The wife started crying before she even saw it, she could hear it running inside and came out crying rememberingall the trips and times with her grandma. That's the biggest reason I enjoy getting old things running.
Looks like a fun project! The kids will love it. A lot of work to get it going and "safe", but easy to work on and keep it going for a long time if you keep up on maintenance. 😎🤙
Would have been nice to see her washed and cleaned out. We need to keep these old cars on the road. My daily driver is a 1965 Chrysler Valiant AP6 made in Australia 🇦🇺 just like me. It’s a decade older than me and I love it. Every time I go out people stop to talk about the car others want to take a picture. It’s also great to talk to old people who had cars like mine when they were young and then you get people like me who remember their grandparents driving one. I remember as a teenager in 1990 buying my first car and it was a 1965 AP6 it cost just $400 and it had some rego left. This AP6 is insured for $45,000 so times sure put the price up. You won’t see cars from the 2000’s go up in value in the coming decades 😂 they will still be better than the crap they are building today.
1971 was the first year of the Superbeetle. The biggest difference that year was the struts in the front. In later models, the front windshield and dash changed and were supposed to have overall a bit more room.
Yeah, for sitting that long, she sure does. I'll see if I can get more videos of our progress. I know it's alot of work so far, but we're loving every part of it
Something to let you know about as well too I only run gel cell batteries in my car instead of a lead acid battery because it’s underneath the backseat. I used to use Optima but now I use interstate they make a really good gel cell battery. It’s not cheap but because it’s inside the car
@@youtoobe169 definitely a part 2. I hope it doesn't end up like the Rocky movies, 10 so far? Lol. I'm trying to find the balance. I hate to show everything but want the details of a job if that makes sense. This video thing is a big learning curve so thanks for putting up with it.

Super Beetle - named only 1303S, with 1600ccm engine, 3.88 gearbox, front MaccPherson, front disc brakes. The best model of VW Beetles. All other are simply Beetles...😉
"They're gonna drive a stickshift before they drive anything else"...
👏👏👏👍👍
Excellent !!
If I was a father I would do the same.
That’s what I learned on at 9 years old. I was happy to hear him say that 🤣
OMG, that is perfect remembrance for grandma. And that little girl gets to be part of something that her grandma loved.

@@VWBaja You are right, this is fun. I'm going to dread the interior, but we'll give it a try, when we get that far.
Looks like a good solid car. Just found your page. So, new subscriber now. Will be great series.
Replace ALL the fuel hoses. Relocate the fuel filter to forward of the engine.
Amen get Polly going☝️☝️☝️🙏🙏🙏

If I had a say, everyone looking for a driving license, only on a stick shift to pass the test, would be MANDATORY.
Sounds like a healthy engine. Get brakes sorted and take her on the road 😊

The mice like to build a house in the cooling tins and plug up the air flow and the motor will over heat
I'll be sure to look for that, thanks

The engine is a 1600 but to tell what engine you have there’s a stamping underneath a generator mounting that would identify your engine
You're going to need to replace EVERYTHING that's rubber.
Hey guys, this is Mark. The hood is in front of the car on Volkswagen and the engine compartment is called a deck.Lid
It’s a 1600 and to identify the engine underneath your generator there’s a number stamping. It will tell you what exactly the engine is.
Easley said, now I have to break the name habit when talking about her 😂
1600 dual port engine
I think I would have washed it first.....
Should be a really good car though ...take the time to read some repair manuals...

Good Riddance. Your negative comments are not welcomed. I recommend getting book called " How to keep your Volkswagen alive. Real good book.

add electric turbo
Not Super Beetle, but 1302...
Supers have big front window and not metal, separate, removable, dashboard
Contact gap 0.4mm
Timing 7° BTDC
Not all Super Beetles had the big curved windshield. I found out not too long ago. I always thought they did.
Is that a year difference in the windshield? I know this one has a "padded" dash, I'll use that lightly cause it's thin. Lol.
I'm not a super beetle expert (my aircooleds are all older) but I do believe that the earliest models (71?) had a flat windshield
