At 3:56 you mention that only 25% of a "club-veterans" salary counts against the cap. That's not true. The cap hit of these players, who have been with the club for at least 4 years, is reduced by 25%, so 75% count against the cap. Otherwise great summary and overview.
there still is a problem, because in the euroleague, unlike the NBA, teams come from very different nations, often with very different laws, which means that teams and players are subject very different tax policies. It's gonna be very hard to implement such a thing in such a system
weird... you are a surprised a league that is not profitable to say the least.... wasn't fining teams who are actively losing money for going OVER an imaginary salary cap? in order to be able to fine a team for going over the cap... first and foremost you have to make sure the league and the teams are PROFITABLE and MARKETABLE. if you are going under every single year then giving teams a fine for SPENDING(losing basically) MONEY to make their rosters better... is some kind of insanity.
It's mainly insurance against a takeover of the players market by the new club from Dubai that may soon join the league. Beyond that, I don't think it will change much...
Teams like panathinaikos and olympiacos even if you remove 2 anchor players, their budget is over 30m, which probably will be higher than 60% average, unless if the product will gain more money during the next 3 years
Last season and this season signings had been phenomenal Idk maybe the teams want to go big before these salary cap is active or whatever But i hope the off season would still be as good even with the cap, if not then EL might actually fucked up, or just remove the cap after like 2 seasons of it 😅
plenty of talk, nothing to show. What would help a lot is couple of diagrams showing how team's spending before and after salary cap is different for small budget and big budget teams.
random (off-topic) question (that you've probably already answered), but what are your favorite teams in the euroleague guys? I'm just starting to follow euroleague since 6-12 months and so far just enjoy the beautiful game..

This is great! I am surprised they didn’t already have this.
Also, they should definitely post player salaries.

@@reignmans What
Salary cap won't affect much teams with big profits. Serbian teams with huge profits from tickets and sponsors will be the most benefited from it

@@christosmallios9823 Take off discounts for players that have been there for a while, and for under-23 players and they may be under

Finally, I 've been waiting for this video sincr the news came. Thank you
5:09 and this season Efes, with the new venue, decreased their capacity from 16k to 10k with no parking space...
If the CEO says that he is “hopeful that this will lead more transparency”… hopeful for more? Dead at birth.

Doubt it will change anything
Its not well done. Too many exeptions and clauses
So the more teams get supported by tickets ,merchandise, sponsors etc the stronger they will be .The big clubs won’t lose just the smaller clubs will .
