    • @AlisonCrafts
      @AlisonCrafts  4 года назад +6

      I added the decal second... Because I changed my mind... It's not wrong to do it that way but it just takes longer. Because I had to do even more layers on top of the vinyl. If you lay the decal first you'll use less layers and be done faster 😉

    Hi Alison! I want to make a peekaboo glitter dipped wine glass where a mirrored vinyl decal is applied first, then glitter over the vinyl so you only see the vinyl image from the inside of the glass.....my question is: not one tutorial I've seen thus far discusses or shows sanding their glass as part of their prep. I know I have to sand the glass, but I'm afraid if I sand it before adding the vinyl it will dull the way it appears from the inside of the glass, so....should I sand the glass, then add a thin layer of BT or EP before I add the vinyl, then seal with glitter glue and continue on w/glitter layers....OR should I apply the vinyl first to the unsanded glass, then sand the glass around the vinyl, then do my layers of glitter glue, glitter and BT? I apologize for the long question and hope I am making sense!🤦‍♀️ Thanks so much for your help! Your tutorials have been my saving grace in my learning process❤

    I love the idea of crystalac. But are there no fumes to worry about like epoxy and realistically how many days does it take to do one cup like this?

    • @AlisonCrafts
      @AlisonCrafts  4 года назад +1

      No fumes! Its completely non toxic and has no hazardous ingredients. And since it's water based, it cures by evaporation so there are no fumes created/let off during curing! The time it takes really depends on how much time you have to give. You can layer your Brite Tone every 4 hours and your cup will probably need 6-8 layers or so (really depends on the design tbh) and so it can be two days or 5 days depending on your ability to get layers on!

      I don't use epoxy because it's extremely toxic. And you can't put epoxy on top of Crystalac. I personally wouldn't use epoxy on single walled cups because it will chemically burn into the plastic and could damage the integrity of it

Do you know how long Brite Tone takes? If you sell a custom cup I’m assuming you don’t wait until the cup is completely cured to sell it. If you don’t what are the instructions you give to your customers?

    • @AlisonCrafts
      @AlisonCrafts  4 года назад

      It's exponentially safer than resin, it cures by evaporation so no fumes during the curing process. Vocs are in everything, including household cleaning supplies or your bedding. This has less than household cleaners. You should wear a mask if you're spraying the product but I never do that so I don't wear a mask. What is the durability on a plastic cup like this with crystalac? Id be afraid it was crack off if the cup was squeezed or something. Or can it not be squeezed once the cup is finished because it’s hard?

    • @AlisonCrafts

      I've been using mine for months and it's in great condition. the cups themselves are pretty rigid and take some effort to squeeze so i really don't worry about that. You'd probably break the cup by squeezing it without the crystalac. if anything, it's probably more durable with it on there
