    This basically challenges China to convert their entire missile-defense complex (radars, missiles, everything) into a similarly air-launched, swarming paradigm. That's not an easy pivot to make; they've been focused on building destroyers and long-range anti-ship missiles for area denial. RD's combination of two super long reaches (the airplane, the missile) plus the girth of the C-17... there is presently no defense against Rapid Dragon.

    • @elessartelcontar9415
      @elessartelcontar9415 6 месяцев назад +2

      What enemy carriers? China only has two aircraft carriers and Russia only has 1 aircraft carrier.
      Those 3 carriers will be sunk in the first hour of a large conflict. Each of these 3 aircraft carriers have a capacity of only 30 to 60 fighters.
      So a total of only 180 carrier jets.
      Each of the 11 US aircraft carriers can carry 90 fighters, so 990 jets total on our carriers. The Navy always having 11 aircraft carriers is per a Congressional mandate.

    • @snowdogthewolf
      @snowdogthewolf 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@elessartelcontar9415
      "What enemy carriers?"
      "China only has two carriers"
      Um, those carriers.
      BTW, the PRC has 3 active carriers now, with the last being launched in 2022 (the "super carrier" Fujian, capable of carrying 50-60 fighters).
      You mention the Admiral Kuznetsov. I don't consider that mazut burning, tugboat propelled POS a carrier.
      BTW, China is currently building carriers and unless the CCP loses power in China, we WILL see a few more Chinese carriers within a decade (some experts predict 5 modern carriers within the next 10 years).
      The US is the leading military power, but it does have competition. Sitting upon one's laurels is to lay pavement to defeat. Same as underestimating one's enemy, current or potential.

      We are well aware of the PRC's ambitions in the South China Sea, which the Rapid Dragon system may be able to tackle effectively. It may even be the primary reason for this particular weapons system.
      That said, I am a bit surprised China is currently building modern carriers, considering how they have heavily invested in "carrier killer" ballistic missiles (DF-26B) with a 2,500mi range and 4000lbs payload designed to vertically approach a carrier at supersonic speeds, making avoidance or interception difficult.
      It is believed they currently have in excess of 200 such units available for deployment for their own "ballistic missile swarm attack". Despite the perils of having such an investment at sea, it appears the Chinese now recognize the value in carriers.
