So fine it's almost beyond criticism. It was obvious even at age four that Aimi was a musical genius. Even then her playing demonstrated passion and sensitivity far beyond her years, and far beyond the acquisition of mere virtuosity. I've listened to Aimi for several years, and have yet to hear her play an unmusical or ill-considered phrase. She has that rare quality of artistry that cannot be taught. If we must quibble, her last movement might have benefited from a slightly slower tempo which would have given the Presto at the end, which she played splendidly, even greater impact. After all, Beethoven does say, "Allegro MA NON TROPPO," doesn't he? Also, the extraordinary clarity in the last movement gave it a Mozartean air that may not be quite what Beethoven had in mind. Never mind all that, Aimi is a SUPERB artist. She was BORN to play the piano.

I should add that I have never heard a more thoughtful, thoroughly beautiful, expressive reading of the second movement. Aimi demonstrates extraordinary sensitivity and attention to detail throughout. Her PHRASING is exquisite. May God bless and keep her throughout a long, thoroughly rewarding, fulfilling career.

Hyramess Hiramess OK, OK, we get it, you like her playing. Stop salivating over her, believe it or not, human beings have the capacity to do this and more. Just enjoy it and stop glorifying.

impromptu You mean everyone has the ability to do this....I think not!! LOL. Aimi demonstrates the pinnacle of
what can be achieved by certain human beings who have natural talent and WORK their derrieres off!! I think
Aimi should be given the credit she deserves to having put so much effort into reaching into Olympus!!

There are infinite number of factors that influence our ingenuity as children. Some people simply discover it really early, and have the parents and family support, a good teacher for a long period of time, a good grand piano and not some electric keyboard. If you have all this factors plus love and dedication to do it from very early age. My answer is yes, any one can do it.she does however deserve the merit, as a pianist my self, I know how much time she had to put into that sonata, I have played this my self. But it can be expected for humanity to do beautiful things like this, we don't need to set apart and sanctifying them as you do with this girl. I don't see anything out of this world I'm sorry. At her age o was playing Liszt transcendental etudes, Schumann carnaval, appassionata, mephisto waltz. The difference was that I didn't have good sponsors, my parents didn't give a shit about classical music, they saw it as a hobby, Amy's parents glorify wait she does thus they pushed and helped her achieve.

I, too, have been listening to Aimi for many years. I was so delighted to find out that she just qualified for the preliminary round of the International Chopin Piano Competition 2015! I'd sure be rooting for her, like I have always been since she was 10. You are right that she has something that sets her apart from her peers, something that not even the best technical training or the most generous sponsorship can give. I think the Polish Government must have noticed this too when they gave her a special Frédéric Chopin passport and invited her to play a Chopin concerto in Poland back in 2010. I cannot wait to see her at the Chopin competition!!!

This recital of November 26, 2011 by Aimi Kobayashi is apparently a very important event in her life judging from the music being performed, both the Appassionata of Beethoven and the Funeral March of Chopin. No longer a child prodigy but a major league concert pianist... at 16. Congratulations Aimi, I look forward to every note...

A wonderfully balanced and brilliant Appassionata. This is probably the one piece of piano music closest to my heart and she does it with a perfect balance of controlled emotion and technique without unnecessary over exaggeration. imho anyways. I even like how long takes to prepare herself to enter that incredible world of the second movement.

A fantastic and phenomenal rendition of the 3rd movement of the Appassionata. It is gratifying to see that Aimi is still going strong even after critics tried to hinder her during the early stages. She has flawed them and made their commentaries of no effect. Aimi prohetically has nothing to worry about and has a great future ahead of her. I will remember her in my prayer. Greater times ahead for Aimi and may she continue to grow in knowledge of the TRUTH.

  • @VesChrist
    @VesChrist 9 лет назад +8

Excellent. She understands what is needed to play this ultimate piece of music - most, but not all of the important places are well exploited to reach the sub-culminations intended by the author. Contrary to what a commentator said here, her rubato is just fine and there can be much more to add through some more rubato - the logic of the music requires it. I didn't think twice before clicking on like. I hope she continues to play this in order to perfect it.

The great pianists all seem to have their idiosyncrasies, Glenn Gould had his beat up old chair, Yuja Wang abhors clothing and goes for the minimalist approach, while Aimi seems to like these gargantuan outfits with huge starched bright red flowers that remind me of the little shop of horrors. Just close your eyes and listen to their fantastic musicianship.

  • @buckingham1948

Composed during 1804 and 1805, -1806, and was dedicated to Count Franz von Brunswick. 1803 was the year Beethoven came to grips with the irreversibility of his progressively deteriorating hearing. An average performance of the entire Appassionata sonata lasts about twenty-three minutes. I think Beethoven would be thrilled to hear AIMI perform this difficult piece! She's that good.

All I can say is "Wow!" I had grown tired of this piece after hearing it butchered by so many other pianists. But AK's is different, musical without being overly aggressive or fast.
I doubt that even someone like Martha Argerich could match this performance in terms of sheer musicality, although she would no doubt be able to play it at twice the speed (and then some).
I only hope that AK continues to play at this same level as her career progresses.

I am afraid her natural talent is on the way of being ruined by the "professors" of piano-banging she is supposedly being instructed by. None of these professors have contributed anything amounting to what Aime has already shown in terms of conveying the emotional power of the music. She should keep listening to herself and drown out the clanking noise trying to distract her from her true vision and supreme understanding of beauty.

Your technique is amazing, but you didn't really make me feel the feeling of anger and agony which Beethoven wants to create with Appassionata...maybe it is the early of the age but anyway...you seem talented, but try to be more expressive...remember that Beethoven wanted to push the music to it's limits...
