Thermal printing will do that to ya 👍. Appreciate the personal testimony, always good to hear. It shouldn't break, but eventually the printhead will go bad after 650,000+ prints and I just found out it's replaceable. Need to find the part and it'll be good as new. This is 5-10 years down the road for most people. 🥰🙏 Thanks for watching man I appreciate it.
Eric, thank you for the video. I am so glad you screen shot the "china" site, as I was wondering about that. I contacted Rolo today, and I asked where they are manufactured, there answer was "Rollo products are manufactured and stored in Las vegas" me: so they are made in the USA, not from overseas, them: thats correct . So they did mislead me today. thanks for the video !
You are welcome. Yes that is a bit misleading 😞. They may put them in the boxes and packages in Vegas, pop off the other square and glue on the Rollo square 🤷♂️ that could be taken as manufactured by some definition I guess. Either way thanks for watching 😊 I appreciate it.
You can, it would depend on the complexity and size to determine quality. These aren't really image quality, you usually would want something with 300dpi at least for images.
I saw Rollo respond to an Amazon customer comment saying they were coming with a mobile version soon (like a few months) so i guess we'll wait and see. Great video though, thanks again 4 the helpful content!
Appreciate the support 🙏 Yes, I've heard that as well. My guess is they are in the midst of protection with design patents, getting packaging, product, drivers, tutorials, website work, everything else behind the scenes prebuilt for the launch. Funny thing is the two I ordered from Alibaba the seller said he ran out and would upgrade me to the Bluetooth version for free. So I'll have a sneak peek because I'm 99% sure it's going to be the same printer, just branded rollo 😉
@@thecollegepicker We have seen the Bluetooth version that some third-party sellers have "made" - this is definitely not Rollo's wireless model which is a Smart IoT Device. To prevent copying Rollo's IP and ensuring customers are receiving legitimate, upgrade able and secure devices, the wireless technology requires device by device activation against Rollo's servers.
Thanks so much for this Video! I've been debating this printer for a little bit now. Would you suggest this for a first time buyer of a label printer? Thanks so much for your time devoted to this review! LOVE how informative you are!

Excellent video! Thank you for your honesty. All the other videos I can find on this are definitely paid or they got the product for free and the reviews seem quite glossed over and biased. Great stuff from this channel
Hello just found your channel and subscribed. I wanted to get your opinion on whether I should purchase this Rollo printer or the Brother thermal printer that you recommended. The price difference between the two doesn't matter as much to me as how well it works and how fast it will print labels consistently without issues. This will be for a small warehouse and we print anywhere from 300-500 FBA labels and 100+ shippings labels per day. Need something that is super fast, no fuss and reliable. We have macs and PCs so need one that works with both if possible. What are your thoughts since you have used both. Or have you ever used a even better thermal printer for commercial use that you would recommend?
I am seeing an option for the exact same printer but it has Zing logo instead of the ROLLO logo, it is is about £50 cheaper, has anyone tried the Zing? Thanks in advance!
I've watched a few of your videos 👍🏼 wanted to know if you have any suggestions for a wireless and or bluetooth 4×6 printer. With no proprietary labels and works with android thanks.
That's a hard one. Print server or some Chinese Bluetooth printer. Brother is the only known wireless printer for 4x6 labels atm, but those are proprietary.
Excellent Video, I prefer my labels to be enclosed inside the printer, not laying around and getting dirty.. I Wonder if Rollo refurbished printers are New printers sold secretly by Rollo but cheaper for those who can't afford new printers. They just brand as Pre-Owned..Believe it or not A lot of companies do that..Very common with Swiss Made Luxury watches, sold as Pre-Owned a few grand cheaper, when in fact they are new unsold stock..
Have you ever bought a thermal printer on Alibaba. I looked at your link and it seems like a credible company as many had reviews on their selection of thermal printers...but wanted to see if you have before...?
Alibaba is one of the biggest e-commerce platforms online. I have bought from there and a lot of these printers come from the same suppliers. Bad reviews usually come from user error and terrible customer experience lost in translation from China.
This may not be for everyone but have my Rollo hooked up to a Linux laptop and I can print labels directly from my Iphone using airprint. Seems like there should be some way to do it under Windows as well but I have never tried so maybe not.
thecollegepicker I set it up when I first got mine so the memory might not be perfect 😂 but I think I just logged into the cups server and set it to share on the network and it showed up as an airprint enabled printer. Not recommended on water bottles since the label will fade over time. (Direct thermal labels in general) For long-term labeling I recommend thermal transfer labels though they are more expensive than direct thermal; not to mention you need a separate thermal transfer label printer.
I have an Alibaba printer on the way as well. Sadly, I ordered it during Chinese New Year (my mistake) and then the coronavirus closed the facilities for another 2 weeks. It's cleared Customs in Los Angeles so it shouldn't be much longer. Oh - and they're sending me a USB/Bluetooth version since they ran out of just the USB version.
