Alex, despite all his rebellion, is brought to the Topkapi palace. His attitude attracted the attention of Valide Sultan from the first moment. People complain about how ruthless Hurrem was yet they forget how badly Mahidevran abused her in the beginning.
True plus she wouldn't survive in that environment if she was kind ,no kind woman could survive there. Hurrem simply won and contributed in her empire that's why she's called ruthless since no kind person could win there.

Again! People keep complaining about how evil Hurrem was. They completely bypass the fact that everything she did was a reaction from what they did to her! Mahi was the worst of them all. She attacked her because she didn't understand how a Feudal system worked and she completely forgot she was in a damned HAREM! Then Ibrahim...he was his own biggest enemy. He should have NEVER pushed Hurrem to her breaking point. In fact Ibrahim out of ALL of them should have been the most empathetic because he knew what she had been through and had been through it himself. And I feel even in the end Valide grew a soft spot for Hurrem and respected her as her grandchildren's mother but also knew that Hurrem loved her son to death and would do anything for him. Hatice and Nigar's betrayal was ALL on themselves.
Hurrem was a real Fighter ...... in a place where the law is " Survival for the fittest "

Honestly that's why this moment, as well written as it is, makes me want to scream into my hands sometimes. There's *no way* anyone could send poison to the table of the sultan, let alone almost murder a future child of the Ottoman royal family without facing imprisonment and then death. Mahidevran's rank or position as the mother of one of Suleiman's own children certainly wouldn't have saved here like shown here.
Mahidevran is a weak impulsive woman being threatened constantly. What she did is both wrong and big mistake politically, however the difference with hurem is that hurem never regret and never get caught when she poison, get rid and murder other people. And dont forget that the worst kind of poison hurem possesses is her words, with which she consciously inject doubts, accusations, threats and control the foolish sultan

@@HappyStars234 Could have been a placental abruption. Meaning a tear in the placenta. It doesnt always end up in the death of the child, so long it remains attached. Other things could have been placenta previa, where the placenta covers the uterine opening causing bleeding. But that would have HAD to cause the birth to be a c-section. Its impossible to give birth vaginally with placenta previa.

Its not that easy. Mahidevran was the mother of the crown prince and the reason why he kept her in the palace despite all she did was because of mustapha. And well his mother is his mother in the end all she does is for his sake. She is always on his side no matter what. He cannot just get rid of her.
Honestly, the writers really backed themselves into a corner with this one. Because, by rights, this is an action that would have earned Mahidevran exile, if not actual death. She risked the life of a sultan, even before that of an unborn prince, so, honestly, for her to have stayed in the palace after just feels weird, I agree. Particularly because, if anything, Ottoman society placed such high rights on the training and education of sons that, if she was seen to be unfit, she would have had her son taken and probably given to the Valide to be looked after or, in some cases, one of his other concubines. (Otherwise known was, I need a historical au where Hurrem raised Mustafa!)
Even suleyman said it once and probably was the smartest thing he said to hurem while she was bitching "imagine if you were someone else(which means not my wife) after all you have done..." now that says it all
