    Best 1000 review on youtube!! Most reviews before this seemed like they just read the box and show the obvious. Really like how you use your experience to explain your pro's and cons. Great production keep it up fam!

    Thank you TLM!! I started DJing in 1980 at 13 with three Super Disco Breaks.. I moved away from NY 15 years ago and left my set on storage... life happened and I lost a lifetime of vinyl and my set. I recently bought this and have been using them like ones and twos. . I watch videos like how are they doing that.. I'm mad analog.. Your review had answered all the questions that have been in my head for a few months now. Mad props TLM. Thank you

    Great review! I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and I love it! Been DJing since the late 80s, started on 1210s mixing vinyl then onto Serato control vinyl with an SL box so I missed the CDJ generation. When I Finally took the plunge into the future, I bought a Numark NSX for my first controller, then went on to the Pioneer DDJSX. Decided it was time for a change so went for this as I wanted to get the CDJ feel that I had missed out on without shelling out thousands of pounds (I'm from the UK!) So impressed with the overall feel, and the switch from Serato to Rekordbox wasn't as painful as I thought it would be!

    • @djTLMtv

      Exact same story as me but I invested in Traktor and I love playing control vinyl. I recently bought Serato DJ Pro and an entry level DDJ-SB3 which is fine for basic stuff but ultimately I really want something like this, although if I had the money I'd buy the NS7III...

  • @houstoner
    @houstoner 5 лет назад +3

    Love my DDJ 1000, had it since January. Only complaints I have is the Beat FX are NOT standalone when plugged into RB. They occasionally have a very minor digital dropout sound, but if you are using them with say vinyl and no RB connected, they run onboard. Strange, but whatever. Also second complaint is crossfader control can only be accessed in the software, no controls on the controller itself like the SX2. But other than that, this thing is a beast. Just thinking this is a first of its kind, so they can only improve for the 1000 MK2 or whatever they call it or add some things into firmware updates for the current gen.

      Well, the sound quality could do with an improvement. But, for the most part, I agree! It's certainly the best bang for your buck in the controller market. Add a higher quality DAC and it would be perfect. But that's gonna' come w' the "nexus" version ;-)

    • @Icevampir

      XBASS KINGTING
      It depends on the CDJ model perhaps.
      Never ever could a DDJ-1000 sound better then some CDJ-2000nxs2 through a decent mixer.
      You probably won't notice the huge sound quality difference at home but on a club PA it's massive.
      Look at the specs, man, CdJ - 2000nxs2 196 khz vs DDJ-1000 48khz
      Also, don't start with "BEST controller out there"
      It isn't.
      It always depends on the situation and specific requirements.
      Same applies for mixers or cars. There is no "best car".
      A numark NS7 iii is for example a better choice compared to a DDJ-1000 if you are into scratching and want to go the controller route.

      I’ll always prefer a motorized platter so the NS7 would be my choice. But if I would have to pick a controller with normal jog wheels, the 1000 is a great option.

    Great Review! Though I find the comparison of sound output quality missing in this video... Have you noticed the difference in how this controller sounds to other controllers? In my view, DDJ-1000 sounds very metallic , bass heavy, and the sound you get is not very clean.. It doesn't have the warm sound as you get with some other Pioneer controllers... This is the only criticism I have and other than that, it is an awesome piece of equipment...

What has me super excited is the fact that I had the idea of buying this controller and adding a turntable, and next thing I know, DJ TLM adds the turntable and talks about how easy it is to add it with the plug-in. I am very excited, thanks for the video.

    Thank you, your review answered all of my questions, especially about track selection. I love that you can just choose the next track on the side or you can scroll through independently on each deck. Builds club level cdj muscle memory. Also, I am using it as a club level practice controller, I might use the hot cues but will keep them within the cdj2000nxs2 parameters and will only use the effects on the mixer. This controller is perfect for that! Thanks again, I just ordered it and can't wait to get it!

    Without a doubt, the most enthusiastic review I've ever seen! That controller is BANGIN'! Question: Does the DDJ-1000 come with Rekordbox built in (I know the Serato based controllers have the license built in, but I never messed with anything Rekordbox)? Having said that, I also have to admit, because of the black jogwheels, Rekordbox controllers look nicer than Serato controllers..at least in MY opinion.

