Personally, i think this wing is highly underrated. A lot of people complaining its rubbish or poor flight times. But all i see is an amazing craft with an amazing experience
It gets like 40 mins stock. I modded mine from the stock 3,000mah battery, to two 4,000mah. Just finished the mod yesterday, so dont know flight time, but should be close to two hours.
My Disco and all the equipment for the 4G mod should arrive just before Christmas. I’m also doing the upgraded Li-ion 18650 battery pack upgrade to 10,800mAh. Here in Australia unlike the US our cell towers radiate vertically as well as horizontally so you can get 4G cell data coverage up to 20,000ft, so the higher you go the better the coverage which is the opposite of the US. Well done on you mod and keep up the fantastic videos! Enjoy flying yours around the beautiful Portuguese country side. Many thanks, Mark.
Very nice video... very honest, nice flight, nice postproduction... I like the fact that you don’t hide the issues/stress you might have. By the way, when you use RTH, the disco will go up to the highest altitude reached during the flight... that’s why it climbed to 142... he remembered going this high at the beginning of your flight... Dustin had to manage this same behavior during disco tests... Congratulations, you now have the equivalent of the Delair UX11... (military drone... 14000€...) I had the same dream as you... and only the disco made it possible (and I use Auriga and headtracking for even better feeling of being in there... free as a bird... )... Thx for sharing... ;)
Awesome. 14000€ will come in handy :-) Later in other flights I noticed the Disco go upper some meters when I press return home. I should not go upper than 120 meters but the ground is not flat and there are stuff like buildings, trees, power lines and stuff. Thx for you comments.

simply great... no need Ocusync, no need any signal, just 4G network and you can fly few meters over terrain, behind the mountains, all obstacles... just fly everywhere, where is 4G... its magie...
Your 4G Flight is the very nice project. I'm amazed. May be use the solar panel on the wing, it might work for more power durables. On the other hand, may be you must less your breath and "pofff" act in video :)
Why is there so much hate for the Disco? It's the only FPV fixed wing I've found with such a great camera. I prefer the cinematic quality camera over the cheaper Go-Pro's that some people substitute with.
What can I answer? There are Parrot haters anyway. I had my problems with Parrot drones and a lot of fun with them. There are a lot of people who olny sees Dji. Dji is excelent so what? Disco is nice too. It is diferent.
@@Helderhugo I mean DJI is great but I agree, there are plenty of great drones available on the public market and I think Parrot definitely tried to make fixed wing as popular as quad rotors. I wish I had got into drones back when they were still making the Disco, I most certainly would have purchased one.

Just bought one off ebay and cant wait to fly. Nervous a bit, but I have a DJI Mavic 2 pro. Great video, thanks for sharing. Never thought about using Glympse. Like DJI, there is an altitude default setting for the RTH, this might be why the Parrot is climbing for the RTH. Can you please describe in detail about the softmod upgrade and steps please.
Nicely done :) Next time by landing, just before landing try to move the left stick towards you. It will slow the drone so it could make softer landing ;)
A big bonus for you I see straightaway would be a 5200mah battery, a long battery life is safer as you dont have to land continually because of battery. I get well over an hour and a half with mine, bought on hobby king for £25. Its the controllers battery life that will go first! Some slight cutting to fit it carefully be careful of lower wires but Im above them, then a ribbon cable to connect usb modem. I find take off and stability good with this battery I wanted a 4400mah battery but they were out of stock but the 5200mah is perfect
Ah I suspected that with your 30 minute flight time! It looked like the parrot one. Try the VR goggles with it for 20 euros you have a pair and it's more immersive...

Excellent demonstration of flying via cell 4G. Its a shame parrot discontinued the disco. They could have least continued to sell the chuck and handset.

You should fly into the wind at the beginning and use a tail wind to come home. Return to home will automatically increase altitude to avoid crashing into structures.

