- Making a cardigan out of rectangles - it's easy & perfect for beginners!
This cardigan turned out kinda cute!! In this video, I go through my process of taking body measurements, calculating the sizes of the rectangles, and sewing a cardigan with rectangles. I hope you’ll enjoy this video and maybe make a version for yourself too!
Here's a Google sheet with the formulas for the pattern pieces (i.e. rectangles) so all you have to do is punch in your body measurements and the math is done for you!

Nice idea! Next time try to measure your bust instead of your shoulders, or you need a rectangle inserts under your arms, so the fit will be much comfortable. I love your finishing stitches
🤯🤯🤯 YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Why did I not think of that? It makes total sense because our width of our body around the bust is often bigger than length from shoulder to shoulder.
So for a better fit, measure around bust and divide by 2 for the same calculation as what I did. And perhaps for people with high bust > bust, they should measure around the high bust then divide it by 2 for the calculation.
Thank you for this suggestion. I’m pinning your comment so others can see it! 💖
@@gwenheng It is my pleasure ❤
This is inspiring. I have a cardigan that is no longer sold. Im also plus sized and finding items that are quality and fit my style is difficult. I do not sew but am strongly considering learning to sew. I'd love to remake the cardigan i own and this video makes that task seem a little less daunting. Thank you!
This is super cute. I crocheted a cardigan with the same piecing idea, but I didn’t taper the sleeves so it has a sort of bell sleeve look. I’m thinking if I sewed this I’d add some hand crocheted lace around the body (instead of the collar) and the bottom of the sleeves. ❤️ I appreciate the simplicity of this, thank you!
Thank you for making this video, I'm gonna "steal" the sleeve pattern to fix my cardigan 😀
Good luck with the fix!! 😀💗
@@gwenheng it turned out sooo fit in my arms 💕 thank you! 😊
the snugg fit reminds me of balletcore wear, especially with the tie front 👀 🎀
thanks for another amazing and informative vid as always ♡
Ooo yessss! I was trying to show different ways of styling it with jeans, shorts etc. I guess it’d be cute with leggings and maybe a mini tulle skirt too!! Hehe thank you 💕
I am a lose fit. I love how it turned out ❤
Don't forget to check out the description box for a link to a Google sheet with the formulas! Make a copy of the Google sheet, punch in your body measurements, and you'll get the sizes of the rectangles calculated for you! x
@@ixm8189 Hello! I tried my best to understand by using Google translate. If you want to work in CM, you can use the conversion. 1" = 2.54cm. I usually use the unit converter in Google. Search "inches to cm". 😀
