- When people nowadays talk about what Martin Luther wrote about the Jews they’re most likely talking about a document he wrote toward the end of his life titled “On the Jews and Their Lies.” His proposals in that writing are offensive and repugnant. Make no mistake - these things Luther wrote are appalling -- especially in light of the subsequent use and even misuse of those writings in modern times. What Luther wrote can never be excused or condoned. Rather, it can be recognized as a symptom of Luther’s own sin.
And, as is the case with all sin, it arose out of Luther’s own lack of faith and fear that his actions - as well as the actions of fellow Christians - might cause them to be subjected to God’s wrath and damnation. Luther believed the Jews were publicly blaspheming Christ, and he was afraid that to allow such blasphemy was to become implicated in it - and thus subject to the wrath of God.
At the same time, if you take Luther’s writings concerning the Jews out of the context and culture he was writing in, and read them only with a modern day mindset - you could have the misunderstanding that Luther hated Jews simply for being Jewish. This is precisely what some people in the past have done -- and even in the present -- when they point to Luther as an illustration of what is characterized today as anti-Semitism.
Both the root and the cause of Luther’s inexcusable language are easily recognized as sin -- a lack of faith in Jesus. In this, as in all other instances, there is no redeeming character in sin.
And to seek to avoid sin, or to justify it, only serves to increase it. And so Luther, like the rest of us, will have to rest on the promise of Christ’s mercy.
All of this was said and done so you can remember -- A mighty fortress is our God.

Luther should have chosen his words differently, but you can’t deny that the vast, vast majority of Jews are not saved. Most are very left-leaning, and of of those handful that do believe in a personal God are banking their salvation on works and keeping the law.
Kind of like how we were before Christ.

Hello there, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. See John 1:12 for this please. Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?
This is one of the most Luke Warm and sad attempts at making excuses for a man in schisim and anti christ. By thy words thee shall be judged. U must forgive others for Christ to forgive u. And this is the man who added faith and scripture alone to the Word of God? How shameful this is...and how blasphemous.

his proposals in that writing are true and obvious. the jews rejected Christ and in doing so struck down God's hand. their messiah already came, and instead of recognizing Him, they had Him murdered to protect their power on earth.

What a whitewash! What is this? Alternative history? You are telling me that the one of the most noted theologians is honored and has a sect named after him after he wrote all those things? Why not show us some direct quotes? Luther attempted to convert the Jews but he had no success at it. This made him so made that he just went ahead and threw every invective he could think of at them. He wasn't known for being a kind or classy writer. Too many things were written by him while he was on the toilet and made a point of telling the reader. But this is someone whose writings are taught and honored in theologian schools.

Don’t throw the word hate around casually if you don’t want to sound like an ignorant pleb. Read Luther’s book about the Jews. It contains no hatred. It’s about how to talk to them about the gospel.
Hate? You are sorely mistaken. What he wrote was true, and I'm sure he shed many a tear for their mistakes.
Luther was a deeply insecure man. His psychology is highly complex. There's a certain pathology that needs to be understood in the context of his evolution beginning with his relatively unknown childhood , his sudden desire to abandon a legal career for monasticism, his anger at the corruption he lerceived in the church, soon developing into his open hite and railings against Rome, his mangled theology, extreme egotism of a cult leader and disdain and abusive attitude towards critics. Looking at the evolution of protestantism after Luther, it is easy to see how Luther destroyed the best traditions of Christianity, eventually leading to thousands of 'churches' across the world that are at war with each other .
Let us not forget Hitler who acknowledged Luther as the one who gave him his ideas on how to solve the 'Jewish Question ' (sic)
Antisemitism is a Christian tradition going all the way back to Paul. Neither Paul or Luther seemed to have read, "do to others as you would have done to you" , that's something they just say to children. Only the merciful will be blessed with mercy. Since faith is a gift from God, how can a lack of faith be a sin?

A jew is someone who chooses to follow judaism. A jew is not a racial term. Oddly enough, those who say they are jews are the most racist people who ever lived (the talmud, maimonides and his racism etc.)
Judaism is the talmud according to the Jewish encyclopaedia. There is no debate about that.

The Hell's Angels have better police records than the Christian ministers and have committed less grievous crimes. How dare to tar an entire people with alleged behavior when the 'truth' you follow comes from a book and people who murdered people without mercy in the name of God and Jesus.
