I can't wait to plant a couple more varieties this year. Last spring I started 2 Celeste, a brown Turkey, and a Chicago Hardy. Celeste's both fruited even though they were only about 3 feet tall. AMAZING flavor. Unlike anything you can buy. So excited for this summer.
Baker's Creek hard three fig plants on sale last fall for $16. They were all about 6 inches tall. I know on was Celeste and calabrese. The third was a golden one. But it was a good deal. All healthy and growing well.
Wow, I have a brown Turkey tree and a couple of celeste I'm trying to root for the first time. Still havent tasted a fig though so I cant wait. If you ever want to sell atleast 1 cutting for cheap, let me know.
well keep us updated and can't wait to find out if it's true that it tastes like raspberries. :) one of these days I will get me one. when I can afford it. ty again great info on figs .
what year was your camera made? if you don't mind me asking...the clarity of you videos is great and I'm trying to find a camera that will be good for my videos. any cameras you recommend.
Curious to know what your plans are when the figs get to be too big to move around. Since they have a very fast growing root system won't they get root bound even in a 15 gallon [pot
do you know forsure if the Italian Golden Honey are listed properly? Is that the exact variety? Seemed like you enjoyed them the most. They looked like a really nice fig!
I compared the leaves and the figs to the figs4fun data base and concluded it was an Italian Golden Honey fig. I originally ordered it from an online retailer that sold mislabeled figs. I could be wrong but that is the closest match that I found.
New England Gardening they are the ones that intrigued me the most out of your samples. they look really sweet, and i like that they dont have a thick skin.
How many seasons does it take for your fig trees to set fruit? Also, what preparations do you have to take to deal with the cold weather? I'm in zone 6B and trying to figure out which trees are capable of handling our winters.
Some fig cutings will try to make a fig the first year but you should break those off. You can get a couple of figs even in the second year. Some varieties give you two crops of figs too.
All my figs are in pots and I bring them in the cellar during the winter. If you wrap them up right they can be kept outside or in a shed. I'm in 6b also.
Do you mind sending me a Fig Cutting. I live in New england too. Also whats that plant with the yellow flowers in the begining of the vidio. i saw a red version on vacation

very nice video. Thank you for posting it. Seems like you liked the calabrese the best.
Great Video - I really enjoyed it - thanks for the details, like the coin in the frame for scale and the weight. Smart fellow. Thanks for sharing!
Which one tastes better, the LSU Gold, or the Italian Golden Honey?
I took it in out of the rain. It has figs ripening on it now and I lost one to a bird so I have bags over the ripening ones also.
you must try the "pingo de mel" (honey drop) variety. It's so sweet!
Very nice fruits! Good luck gardening! :) Have you ever seen small pollinating wasps Blastophaga on Fig trees? :)
+Dr Victor Fursov - Entomologist & Beekeeper Ukraine There are no fig wasps in my area. I only grow common figs.
Good luck!
@@NewEnglandgardening The taste of common figs is very different if they are pollinated.

Where did you purchase that Calabrese fig tree?
I bought it on ebay from a trusted fig member of the figs4fun forum website.

NewEnglandgardening Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize that I had bombarded you with the same question on various videos. Sorry about that. LOL!
I want that mutant Hardy Chicago!
Do you sell any cuttings. Trying to find Black Maderia but don't want to buy from ebay because you never know what you will get.
When is the next fig update coming?
DO ANY OF THEM TASTE FIGGY ??
have you heard of the Panache fig it taste like a raspberry...
+Angelea Gillett I have a young panache but haven't had a chance to try on of it's figs yet. I think it's a late ripening fig though.
+Angelea Gillett The bad thing about The Panache Fig tree is that they only have one crop a year. : (
@@NewEnglandgardening Panaché begins producing before the main crop of most bifera figs.

Here are some tips on fertilizing figs from this website www.figtrees.net/ near the bottom of the page.

Thanks for this! It was very helpful.

Calabrese = 100% Brunswick
