- The Open celebrates its 150th anniversary this year and is the oldest championship in golf. First played in 1860 when eight men took to the links to find out who would become the champion golfer of the year.
To this day all seven of Scotland's Open venues are 'Open To All' and we sent friends and film makers Ollie Allison, Harvey Jamison, Oliver Lawson and Michael Allison to document their experience of walking in the footsteps of legends on those hallowed links.
This episode comes to you from Turnberry, which first welcomed The Open in 1977. That event became famous as one of the greatest showcases of golf in the game’s history: the famous ‘Duel in the Sun’ when Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson went head-to-head over the final two days.
I have played Turnberry twice and am very privileged to have done so. I would suggest to anyone who hasn't played there to make a pilgrimage to this beautiful and historic place.

Super content thanks. Played it post Covid when the yanks had their travel ban. £350 total for me and my son - One of the best days of my life . £900 a round from next season. Open to some the title should read.

Great vlog. Always remember two fantastic courses there. TKRB would be a top 25 course, if it was based anywhere else.

It’s a tragedy that the R&A won’t have The Open there. Their political opinions regarding its owner are robbing us, the fans, from some truly great golf. I’ve been fortunate to have played this course. I’ve have played it from the back pegs. On still days you wonder what the fuss is about. On a windy day it is without a doubt the most challenging course I have ever played. I’ve been fortunate to play all over the world and when asked I always say this was my most cherished golfing experience of my life. If anyone wants an experience they will speak of forever make the effort to visit.
Open to all in principle but ludicrously overpriced so not really. Prices to play these courses have gone absolutely mad.
Yes they are very expensive, that being said they are still available for the public to play.

@@joanrodger352 it’s not private, it’s still available to play. They’ve also a fantastic second course at a more affordable price.
