  • In this video we start off on where we can find top-down tokens. I am getting all of my tokens today from Forgotten-Adventures, but any source would work. After finding the token images, we place them all in the same folder in order to apply the images to a compendium using compendium image mapper.* Then we take a look at how to randomize those images and how the wildcard feature can be used in tandem with the wildcard hud module to create “multi-sided tokens.” Finally, we finish off the video by briefly showing off the module About-Face which automatically shows which direction the top-down token is facing.
*Depending on how many token images you have in the folder, this mapping process may take some time. Additionally, In the video there are some images missing from my compendium. This is because there were no token image names in the folder that matched the name of that actor. After the fact if I find token images that match those actors, I could place those missing images in a folder and do a second mapping.
Quick Correction: In the video I state that the compendium folders will be overwritten when updating rules set. This only applies to the compendium folders that are connected to dnd5e.
Please consider supporting Forgotten Adventures if you aren’t already. In addition to the token assets, I show off in the video, they are constantly creating new material for VTTs on a regular basis.