hehehe. This was my dream too since a young kid and I never imagine one day I will do it. The 4G modem have it's own anttenas but I didn't put them on. Then one day when I was in college, (I think it was 1990), I was asked to help demonstrate cameras at a trade show in Las Vegas. It was called N.A.B. This is a big event where many manufacturers come to show off their new video equipment. I was there for 5 days and I remember in the trade show right across from our location, there was a company showing off a 3 meter long helicopter with a BIG camera underneath! It was designed to fly remote control. I thought WOW ...it is now possible to make videos from the sky! I knew immediately I had to do that. The only problem was this helicopter cost US $100,000. This was just too much money for me! So I waited many, many years but I never lost my dream. Then last year I bought a DJI Mavic 2 with Hasselblad camera. It is really really good but it has so many things to learn. Also I really like how fixed wing planes fly so I recently bought a Parrot Disco Adventure kit. Then I looked here on RUclips for more information and I see this guy named Helder that stole my dream! Ha Ha Ha! No, I actually I enjoy your videos so much I watch them again and again! I was thinking how expensive, dificult to pilot and dangerous those machines could be. And if they fall or crash into something how much damage that could make. I see your using the hauwie 3372 4g dongle. I also have one of these dongles I'm trying to get it set up and I'm using a Mac computer and a at&t sim card it is just saying sim card not detected I have the 18 gig hotspot plan on the sim and it does work . and I took it to the geek squad they couldn't do anything with it either. How did you get your dongle setup? Thanks in advance. Awesome mod and video 👍
I have just followed the instructions on the softmod page. It is complicated to explain. I think it depends on Country and the carriers. I use PC and android.
Are multirotor able to do this? I have read that the C.H.U.C.K can be used for multirotor, rovers but you wouldn’t be getting the video. Ardupilot software. Hope that changes and we can. Not that there is anything wrong with this. I am probably going to do this with mine. Awesome!

Such a crime this model is no longer in production but it’s price was ridiculous! 4G should be adopted by the drone market and manufacturers of fixed wing aircraft should be using this technology
Drone manufactures know about this but if they put it on their newer models then they can’t bring out any other ones and they lose the *STRONG CONNECTION* side of marketing

I noticed that in RTL/RTH mode, the nose of the aircraft pitched up by 5 degrees, and your speed reduced to 28km/h because of this, even after the aircraft attained its RTL altitude of 146 m.
Thank you. Yes. Unfortunatly we have to pay 2 carriers. One on the pen on the Disco and other on the smartphone or tablet. And it consumes a lot of data because of the video transmission and receiving.
I don't know how much but it use a lot for sure. It depends how often you use it. I have 7gb of data in one sim card and I never spend all of it in flying per month. Maybe 2 ou 3 fligths only spend 2 gb. I didn't remember well. In the other sim card I have unlimited data.

hello, I had a question, while flying the parrot disco, the video is recorded in the memory of the parrot at first, then I have to transfer it to the phone, I wonder how can I record the video directly to the phone,,,thank you for your answer,,greetings,,
you have to lunch from a open field...becouse if the connection have a problem and it returning home...it makeing a Autoland in the radius of takeoff position. You dont want to autoland over your/neighbor house :) , Thas why it important to wait finding satelites before takeoff....also after takeoff is good practice to try RTH to see it it coming in the right place, and then start your long range flight :) , also use of a separate GPS Tracker is advised (glimpse wont help much if connection is lost and No RTH).
Just curious if there is special permission required for this type of flight? In the USA technically need to have visual on any drone for duration of the flight...perhaps there is a way around this with POV?

Mine was the normal 2600mah that came with the disco, fitting the bigger battery was the best thing I did on it apart from the softice mod!

I recall an Indian manufacturer is copying this model, I don’t know any more. I saw a modeller flying this in 4G in Hawaii and he few over 25 miles!

As i know some people add it to 525 glider (which is also rare and can't find any tutorial on youtube), how about transplant to ar wings pro? Is it just plug and play?

I noticed that in RTL/RTH mode, the nose of the aircraft pitched up by 5 degrees, and your speed reduced to 28km/h because of this, even after the aircraft attained its RTL altitude of 146 m.

Thank you. Yes. Unfortunatly we have to pay 2 carriers. One on the pen on the Disco and other on the smartphone or tablet. And it consumes a lot of data because of the video transmission and receiving.
How much GB for 30min Flight do you think?

I don't know how much but it use a lot for sure. It depends how often you use it. I have 7gb of data in one sim card and I never spend all of it in flying per month. Maybe 2 ou 3 fligths only spend 2 gb. I didn't remember well. In the other sim card I have unlimited data.

you have to lunch from a open field...becouse if the connection have a problem and it returning home...it makeing a Autoland in the radius of takeoff position. You dont want to autoland over your/neighbor house :) , Thas why it important to wait finding satelites before takeoff....also after takeoff is good practice to try RTH to see it it coming in the right place, and then start your long range flight :) , also use of a separate GPS Tracker is advised (glimpse wont help much if connection is lost and No RTH).

Just curious if there is special permission required for this type of flight? In the USA technically need to have visual on any drone for duration of the flight...perhaps there is a way around this with POV?

Can parrot disco fly without engine propulsion, once it is airborn
I never thought about that. Maybe without propolsion it will eventualy loose altitude and fall.
