Oh btw I ended up getting a zebra because of your other video, because I was on the fence. Proud owner of an LP 2844-Z made in 2006 :) Also, super weird, but it only works using the lp 2844 zebra drivers and not the lp 2844-Z, even though it's a "Z". (Windows 10) so if anyone is having that problem, try downloading the regular 2844 drivers.
Thats awesome! how do you like it? Very weird about the driver, I had to use the ZPL driver on mine for mac and i thought it would be the same for windows
I have to say, I'm glad I found your channel. I enjoyed your vids on the Zebra printers. I also sell on ebay and amazon, I'm also a former UPS Tech support rep so I've been working with these printers for years. Feel fee to reach out if you ever have any questions for these. I currently use a Zebra ZP450 W Ethernet port, connected to a rasberry pi Running an airprint server! Stil working the kinks on this.
Appreciate the kind words! That's quite the setup! I love the zp450, and with Ethernet even better. Your tech skills are good 🥰 we would get along well.
Do you know or have a video detailing how to fix an orange light error? It's not blinking. I can't calibrate and it won't take print jobs. I replaced the printhead and it didn't make a difference. It's a regular LP 2844. Not sure if it's a motherboard issue. I cleaned all of the sensors and the lid closes fine.
Thank god that worked.... I just won a bid and my THERMAL 2844 was just shipoped when I found this! New Subscriber and I look forward to new videos :D thank you so much
@@thecollegepicker i think i just binge watch like ten of your videos. just started my reselling gig on ebay dec 1st and I just cleared 4500 in sales. I am so thankful for your help! I hope to be able to go full time in the biz lol
I too made the mistake of buying a UPS LP2844. I got the USB you linked and used one from an old printer, but am not having any luck with my Mac recognizing the printer. I have restarted multiple times and still nothing. I would appreciate any help in troubleshooting!
I need help, I just got the UPS one on accident too... and it was frustrating as hell, but now I finally got it working for the most part, my label prints but then doesn't fully come out, it stops like a quarter inch before the label ends so I have to open it and pull the rest out. I've calibrated it like 10 times and it's still not stopping at the correct end to where I can just rip it off after it prints... I need help lol
I just received a zebra lp2844 z. The light stays steady on amber. I’ve pressed on the lid. No fix. The power cord they sent wouldn’t work. Bought a new power adapter. Now this. What c an I do?
My issue with them is they never come with the power cable. After you buy that cable for another 20-25 bucks your still making a profit but not as much. And when I search for broken ones all the ones that are as cheap as your getting don't exist.
I've been buying the 3rd party power supply in quantity I think they are about $8-$9. Not a great money maker but a way to get one on the cheap to use 🥰

I feel your pain. Did you make sure the real label browser has the correct printer selected? It may auto pick another printer and queue for another printer that isn't plugged in. Hopefully you get it going. 🙏
@@thecollegepicker Thanks for your quick response. Update: After 5 minutes, it did print the sample label but it is gibberish. It is not printing correctly. Thanks again for your help.
Cool! Thanks for doing these videos about the Zebra. I bought an PL2844 with ethernet based on these videos. Wanting it to arrive. Are there differences in thermal labels that should be considered?
Mostly they sell them as parts when the seller havent been able to test the printer. Even tho it says "for parts only" it may be a fully working printer :)
@@thecollegepickerThanks for the feedback. I ended up installing the driver from FedEx a little tricky as I needed to figure out which USB port it was using in my virtual machine. Ended up disabling all USB but the printer then installed the driver. Worked great in Windows, did not need to use FedEx shipping manager software. Was able to print PDF from ebay, Pirate Ship and sample labels from internet without any issues. Bought this printer as a "parts only" as your luck gave me the incentive to give it a try, just scored a really nice printer for way less less then half of what the others are selling for online. Just wish there was a working driver for Ubuntu, the CUPs recommended driver was a no go as it only let me print Generic. I could try deciphering ZPL language, did this for an old cognative barcode blaster but I only printed simple barcodes and not complicated shipping labels.
Everything I buy has a broken printhead or something. Literally doesn’t print any text on the calibration process. I’ve already talked to Eric on IG but does anyone else know if I’m just missing something obvious right under my nose?
I appreciate your videos. Can you please put a link to this printer from the buyer you used, and a link to get a good power cable for it. I would highly appreciate getting one for myself.
Ok. But the link would be nice. We can check our what else he have for sale and give him some business. I got two printers now. The zebra lp2844 and an oki LD260D. Camt seem to get the Zebra to print correct, but the Oki is awesome. Can you do a review on an Oki also know as Okidata thermal printers. Great videos. Keep me coming.
I just bought the lp2844 and checked the back after watching this video and it isn't ups, it says "model lp2844" but there's lots of Chinese writing too and it says made in china - should I be concerned?
You buy like a lot of people do - glance at the title, glance at the picture, order and receive an item different - but fully described by the seller - than what you thought you were getting. I actually had someone buy a 7 inch miniature guitar model from me thinking it was a full size real guitar - glanced at the photo and that was as far as he bothered to go.
Do you know about / have you tried the "presentation mode" on the UPS printer? I have the UPS ZP450, and it looks like yours has the same feature. There's a tilt-down front piece where the label comes out. Tilt it open, then feed a label out. Separate the label from the backing but don't tear off the backing paper. Put the backing paper in between the tilt-down and the printer (feed it through), then close the tilt-down. Now you can tear off the backing. When you print labels now, the label will come out of the front and the backing will separate and divert down that tilt-out. It makes it handy to just take the label and apply it and not need to separate the backer. My UPS ZP450 was free from a client who no longer used it. I'm running it on a Win10 PC at the shipping area and it has been great. Thanks for another educational video!
Yes this one has the self peel, didn't notice until you said something. Would have made a great demonstration. Oh for another video now. Going printer heavy 🤣👍
Actually he did you wrong if he titled it wrong you could return the item I’ve had to do that a couple times because I copied and paste did the wrong title to an item and I didn’t double check it and Ebay made me return it so he is really at fault with us
@@thecollegepicker Well as for me, I buy items not knowing when they are and just based off similar items I think they are one thing but it's possible it's not all I see is it looks the same, has the same number and is worth money. what's the difference between the TLP and LP?
TLP is the ribbon version (like a roll with ink you put in it), ribbon is much more resistance in the long run, but not needed for shipping labels.
