Pristine Mind is so well demonstrated and expounded by this Rinpoche. I appreciate the way that he considers it to be the most important experience of a lifetime. Original Mind is pristine, the first, before all else, nothing coming after it, and it is the place where all divinity finds its home in the human being. So nice to listen to this teaching.
The wonderful and timely element about the book "Our Pristine Mind" is, as Orgyen writes in it, "All of the special terms that I use in this book-Pristine Mind, mental events, ordinary mind, undistorted perception, and others-embody the traditional Dzogchen language and bring it to life in contemporary English." The era of seeking Tibetan meditative truth and liberation dressed in the robes of mountain-dwelling yogis smelling of incense and butter lamps, is passing in the West. Now is the season for Westerners to let go all the cultural trappings and lures and distractions and settle down to the originality of the Pristine Mind itself, without reference to the ritual, the liturgy, the theatre and drama of the traditional garb of Lamaism and the Tibetan, as sensational as that can be to the novice. It's all about you before your breath says its first word, let alone says it in prescribed language and the language of different nations and peoples. The simplicity and directness of the Pristine Mind is perfect for the enlightened Westerner of any traditional faith however poorly or well-formed that faith might be. Self is Self, and its power to reveal Pristine Divinity and Pristine Source and Pristine Truth and Pristine Love and Pristine Mercy and Compassion can be matched only by the term Pristine God - and we cannot know Pristine Mind without Pristine God being involved in the partnership that makes the knowing possible . . . just as we cannot know Pristine God, the Uncreate of Christian Orthodox contemplative experience, for example, without the partnership of Pristine Mind and Pristine God. Liberation is personal and also wholly divine. It is liberating simply to hear Orgyen's teachings and directions that are inclusive of personality and not simply submerged in the old-world jargon that acts as an inhibitor to most Westerners. Well done, Khenpo: you have taken the teachings from Eastern Tibet into a wholly new Eagle's Nest in the Western World.
I have learnt so much from your talk today. I thank you for putting this on youtube, being from Australia the time difference is sometimes difficult for Aussies downunder . Thankyou for generating more curiosity in my mind. My daily practice The Great Perfection via Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. Dzogen is Prisitne.
