Thanks for the post!! I did go with the Spicer version....same part without the Ford logo and about $110 cheaper delivered. For torque....I had specs of 33 ft lb for the mounting bolts and 22 ft lb for the drain/fill plugs.
I kinda wish I did go spicer...the lettering on the Ford Performance plate came off after a few months anyway, WTH. I should be getting the front spicer cover in shortly before my 30k mile services. Hopefully it fits.
Nice vid , dog lover lol. I have a 21 250 with the sterling axle , wish Ford performance had a cover for it . I also used the Amsoil 75w90 gear oil and it seems good 👍
Millwright gearbox and turbine trick. Use a whetstone to take off that gasket and smooth over the high spots. Union millwrights call them “money rocks” cuz endless hours are spent stoning surfaces for precision fit.
Great video bro! Just confirm, if I get the Lube Locker gasket I can simply just put it on and bolt down the cover with no silicon/sealant right?? Thanks!
I noticed you did not add the Motorcraft friction modifier that the manual calls for. I think it's XL-3. Is there a reason why or have you had any issues by not adding it?
I actually haven't heard reference to a friction modifier for the rear diff. Maybe that was for the 2017-2018? The 2019 Raptor supplement lists Rear axle fluid: WSS-M2C942-A Motorcraft SAE 75W-85 Premium Synthetic Hypoid Gear Lubricant XY-75W85-QL. I made my fluid choice based on forum reviews and recommendations. You can also search for products for your vehicle on Amsoil's website.
If the rear diff is an electronic locking diff it doesn’t require friction modifier. If I’m not mistaken ford stopped using limited slip diffs in most of not all trucks
Friction modifier is useless on a "open" differential . If his truck were equipped with clutch Limited Slip carrier, then friction modifier is necessary.
It took so long because you didn't have the correct tools. You should get a wire brush for a drill and it would take no time at all. Try that next time.
The top fill hole is intended for raised truck applications, where the diff is rotated to compensate for drive angle. Not just because a truck was lifted 2-4". Use the bottom hole for stock applications, like he did in this video.
Sorry I must have forgotten to add links in the description on this one. The Ford Performance cover is M-4033-F975 and if you go with the Dana Spicer version it is 10023539. I added links just now based on a quick search. Check around to different companies though...the differential covers are heavy and shipping/tax eventually led me to just buy the Ford Performance one since it was near the same price as the Spicer one after considering shipping. I believe the lubelocker gasket is a must; I still have no leaks and no concern about them in the future.
I just picked up a 2017 Raptor, I'm looking to perform this swap soon. Very helpful video showcasing what to expect.

@@ruffwrenchn2235 I sure hope you put a video out on this....would love to see it done. Could be quite the challenge.
@@ruffwrenchn2235 Did you do the front diff yet?

Yep, no sealant since the Lube Locker gasket seals with metal and rubber.

Did you have any issues with the gasket? I am planning to do mine on my truck and I am thinking of using that gasket.
I didn't for a long time, but now getting some oil around the edges. Could just be loose bolt I need to retorque though. I'll have to check them
Have you had any issues with Amsoil?
Nope, not yet anyway...It's due for another change after my next cross country trip.
I am in the same boat but I am going to 75-140.
I thought you were supposed to use the top fill port.

Nice job bro, can you tell me the party number. .?
