fire-Fire-Fruit

Honestly. If you believe in the theory that fruits pass on the personality of its previous users/or changes people's personalities then you could come to the conclusion that the story could have been exactly the same if it was ace. Minus the marineford arc. Or that that's where it would start having major changes, as instead of whitebeard, it could have been all the people ace helped and the remaining members of the roger pirates and the straw hats. Honestly I could see that being the original idea if that arc was the original ending of the series somehow which I personally think that if oda would have stuck with his original timelines marineford would have been the end.
Ironic that I post this before full spoilers of this week's chapter.

I think you skipped over the part of Shanks talking good about Roger to Ace. Ace knowing that Roger did what he did because he was already dying, saying Roger was trying to make sure the future could happen, and explaining why everything has happened the way it did. This could of changed Ace’s viewpoint of Roger as Ace hated Roger due to how people talked about him and how Ace’s life ended up. Imagine having a good influence near him, aka his adopted older brother there to talk to him about things.
It's all fine but why are you considering that all the yonkos would just die. They are the strongest people on the planet and together can't they survive one attack? Even if it's barely still I believe that they would survive the island blaster attack and the story would continue.

Theory time, the reason Shnaks was able to talk with the five elders is because he is rocks d xebecs son. There is a video on Shanks and why he is rocks son, but let's consider he is, Rocks was trying to destroy God valley or kill everyone there (I don't know the specifics), but, as we know, God valley disappeared without a trace, hinting that Imu could of wiped it off the map. Considering this, Shanks was able to meet with the gorosei, as an "Exception" because his father had the same goal as I'm Sama, to destroy God valley

Here are some other changes like:
- For Hancock she would have either sublime to her love sickness killing her in the process like the previous ruler or that since she said no to Momonga then she will become a target of the Marines even before the War begins
- Since Came would have been sold off then Hachi & Pappag would've risked their lives to save them
- Without Sanji setting him straight then Duval & the Flying Fish Riders would continue being thugs who deal with Human Trafficking
- Without Luffy & the Straw Hats not interfering then on Little Garden Mr.3's plan to have Dorry be killed by Brogy then after he is weaken then Mr.3 can collect the 200,000,000 Berries for Baroque Works can use that money to fund for Crocodile to take Wano since Kaido may have died during Marineford
- Kin'emon, Momo, & the children that Caesar was experimenting on would have been stuck & even die on Punk Hazard while Law would have been captured by Monet & Vergo thus giving Doflamingo the ability to get him to use that eternal youth surgery which would kill him
- Speaking of Dressrosa every citizen like Kyros & the contestants of the Tournament would be still forgotten remaining as toys along with Viola being his tool & Rebecca is killed
