One of the most annoying issues 😅
I always fix it by creating a rectangle and then attaching my shape to it and delete the rectangle
But this one is faster

This is amazing, I've had this issue with the Sweep modifier since 3dsMax V3. I would just try it and if it worked it worked, if it didn't I'd just model it some other way. :)

I have another method that I used to do ususally
1. Draw a new spline in the same window that section can seems as a plan
2. Attach the new drawn spline to the section
3. Delete the spline and keep the section
Done

@@CGTricks If the solution you specified does not help. I usually create a new spline in the right direction and attach the "broken" spline. Next, I remove the spline that is not needed and the old, "broken" shape works as expected.
