I bought a CVA Wolf back in March before the lockdown and I absolutely love it but I wish you guys would bring back some older style muzzleloaders such as the CVA Hawken. I love my inline rifle but it would be nice to add a classic style rifle to my CVA armory.
I've taken three deer with mine so far over the years. It took a long time to find a good load. Hornaday sst 250 grain with 90 grains of powder seem to work the best to keep me around 1-2" at 100 yards.
I could listen to you talk all day!!! Great vid. Love the bloopers. Keep them coming please. Can I request a vid for load recommendation as in what powder and ball combos you recommend for the wolf.
Hey man not every loose powder needs that black Horn breech plug. I shoot real black powder in my Wolf all the time and it’s the most reliable thing I’ve found. It’s a lot more forgiving than Pyrodex too, where Pyrodex rusts your gun the same day you shoot it real BP is a much slower process allowing you to finish your weekend before breaking it down and washing it, with soap and water. I don’t oil mine but I do grease it with lard.
I just ordered my CVA wolf Muzzleloader this afternoon and I can’t wait to get it I can’t wait to shoot it and I can’t wait to go hunting with it I’m excited it’s my very first muzzleloader I always wanted one I can’t wait
I love shooting my wolf Muzzleloader that shoots perfectly and accurately I wouldn't trade it for the world I shot several deer with it it cleans up very well and it's not very heavy to carry through the timber I've had my wolf Muzzleloader for at least 10 years now if not I've never had a problem with it I also plan on buying me another one
I've already put over a thousand rounds through my Muzzleloader my wolf I enjoy that that rifle it's fun shooting and yes you need to read that owner's manual not to overload it and not to use the wrong powder you'll turn yourself into a dead person with the pipe bomb in your hand when you pull the trigger it blows up just like video says so read the owner's manual I did and I still enjoy my CVA wolf
Got news for you. You don't need to swab between shots with standard black powder either. Only when you begin to feel resistance when sending the ball home.
Just got my CVA Wolf and was buying accessories/supplies. I was about to buy the brass barrel brush when a couple guys advised me not too, saying it would damage the barrel and all I needed was the solvent patches. What do y’all think about that advice?
Keep your powder under 100 grains by volume and it wont bother you. For cleaning purposes I use Blackhorn 209. You can shoot 10 times and not have to clean it between shots. I use 100 gr BLACKHORN 209 by volume with a powder measurer. It is equivalent to 115gr of blackpowder. You can shoot 90 gr and be fine. If you want to use triple 7 use loose powder because it's more consistent and pellets go bad after a couple of years. There's 100s of bullets but the Hornady XTP sabot in 245 gr work great and are not expensive. Good luck
I have developed a new cartridge for muzzleloading rifles which is loaded from the muzzle but ejects itself from the barrel after use and is non-corrosive. This product sets a new standard in safety and reliability for muzzleloader ammunition in the same way shotgun shells are standardized for use in shotguns. Shotshells have a load of shot and powder which produce a safe pressure in shotguns manufactured by many different companies. The pressure produced by this cartridge can be designed to work safely in the muzzleloaders produced by the various manufacturers. It would also greatly help new muzzleloader shooters with safety, and it would also give them a product which will not destroy the barrel of their muzzleloader due to corrosive residue. Those who say smokeless powder cannot be used in a muzzleloader may not know “Blackhorn 209” is 83% smokeless powder, based on the MSD sheet for the product. Therefore, the claim that smokeless powder cannot be used safely in a muzzleloader falls apart very quickly. (blackhorn209.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/2022-Blackhorn-209-SDS.pdf) I am now looking for a company willing to mass produce this new cartridge for the market. I would greatly appreciate it if you would pass this information along to those you know who may be interested in this new product. A link is found below which demonstrates this new product. So what is the benefit of this type of rifle? I'm very green when it comes to this style. Is it essentially novelty or nostalgia or is there beneficial attribute that comes from using this type of rifle. Thanks
For me personally I found 2 main advantages. Muzzleloaders (in the US atleast) are listed as 'antique firearms' and can be bought off store shelves so they have ease of access Also, they come in larger calibers such as .50 and pack a serious punch Plus they are just outright cool
If you had to, you could remove the breech plug and then swab the barrel. The breech plug should screw out with just your fingers as long as it was greased effectively when installed. Maybe take a pick and clean out the touch hole on the breech plug after that if it looks dirty or partially covered in crud.
I guess you could shoot a patched round ball if you adjust the powder charge if you're staying within 50 yards I am too cheap for modern projectiles or you could just use a LED conical bullet that's the same shape
I'm sorry it's still clean between shootings I don't care if I'm using a substitute black powder or not I don't like a drop of rust on any gun black powder or not
That really depends on the gun. A flintlock for instance doesn't require a lot of maint. but it is all stuff you can find for free if you have to. You just have to prevent rust by cleaning the barrel and waxing the barrel, very rarely re-harden the frizzen, and keep the port hole clear.
Here's how you be safe and not sorry. Lock your powder in your safe,........ so evil doers don't add smokeless powder to your powder. If in doubt throw it out.

Buy some Pipe cleaners they work perfect for cleaning the inside of the breech plug. They are cheap and you keep reusing them. Available at any Smoke shop.
Its good to know that the one whos teaching us just ringed himself
It sure was close.
He had eye pro on, at least
Glad I wasn’t the only who saw that 😯
Didn't quite make it...
Bought a CVA Wolf for Texas Muzzle loader 2 years ago. Haven't got a Deer yet but Love they way it shoots and it is easy to clean and maintain.

One I had and liked was the Staghorn.
These videos are going to have to be played for all movie sets moving forward...

