Golf and whisky - an enduring relationship. As two of Scotland’s most celebrated exports, golf and whisky have long complimented each other. Not only did us Scots give the game of golf to the globe, we gave those who took it up a dram to warm the heart and revitalise post-round.

While Scotland may be famed for its championship links layouts, the quality of golf within the nation’s major cities is notable. Indeed, the highest concentrations of golf courses in Scotland are around Glasgow (over 90 courses) and the capital city of Edinburgh (over 65 courses).

Away from the championship challenges, revered links layouts and modern venues that draw golf visitors to Scotland, there are a host of other courses that will leave you enthused. These venues that perhaps sit in the shadow of siblings, go under the radar or lack the profile enjoyed by bigger names. However, that takes nothing away from their quality, value for money and experience. Booking a t...

Remarkably, Scotland has over 900 offshore islands, most of which are to be found in four main groups - Shetland, Orkney, and the Hebrides, sub-divided into the Inner Hebrides and Outer Hebrides. Fortunately for the golfer who is prepared to go on a voyage of discovery and ‘ferry hop’, there are plentiful golfing opportunities to be enjoyed on the islands’ fairways.

It is a little-known fact one in every five courses in Scotland are made up of only nine holes. Going back generations, these short-form layouts were at the heart of villages and town, the lifeblood of the community where people could gather and enjoy a game for all levels of ability. That remains true today across the rich tapestry of Scottish golf’s cloth.

Mega golf course, thx for video
Plenty of Xirs and Xims playing I'm sure.
Why is it always English folk that do these videos. Would be so much better with a Scottish accent talking about the history of the open.
Hey Ollie, loved the film, mate, excellent stuff! Thanks for the effort and for providing a wonderful glimpse of one of the world’s premiere courses. I wish my dad and I could’ve played there and also at a number of other links courses. One day you’ll have a great memory to look back upon of playing at these special places with yours!
Hmmmm not worth the money , very boring COURSE and toooo many blind holes on the back nine.
Bruntsfield! Played there for the first time last month, stunning…
Super content thanks. Played it post Covid when the yanks had their travel ban. £350 total for me and my son - One of the best days of my life . £900 a round from next season. Open to some the title should read.
Unfortunately not open to all as your headline. At one thousand pounds to play per round only open to the select few.
@@joanrodger352 it’s not private, it’s still available to play. They’ve also a fantastic second course at a more affordable price.
@@wheregolfbegan1457 I never said it was private. Its open to the select few who can afford it.
I'll watch the other videos in this series. This was a very good one. Playing the Old Course. My Dad and his good friend Bud Ossey walked St. Andrews but didn't play it. I hope to make it over there someday. Keep hitting it long and straight. 🏌️⛳
I though Golf Started at Leith Links near Edinburgh!
Excellent commentary 😂
I was a junior member here. Old club cup is there.
Just down the road,at the royal musselburgh. They have the oldest cup in the world in golf. The old club cup. Great video.👏👏
Callum Scott’s a talented and modest individual good luck to callum in 24/25 season
Brilliant....
Looks amazing. I need to go play there!!
A wonderful place.
Excellent content guys
Lovely place to enjoy our game, played a few times and also at Craigielaw next door. Proper golf.
17:18 understating it a bit, he still had to get up and down from the bunker to make the play-off and it was no tap-in.
Little par 3😂 Try it from the back box with a 3 club wind👀
£300 for 18 holes. Ouch.
That’s very pricey. Definitely not “Open to All” as suggested.
Turned off when the jungle music started. Can't escape it.
The Dukes is proper and beautiful.
Amazing piece. Thank you, gentlemen.
Change of ownership coming soon.
Cracking wee video.. and a lovely place to play golf!!!!
Gem
Open to all is a massive stretch.
Fantastic video I'm lucky to be a member of this great golf club
awesome
This course is amazing. A trio of us went there after playing Old Course and all around st Andrews. Definitely one of the most breathtaking views. 🎺⛳️🏴🙏🏻🇺🇸
The beauty of 9 holes is if you got time you can play it twice, the problem with good courses you need to play them several rounds to figure them out.
The sad truth about golf , it’s become a rich man’s sport. To play the better courses you have to pay a fortune these buddy trips can be expensive.
In Scotland probably 75% of the courses are under £100. There’s so many to choose from. A trip doesn’t always have to be about the trophy courses 👍
Fantastic video. Played here last year, was an absolute pleasure. The gents in the pro shop were very welcoming and the course was a great challenge.
I'm beaming with pride as a Scot who left the homeland and lived in the south of England for many years, but played the Wee Course 9 holer at Blairgowrie as a junior for 7 years in the '80's, then returned to Perthshire in the 2010's, and after a long 33 year hiatus from golf, I just got back into it in a big way. Great video, and I'm so proud that you loved your experience in our lands! I wish you many happy trips back here, and if I can't offer a suggestion: try The Dragon's Tooth Course at Glencoe, or North Ballachulish to be exact. I loved it! Enjoy!
Wonderful video.
Nostalgic ….nice one guys. I lived in Prestwick when I started my working life….Blessed with great courses there 👌
I've been playing golf for 40 years. This is the best course I've ever played. Treat yourself. You won't regret it.
Excellent promo documentary. Flooded with memories. Fortunate to have played there. And visited a distillery too ..
Well done as always, Malcolm..
Great video Malcolm 👍and the team 👏
That was fantastic, absolutely brilliant
Enjoyed that
To all the people watching this, imagine it with the usual rain and wind.
Great looking brewery! 👌
Open to All at how much a round ?
I was watching the "Women's Open Championship" this last weekend (won by Lydia Ko). Just checked the $$ of playing. $320 during (mid-April to mid- October 14th ??) and I believe 150 during the "off season". Unfortunately, it's more than I pay for a weekend round but really for one of the most famous, iconic courses in the world it's not bad. For the price I would splurge for a caddie and their advice. Hit it long and straight next time you get out there. 🙂🏌️⛳
Magical. I will remember for the rest of my life my trip to Turnberry, Prestwick and Muirfield. Hope to return one day soon.
Like the look of these 2 courses. Going to give them a try in May
Fantastic community courses. You will absolutely love them.
A unique course well worth the time to play. We met several super friendly fellow players during our round. Loved the course, hope to return!