    • @dmp4096
      @dmp4096 6 лет назад

      Tha Rukkus ! The DDJ-1000 requires a computer and a Rekordbox license (included with the controller). If you want Rekordbox “built in” you want the XDJ-RX which has an on-board computer and full CDJ style display.
      I know this because I was considering the DDJ-1000 recently in my move to Rekordbox. I bought the DDJ-RX because of price. Got a reconditioned RX for $800 versus $1200 for the DDJ-1000. I just didn’t feel like the features of the 1000 were enough to justify another $400...

      No, I do have an NS7II review and there are a lot of similarities between the II and III.
      But what’s the debate? It seems to me like motorized platters should be the main point first. If you want motorized you go with the NS7 or Rane Twelve or possibly the NI S4III. If you don’t want motorized platters you can take all of those controllers out of the conversation and then you look at something like the DDJ1000

      @@djTLMtvyes I've seen the ns7II review. And I've been digging motorized platters forever. Since ns6 (I believe or the ns7) my only debate is learning serato I guess. Since I've been really sharpening my skills all on Rekordbox. I haven't seen the NI S4III, I'll check it out.

    Thanks for the review... I have two turntables and I like the idea of play four decks. You know 2 with the Jogs and 2 with the Mk"s.
    In this scenario is the Ddj1000 your first option? If not, what controller will be your first option?

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  6 лет назад

      My first choice would be an NS7III or Rane Twelve for the moving platters, but the DDJ-1000 would probably be next in line

    Great video! Been looking at this controller for a while now and this video helped me make my final decision on switching from Serato to rekordbox. I've been using it with ddj Sr, and I'm in need of a more versatile controller. This 1000 seems fantastic just scary switching software. Rekordbox has really stepped up there game. Thank you for this great review.

    Hello Sir, some question here:
    1. How this compare with Denon MCX8000 (because the price point in my country not very far).
    2. Do Rekordbox works with Ableton Link?
    3. Do This Controller works w/ External Soundcard? because (some) in Serato Controller NOT works w/ Soundcard?
    Thank You...

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  6 лет назад

      I can’t compare it because I still need to test the 8000.
      I don’t know of Rekordbox works with Ableton link. I know Pioneer has it’s own pro link feature, but you’ll have to check their site to find out more about the Ableton link
      In what way would you use the controller with an external soundcard? You connect the controller directly to the computer.

      Alessandro Pisegna If you want value for money AND NO NEED FOR A LAPTOP then I would say XDJ-RX2, if you want more better effects and 2 extra channels then go for the DDJ 1000 but then you will spend more money especially if you're going to buy an Apple laptop like most DJs would recommend anyway, another thing to think about is there's an AUX input for ipod, ipad, etc that you can use in conjunction with CHANNEL 1 and 2 CD LINE/PHONO on the Pioneer XDJ-RX2 so it's like having 3 Channels. I think it's a matter opinion of what you want for your money, I've listened to a few reviews of DJs on RUclips and most have said that the Pioneer DDJ 1000 it's the closes to club standard. I want value for money as a more intermediate DJ therefore I'm going for the XDJ-RX2. I hope this helps you.

      irandixon78 I've always used a controller and unfortunately I do not have an Apple laptop. I really like the stand alone console, but I'm afraid of being limited by this. I have read a lot of reviews and in essence the features are very similar for this I can not decide. Thank you so much, you really helped me!

    Hey, thank you for the informative video.
    How does it work with recording over usb? Does it function the same way on both A and B usbs? Do you have to sacrifice a channel on the mixer when you're recording (like you had to historically do with DJM 900/2000)?
    Thanks in advance

    I think this is maybe the ultimate controller for Rekordbox. Pioneer is now releasing a Serato variant which is almost identical but the screens show less features. For Serato controller I like the new Roland DJ707M. Traktor the S5 looks the part, although is discontinued, doh!!! Standalone hardware I like the Reloop Elite Mixer and RP8000Mk2 turntable, Denon X1800 Mixer and SC5000, Rane Seventy Two Mixer and Twelve, Pioneer XDJ700 and DJS1000 Sampler and Phase Essential wireless DVS

    I really want to get this board but I'm afraid of committing to Rekordbox. What I don't like about Serato though, is that I can't organize tracks and folders to the level that I want. I need opinions on if I should make the switch while it's still early in my career.

