God! Since I was a kid I've loved majesty of Mont Royal [Boone Hall]. The design, scale and detail of the house along with its approach. So very dramatic.
Terri Garber was an incredibly talented actress. Every look, every word is just perfect. And even 30 years after I first watched North & South, Lesley-Ann Down’s beauty is breathtaking.
The fictional character Ashton's supposed to be grandiosely soap opera-like one-dimensionally superficially evil. That's what makes her such a fun, interesting, funny, and unrealistic villain to watch. Thus, she's never meant taken too seriously. I'll never take her way too seriously. It's not like she ever has or will exist in reality.
@@privategirl4716 Oh believe me, there were, are and will be people exactly like her. Maybe not as eccentric or theatrical as she is-delightfully so in the series-but her mindset and character are ever so much out there. I believe now more than ever. She was the prototype Karen with style lol.
It must have been so much fun for Terri Garber to play a character so unrealistically grandiosely one-dimensionally evil. Someone so unlike her. Lol! Acting must be a lot of fun. I'm also so glad Terri Garber and previously unfortunately deceased Kirstie Alley were great friends in real life, and had much fun playing their intriguing North and South roles.
Terri Garber is one of the best actresses. And she was very beautiful. It is a pity that she was not invited to the serious roles .... I do not understand why ... but it was very unfair. Terry deserved a much more prominent career
I've never seen North and South until recently. All I could think was "wow, that woman is drop dead gorgeous." She and William Ostrander were absolutely gorgeous and so talented.
@@BrotherDerrick3X Terri Garber's only a totally inwardly and outwardly beautiful, nice, loving, caring, giving, talented, admirably very strong, lovable, smart sweetheart. I don't even know her. She doesn't know me either. I still know this vibe I get from her, though. Seriously, oh yeah.
Watching Ashton in North and South Books 1 and 2 miniseries is no different from watching the past version of the soap opera General Hospital fictional character past 80's villian version of Lucy Coe. It was fun hating villiany but funny Lucy. It's also so hating villiany but funny Ashton.
I never thought of her as Scarlett. Scarlett was not evil. She was never described like that in the book nor the film. Of course she could be bitchy at times, but she loved her parents and children, she cares about her friends like the Tarleton twins and is devastated by their death.. She fought to protect her family and their estate. She cared for her servants. Mammy loves her. Pork and Big Sam respect her. She saves Melanie and her baby. She swears to Melanie on her death bed to look after her boy. She is nothing like Ashton.
Scarlet wasn’t evil though. She was selfish, spoiled, and could be a bitch at times but she had a good heart. She loved her family and would have done anything to protect them. Ashton was evil. She loved only herself.
The reason that is, is because Gabor isn't that different from her character "Ashton" in real life. She's just a bitter old leftist now that lives off the success of her daughter .

God, such good actresses....I remember watching this series as a kid when my parents bought the whole VCR set
Madeline was such a beauty!!!! And natural lovely person ❤️❤️❤️😍😍
She really was!

After she played Ashton, Terry Garber played Blake Carrington's niece on Dynasty.

She did keep things interesting.
Ashton wants revenge because Madeline prevented Billy getting killed...
She also helped get her the abortion when she was younger. Dirty little secrets fester. She resented Madeline because Madeline knew her weakness.
Ashton wanted to hurt Orry.
Ashton character is one of the best in North and south and terri garber really 👍good
i love her laugh at the end :)

Ashton was mean.
Madeline is beautiful🎊🎉
I love the 'North and South trilogy' a real page turner I read all three books consecutively. 'Heaven and Hell' is my favorite. ^_^
Ashton is delightful!
She is no safer with Ashton than she was with her ex-husband.
Ain't that the truth!! Madeline's that stereotypical "damsel in distress"...kind of annoying actually...ugh!! 🤦😱👎
Ashton is Evil to the core
Selfish, evil, manipulative, power hungry and devilishly funny. Terri Garber rocked it as Ashton.
She did. I can not think of another actress who could have played Ashton better.

Haha she is actually my favorite character
My dad really named me after her?! She’s so nasty
Some shows like XENA and LEGEND OF THE SEEKER...make a scene. Even MERLIN, what a great show that was. Action and adventure with it, love the heroes
What happens to her? I forgot and they don't show the rest of the series here?
After book 2 episode 2 "O" there is no well relation between the episodes, why? someboby can answer my question?

yes she is...but whithout her, it would be boring...thats why i love her
Ashton reminds me a lot of Scarlett Ohara. I never thought anyone would hold a candle to her but she kinda does a little.
Scarlet was never this evil...
@@GosieKin that's true. Scarlet did things out of desperation. Not to be mean or evil. I just meant in looks and attitude kind of..lol

The historical inaccuracies in the hair is hilarious
Not half as hilarious as expecting Hollywood to be 100% accurate with something as trivial as hairstyles.

Scarlett O'Ashton personified!
