That’s a pretty good solution to a potentially very expensive problem

great video John. I think the bright finish looks better than original. The later Aluminium XK's were done in bright finish

Hi John great videos could you possibly supply me the part number for the waist seals from the mini r50/51 as when I tried at the parts department they fobbed me off with ( need a vin number or reg ) I assume it is to make sure it is the correct part that is ordered as they do not carry stock.

Very nice job John! Mine (coupe) are slowly degrading but not bad enough for me to want to rip them off yet. I think I'd probably want to paint mine, rather than the bright finish.

Could it be a failsafe so that a mechanic could make sure he doesn't lock the trunk accidently. If you engage it like you did w button down you obviously can't lock yourself out without returning it up?

Hi John, you mention that the top of the doors have a curved profile whereas the mini doors do not. This means, when initially positioning the mini strips the middle wants to sit almost a cm too high. The obvious solution is to use a strong adhesive but I wondered what the concensus is on the best method. Maybe closing the gap in the mini seals so that they fit tighter over the metal ridge on the Jag doors, or attempting to bend the mini seals. Any suggestions very welcome!!!! Thanks, Phil

Hi John. I know you say that you're not providing dimensions, but do you know roughly how long the 'virgin' Mini waist seals are please? As you know, I'm interested in putting them on my XJ8 (the ones on my XK8 are fine), but the XJ seals are 940mm long, both front and rear, quite a bit more than the XK8. Cheers.