    Can you please plug two turntables in and play a short set?
    I imagine the space requiered for the whole setup and the distance between the turntables to be huge.
    I can also imagine, that is kinda awkward to make transistions with scratches between the two turntables because of this distance.
    Could you please make such a video?
    Couldn't find a video with a set two turntables connected to a ddj-1000 worked by a hip hop dj.
    Would really appreciate!

      djseasickbaby once upon a time, I bought into the Traktor universe because a Mac update killed the cheesy DJ program I was using at the time and I had a wedding to play in 15 hours... many bullets were sweat, found Traktor Duo (long time ago) and DJTT had a mapping for my controller, gig happened.
      Traktor was like going from a bike with training wheels to a ninja bullet motorcycle and it was hard to learn. RUclips was not the place it is today with all the great channels like djTLMtv.
      Spin forward a few years and I started following the now defunct Dubspot. They offered a course called Digital DJing with Traktor. I took it with idea that I would finally learn Traktor.
      What I really learned is that ALL of these programs do about the same thing - they permit you to DJ - and it really isn’t about the software at all. It’s about the music, the audience and the experience the DJ creates.
      The software is a means to an end, nothing more.
      However I did recently switch to Rekordbox because it can beatgrid music played by human drummers whereas Traktor cannot. I play non-electronic music mostly and Traktor was forcing me to go to extremes to do things like set and use a loop that won’t drift in and out of time.

    are these jogwheel CDJ 2000 nxs quality or same as XDJ 1000 mk2? On full set, you usually want to move the right deck away from the mixer because of the beat FX ON/OFF button is too close to PLAY/PAUZE on the right deck. I see this as a bit of a down side that they left it at the same spot. Obviously this is for home use, so you wont really be entertaining a crowd and accidentally hit the PLAY/PAUZE when blindly hitting the ON/OFF on the Beat FX... but still

    I got this controller and I'm so glad you did your review, been waiting for your thoughts. ✌🏾 So, I use both Serato (with a SX2) AND Traktor (the S5)...but when I heard about this controller, I became very interested. I was looking at another Serato controller (MCX8000 and of course, the DDJ-SX3 was not released). So I did some research and I pulled the trigger back in February. I had read about the new Rekordbox software upgrade. I didn't get the unit until April because it was on back order. But in summary, I ALMOST love everything about it. I love Pioneer gear so its built good. Since I've never used Rekordbox, its been a bit of a learning curve for me. First, I cant use my HD that I use with Serato and Traktor because its formatted in Mac-OS journaled format but I didn't know that Rekordbox needs Windows type formatting on the hard drive or specifically FAT32. Until I reformat my secondary external HD for this format, I got me some fast USB sticks that I've been using with it (128GB USBs). Also, the quantize function had me tripping...cause when I set and hit my cues on the pads, the track DID NOT start on the 1. It took me a minute to turn that quantize off and set the cue point more true to what I like. The jog wheels are dope. And I think the software is....pretty good. Another gripe: tracks take A LONGG TIME to analyze in Rekordbox. I also use Denon Engine Prime and that shit is fast when analyzing tracks! Overall - I am glad I got the DDJ-1000 cause 1) I think Rekordbox is just getting better, but really, this controller has great physical qualities that I like in a controller: DUAL USB connects which is becoming a must have these days, you can use it without a computer, got screens ON the jog wheels...basically its sexy as hell. I just need to put in more time to learn the intricacies of Rekordbox. Man....I wish Native Instruments could make TOP LEVEL controllers like Pioneer does. Last thought: if this was a Serato controller, it would be the best one, hands down! Great Review TLM 👍🏾👍🏾

    Thanks for the vid! Do you think it is normal and to be expected that the jog wheels on the DDJ1000 eventually make some noise when spinning fast (for example when doing backspins) instead of spinning smoothly? In the beginning, my DDJ1000 jog wheels did not make any noise but now one of them does. I have experienced this with older CDJs as well, and I was wondering if there is anything one could do about it
