    Full Range Singing Warm Up.
    Start out with some placement exercises, and quickly moves on to tone matching and agility.
    The final exercise is over an octave in range and spans the secondo passaggio (break). This is perhaps one of the most efficient warm ups I've done on RUclips. If you have questions or comments, please leave them in the comment section or join me at my weekly live event, held here on RUclips on Saturdays at 6pm London time.
    Thanks for watching!

      Most of my shirts are from the Nordstrom Rack. It's the discount shop for Nordstroms. One used to be able to find really nice deals there but last time I went, not so much. Most of my scarves are gifts as my family knows how much I appreciate them. They too are often seconds.
      Based on all that, I could be a covert member of the Weasley family! The hair, what's left of it, is obviously a dye job. :-)

    That's a great training but I still have one question - why on "NG" you don't lower key as you did before? it is from 2:30 min. I tried this worm up several times and then realized that that part is a bit higher for me. Thank's for attention.

      I'm using that there to try to balance the resonance as you ascend into the zona di passaggio. I can understand why that would be difficult, but focus on airflow and the resonance in the aural cavity. If it gets too high, drop out and get back in when you can.
      Best,
      Jeff

    The NG exercise isn't too high for a baritone?

  • @thiagovilla970

    What's the idea behind the NG-AY and NG-AH? Balance resonance?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  7 лет назад +1

      Yes! It helps become aware of how much and what type of resonance we're incorporating into our sounds. When you release the 'NG' consonants try to keep the feeling in the aural cavity the same. Particularly around the nasal pharynx.
      Best!
      Jeff

    • @thiagovilla970
      @thiagovilla970 7 лет назад

      Jeff Rolka Yes that's what I thought. Thanks! So, should I keep the palate raised after the NG and carry that resonance over or should I drop it but keep the resonance?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  7 лет назад +1

      Keep it raised!
      Best,
      Jeff

    As an educator, sometimes you paced a little quick for the vocalist. I could tell that you were taking a comfortable tempo in your hands, but with a slightly beginner, or experimenting vocalist it would be increasingly difficult to follow along with you. Just breathe deeper and slower when you play piano and consciously compensate for the vocalist. Trying to follow along, I felt rushed and like i didn't have adequate time to learn the warmup pattern.

    • @JeffRolka

      Thanks for your feedback! That is in part why I have the beginner's playlist:
      ruclips.net/p/PL2mQP7sE6PHg8wjZBjfJ3HGVqjxBF2swE
      and:
      ruclips.net/p/PL2mQP7sE6PHjuVYyVgdo7VMtwSQvvCHC-
      the latter of which is meant specifically to orient those not accustomed to the patterns that are frequently used in vocal instruction.
      Thanks!
      Jeff
