I recently bought the Stinson 7, love how they fit on my flat feet. I bought them specifically for scouting mountain biking trails. I run the trail for 1-2 miles to evaluate the terrain, before I take my MTB on the trail. The feet feel so secure in these shoes when I am running the trails. I use them on the weekends too for casual wearing with shorts, also on occasion, hit the treadmill too. Great review!! I concur with everything you said in your review. Peace✌🏽
I love these, i have the 7 and had the 5&6 as well. I suffer from arthritis in my big toe, so the rocker on the front has changed my life! I wear these for every day wear. Unfortunately they don’t come in a wide fit, so I have had to size up and get the men’s version which are wider than the women’s.
May I get your input for a new beginner trail runner. I have done a few marathon but want to switch to trails shorter distance .. thoughts .. ideas.. links to share Thank you
Will there be a GORETEX version of HOKA Stinson 7 ? What about ALL BLACK version of either regular version or Goretex version. Giavota 5 comes in all black but not suitable for trail running, especially during wintry wet weather.
Hoka's are by far the worst shoe I've ever had. I'm a runner and on my last 3 pairs of shoes I've put about 2,000k on each of them. ASICS, and Brooks both no problem what so ever. I wore them until I either wore a hole in the top or in the bottom. Hoka's however, I got thinking they would be great because I see them everywhere. In less than 100k there is separation of the sole to the foam . Additionally they have a bunch of problems that I just think a company that makes shoes shouldn't make. The laces come untied literally every time I run, most of the time they come untied multiple times. Yes, I could but other laces, and yes it's a minor problem. But it's a problem that every other shoe doesn't have. The back of the shoe by the heel folds back when you put your foot in. Honestly, I thought shoe companies solved this 10 years ago since that's how long the last time I experienced that was. Hoka's look great, but absolutely terrible for actual use.
Newbie looking for a trail shoe. Currently using ASICS gel nimbus for running on my local footpaths. I really like the cushion amd it feels like running on clouds. Where I live has very limited trail shoes and I was looking at ASICS trabuco. What ASICS do you recommend?
I respectfully disagree with you. I’ve been a trail runner for six years. I have a bunion on my right foot and Hoka’s saved my trail running career. In fact, Brooks Cascadia 17s were probably one of the worst trail shoe I’ve ever ran: they made my feet ache afterwards. Not to mention, they came untied constantly. 😮 I run very technical trails with intense elevations. For example, a 4 mile run will have an elevation coming in at around 650 feet. my favorite trail shoes are the Hoka speedgoats, and Mafate. You mentioned that the Hoka have a bunch of problems but from what you’re saying it sounds like the only two issues that you have with them are that the laces untie and that the back heel folds under if you put your foot in them. I have put hundreds of miles on my shoes and they have never fallen apart. Maybe you should untie the shoe properly and insert your foot in such a way that you don’t roll down the back heel. Sounds like you’re putting them on while they’re still tied up. 😢 The reason you see Hoka everywhere is because everyone loves them!!!!
