    The new Mets GM has changed my entire outlook on being a Mets fan. He makes calculated analytical decisions based on low risk, high potential rewards moves like this one. Glad to have him!

      He's worth more than any superstar player you could sign through free agency. If he has another great offseason, you could argue that he is worth more to a team than Ohtanni.

      The Mets hired a new GM? David Sterns is the President of Baseball Operations. Is that who you mean? Thanks !

    Thanks Ryan for explaining all the ins and outs of rule 5 and QO details. Mendy had a great 1st year with the Mets. As you said, it is regular season award and the voting reflected that. Great pickup with Siri..very Steans move. Very happy with Mets new organization. Consistent winning...not sure Mets fans will know how to adapt to that 😮

    I think he will be the guy who will see a lot of good pitches when they place him in the middle of this lineup. Opponents will pitch around quality batters and pitch to him. Also, the Mets batting coaches have had a major impact on batters like Siri.

    Sounds like a good pickup hopefully the Mets can help him with plate discipline so he doesn't strike out a million times

    This is a really good move by Stearns. Obviously he could be a 4th OF or late innings replacement until his bat becomes ready.
    But due to his speed I think adding the bunt and being a stolen base threat will also be imperative.

      Combining his glove, sprint speed, power, and the fact that he’s under team control at a cheap price for multiple years makes this a really good get for Stearns.

    I'm trying to make sense of Siri's abysmal contact numbers vs his solid barrel rate. Seems like he doesnt make contact much but when he does he often makes good contact.
    Is it fair to say he mostly misses on pitch timing? Am I right that if his misses were more on location the barrel rate would be lower?

  • @petenieto1575
    @petenieto1575 День назад +2

    I’m biased, but I think Mendoza should’ve gotten it. Much tougher division, lost our ace, lost Alvarez for a significant amount of time. Not much bullpen talent. Two pitching reclamation projects forming 2/5 of the starting rotation.

    Top of the Mets lineup with Alonso and Soto as the only 2 big ticket offense signing.
    1 Lindor
    2 Soto
    3 Vientos
    4 Alonso
    That's a potential of 130 - 160 HR's right there!
    Spend the rest of the money PITCHING!
    5 McNeil
    6 Nimo
    7 Alvarez
    8 DH
    9 Siri?... not necessarily in this order.

    • @fr2ncm9
      @fr2ncm9 День назад +2

      McNeil will be 33 next year. He also has had two sub-par seasons, and they have at least three prospects who can replace him. I'd be shocked if they bring him back next year.

    • @fr2ncm9
      @fr2ncm9 День назад +1

      If the Mets sign Soto, there is no way they will sign Alonso. The Mets don't want to go over three hundred million dollars and field a team of 30 year olds. If you have too many older players on your team, you damn well better win a World Series soon because you will have a roster full of 34-35-year-old veterans. Your window for winning a championship shrinks.

    • @patpozzuto4809
      @patpozzuto4809 День назад +2

      @fr2ncm9 McNeil might wind up in Seattle for a pitcher, until then he's either on second or on the bench... my guess he's at second if he's on the team.

      @patpozzuto4809 День назад +1

      @fr2ncm9 Soto, if he signs with the Mets for 15 years is going to see hundreds & hundreds of teammates during that span...

The Mets Need a Miracle Hitting Coach to get into this HOTDOGS Head and Teach him to become a Better Disciplined Hitter but that Will Not Happen Unless Siri is WILLING to Learn . He is in New York Now , the BIG Show , and Not Tampa Bay anymore . We shall see .........

    Isn’t the penalty for signing a player that rejected the QO losing your 2nd and 5th highest picks plus $1M international signing pool? So in the mets case, they’ll lose their second and a compensation pick ( I don’t think we sign all 3 of Pete, Sevy and manaea)

    I hope orzee does do very well. Thats what makes a good trade partner right? Not the, hahaha i screwed you ! Type trade. Hopefully we get what we need and same for them. I liked bader was a mets fan growing up and his familys from here. But what ya gun do right? I wanna win really. But defense in center is very important especially with soto in right... im hoping. Now if we can land sazaki and get crochet thru trade. Acuna to me is the only real untouchable not a pitcher. Hes our 2nd baseman and possibly develop as a center fielder as well. All i know is this is better than any wilpon off season. LGM !!!

  • @Mitchropolitan
    @Mitchropolitan День назад +1

    NEVER, NEVER, NEVER trade with Tampa! They give up a defensive replacement pinch runner 4th OF. Give me Taylor & put a guy who had a very good K rate in AAA through another year at the pitching lab. I don’t HATE it, but I just don’t trust trading with the rays & the Mets had something in Orzi which might have been more valuable than a defensive center fielder & a gaping hole in the lineup.
    I hope the Mets can pick up a swing man or a potential power bat in the rule 5 draft. Loved getting Nuñez. Hope he’s healthy this year. Vasil could be an OK reliever. Ritter is good as gone! I haven’t given up on Allen…yet. Give me one more year where he’s healthy. I hope lavender is safe, he had surgery pretty early in the season might have been during spring training. So, he should be pretty far along in his recovery. I can see a few teams holding onto him if they have the roster space.
    I really didn’t think severino would turn it down. Glad I was wrong. I didn’t think he was a 20 million dollar player. Didn’t trust his arm holding up after all those innings & in the playoffs. He has barely had more than 100 innings since 2019. I don’t want him back. He’s an injury waiting to happen or just massive regression bc he’s trying not to get hurt. Again, manaea hit a wall 3 months after that new arm slot. I don’t trust his arm to stay at that level & he probably goes back to being an average pitcher at best if he doesn’t hurt himself in his age 32 season before that. Buyer beware for both is all I’m saying & send me those 2nd round draft picks, please.
    Mendoza didn’t deserve it bc he didn’t know how to manage pitching whether that was his reactive decision making or listening to Heffner. I am hopeful that he can take the reigns from Heffner who is making Mendoza look bad &/or learn from his own mistakes from his 1st year to have somebody in the bullpen when they hit the 6th inning for example, so he doesn’t put so much pressure on the current pitcher or the bullpen in higher leverage situations. There was definitely not the talent to get through those situations which is why they need another ace possibly 2 & 2 legit setup guys with closing experience in case they need to make a switch. I don’t care how much Diaz is making, he looked shaky as hell & lost some games for us. Also, you don’t want to rely too much just on one pitcher to close games as bullpens decide 97% of the game. The brewers were managed well, but the NLC was pitiful. If you lost a guy who gave you almost 10 wins & the cy young pitcher & still hung in with the best division in the NL, you deserve it more than Mendoza. The Mgr of the year should have gone to franscisco Lindor…lol.

  • @michaelw6193
    @michaelw6193 День назад

    Manager of the year award I like other MLB awards are mostly a joke, how about they use their eyes...Mendoza managed the heck out of the Mets, he helped them beat teams that most thought they'd never beat, beat the award winner and got to game 6 of the NLCS, but of course he didn't win.
