I was thrilled my neighbor gave me this amazing spiral thick tree branch yesterday. Brought it home and put it on the porch till I looked it up. Dang. Wisteria is toxic. Oh well. It sure would have made a cool perch for my Grey. It’s about 4’ long and 2-3” thick. It grew around another tree for years and one day he cut it off. Next.

Thanks! I get the feeling that if the plants are not toxic then it’s the plants that or in danger?! LOL I just want to give them more of a natural environment and make them feel more at home.

You got it, the plants are in danger! But yes, it’s great to give it to them. I put Palms next to their cages as much as I can. The palms get a haircut! For free!

This is a very important subject, glad you made a video. I have always wanted to put a palm tree, can't remember the name for my birds to land on and chew. They sell them at Home Depot in my area and they are not very expensive.

I’ve been surprised at how much they love them- and all of my birds do. I really like being able to offer natural enrichment.

Yeah, goats tend to eat things down to nothing - who knew that parrots do too?

I don’t trust any of my outside trees. We live very near to a golf course. I’m afraid of run off of herbicides and insecticides. We use natural insecticide and herbicide on our lawn. But, natural doesn’t always mean safe. I have various herbs in large pots in my screened in Florida room. My fids can pick ad lib. And I dry some for both our use and to add to their chop. My neighbor grows squash and flowers. He’s kind enough to give me some squash blossoms and rose buds prior to being treated. The biggest treat is said neighbor also gives me fresh, small red chilis. Some I dry and some I give as treats.I’m going to try to grow them. I’ve been assured they are very easy to grow. Even if they don’t eat everything it’s something new, safe and fun for them.😊

Chilis! I just bought a fist-full of habaneros at the store for my fids to add to eggs or bread, but as treats? Good idea! And growing them sounds interesting too.
I understand about not trusting the trees outside… I’m cautious and then suspicious too.

Could you tell me where are you buying plants for your parrots? I am not talking about herbs but about potted tropical plants or other plants that are safe for them to chew on ( I already have safe plants list). I want to have safe plants at my home and near the cage for my two parrots but I can't find any store that is selling organic plants and most of the stores that I called don't know was plants treated with anything. Are you buying plants in normal gardening shops or is there any safe place that I can order plants for my parrots? Any advice and recommendations will be appreciated.