Tripleffer double F I'm assuming double f

They're about the best bang for the buck, even with recent inflation, they're still affordable.
Powerbelt bullets are good also and good groups I killed one yesterday with my wolf with 245 grain copper series
@@matthewmshell9099 I just took my fourth deer with it, a nice ten point!
I used a round ball in those if you do a low powder charge like 50 grains, it's good to about 40 yd.

I love how they blew up a TC Bone Collector 😂
Great video . I think I’ll purchase a wolf. Much nicer than my old CVA mountain stalker I bought years ago

How do you like it?
White hot pellets burn clean also . 👍🏻
i bought one of these at walmart for 60 bucks a couple years ago never shot it but im looking forward to learning and shooting
Thats a good deal i bought one for $150 2 years ago on their website havent shot it yet but this weekend im planning on trying it out
@@JCampGarage Awesome lmk how it shoots if you get a chance . I wanna use mine for hunting this year.

Does the powder recommended in the video burn/clean better than White Hots pellets that are highly recommended in the gun manual?

Just got my CVA Wolf and was buying accessories/supplies. I was about to buy the brass barrel brush when a couple guys advised me not too, saying it would damage the barrel and all I needed was the solvent patches. What do y’all think about that advice?
The barrel is made of steel. A brass brush will not damage the barrel and is a good cleaning tool to have.
I can tell it's manly and cool because of the electric guitar in the background
I figured out something it's more fun win you actually have ammo for a muzzleloader lol
Could you use tripple 7 pellets?
I have an old Johnathan Browning that is damaged. I have some 50 cal max lead. Can I use them in the wolf?
How do you use a cleaning jag, when my ramrod was not threaded
For the first time using muzzleloaders and the owner strict budget is is recoil really bad ?
Keep your powder under 100 grains by volume and it wont bother you. For cleaning purposes I use Blackhorn 209. You can shoot 10 times and not have to clean it between shots. How is the wolf compared to the accura and other muzzle loaders is there really Huge difference
No
They are just different built and it makes them expensive
i just purchased a brand new wolf from cal ranch and it didnt have a scope mount with it.
Certain models come with iron sights while others come with scope mounts.
Can i use the blackhorn breech plug with the pellets to sit on top? Terry or do I need to use the standard breech plug ? Thanks terry
The Blackhorn BP will not work with pellets. You will want to use the standard BP for that.
Just got my CVA wolf a few weeks ago, it came with the open sights, not the scope mount. How do I adjust the open sights to sight in the rifle?
Will a musket cap ignite triple 7 pellets?
I would like to use round ball loads in my new 50cal Wolf V2, as well. A suggested use? Packing or no packing with the ball?
Of course you would use a wad

a muzzle loader extends your Deer season in many states.
Less people out during muzzleloader season is why I bought one
Can I shoot them elr bullets in my cva wolf muzzleloader???
Can the scope rings be removed and replaced with Williams gun sight iron sights?
Yes
How do you clean it between each shot though?
If you had to, you could remove the breech plug and then swab the barrel. The breech plug should screw out with just your fingers as long as it was greased effectively when installed. Maybe take a pick and clean out the touch hole on the breech plug after that if it looks dirty or partially covered in crud.
so we have to clean the muzzle loader after any time we shoot it for a hunt like right away ??
I run a patch after every third shot and clean it thoroughly after a range day or hunt.
User-bunxh-of-Letters&numbers : thanks for thr info
Black powder is extremely corrosive.
What grain bullets were those?
Use smokeless pellets
Totally NOT his question. Grain of bullet not powder.
Very well explain
I cost me a hundred dollars, too use brand new rifle, good job Optima.
I wonder how many people watched this and thought you had to put powder into the QRBP before inserting it into the rifle ?
I guess you could shoot a patched round ball if you adjust the powder charge if you're staying within 50 yards I am too cheap for modern projectiles or you could just use a LED conical bullet that's the same shape
They don't shoot round balls worth a shit!!!!!
Botsford Dale
So with this you couldn’t use a fire stick or if the breach plug removeable so that you can use one?
No, that's strictly for firestick guns.
Does a 50mm scope fit with the factory scope rings? What hight rings comes on it from factory
I'm sorry it's still clean between shootings I don't care if I'm using a substitute black powder or not I don't like a drop of rust on any gun black powder or not
LOL so you need like 5 products to stop it from rusting to pieces? Does the blued barrel prevent you from having this problem?
It scratches off easily.
You need like 10 products and like 15 procedures to shoot one bullet and maintain the gun lol.
That really depends on the gun. A flintlock for instance doesn't require a lot of maint. but it is all stuff you can find for free if you have to. You just have to prevent rust by cleaning the barrel and waxing the barrel, very rarely re-harden the frizzen, and keep the port hole clear.
The boxes had not been opened, and the ramrods was junk, that was Optimas fault
I thought it was 120gn lose Black Powder
What hight scope mount comes factory on the wolf v2? Will a 50mm bell fit?
I don't know if it was optimas fault or SPORTSMAN'S GUIDES FALT, BUT SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE done what was right.
Say-bo not sabit

Here's how you be safe and not sorry.
Lock your powder in your safe,........ so evil doers don't add smokeless powder to your powder.
If in doubt throw it out.
IF you have someone near your guns who would do that ? you should not own guns...

Thanks, now I don't need to read that stupid user manual
And you couldn't give me a WOLf.
wish you told more about how much powder to use seems your pushing stuff not needed more then anything

That wasting 3 primers is ignorance, especially when primers are short supply.

Ewwww! He said pipe bomb!

I'll never buy another , I've got a thousand dollars in an Optima Elite, and Optima tells me it might be worth two hundred dollars.
