    Matter Support is good. Camera system, mmmkay… but where is the HDMI 2.1 Hue Sync Box? :(

    Are there details as to whether or not the Philips Hue cameras will be HomeKit accessible? I haven't yet dug into the details. I suspect they'll still be cost-prohibitive, but they look interesting.

    Oh wow, Australia here so I hope we can get some of these things. So glad Phillips Hue are going into cameras and security etc.

    Cameras, yawn. Still no upgrade on the hub to get around the light limit…

    • @EricWelander
      @EricWelander  Год назад +1

      Yeah I could see a replacement hub angering existing users but a premium / pro hub for power users would be a nice upgrade. I think the cameras are pretty cool, especially with end to end encryption.

      @@EricWelander the thing that turns me off about the cameras is it’s really just another cloud subscription based camera, they’re everywhere now, it’s a saturated market. A pro hub though, well that’s would be a different proposition altogether. In addition the more hue release and ignore the bottleneck that is their current hub the larger that elephant is going to become to people adopting hue.

    • @EricWelander
      @EricWelander  Год назад +1

      Great point on the camera system and on the hub being a challenge for new people.

      Not only do I have two hubs that are maxed out, I have to use two different email accounts to set them up and Alexa only supports one account. I would have been happy if they allowed you to set up multiple hubs under one email or at least fix the Alexa skill. HomeKit doesn’t have that issue. And when you setup of the light switches in HomeKit you loose the dimmer functionality.

      I was feeling the same way but then the trigger alarm and call authorities looked great, I was starting to think that are better than the Aqara cameras, but alas, then came the subscription “Thing”. Put me right off them instantly. The price wasn’t mentioned for the subscription or the cameras themselves but you just know that they will not be cheap being Phillips Hue.

    We need a new HUB philip, with way larger limit and new alexa skill

    From Sydney. Keen on Philip hues camera integration. But won’t buy if it requires a subscription.

    Why would I buy when these things require a bridge but the bridge has limits? 50 devices if I'm not wrong.

    The fact that it'll be Matter-compatible and we don't have to buy a new Bridge means I will get more of their products. Other companies (including Apple with the original HomePod) aren't Matter-compatible, which is frustrating. I'll look into their security cameras when they come out as that might bring me back to Philips Hue for almost everything, rather than segmented and a ton of apps.

    • @leicaman

      Wrong. HomePod has both Matter AND Thread. As well as AppleTV.

    Phillips Hue still is unfortunately charging much more than other manufacturers for all their bulbs and devices than other manufacturers who actually do it better for much cheaper. I doubt that will change.

    I didn’t actually watch the event in full to know how it actually feels, but based on these clips, it makes it seem like a couple guys mansplaining to her how the stuff works 😂 I get they are trying to make it feel more like an interview and more personal, but what an unfortunate way to have setup the event.

    • @EricWelander
      @EricWelander  Год назад +8

      They had a female host interviewing which helps, but I think they could have had other team members presenting instead of the executives to add more diversity to the presentation.

    I don’t want matter in a bridge. I want matter in all my devices and no need for an extra bridge

    • @M3FortiZay
      @M3FortiZay Год назад

      Bridge is better then trying to connect a million lightbulbs and switches. Scan one thing and it brings them all in. I’ll take that over 1 by 1 and a million matter codes to save.
