This made me start thinking about the time Namjoon was teaching V some English by asking him some questions and V would say "Movie seeing" and "music listening" because that's the order it'd be in in Korean.
yep omg now that i think about it i was always like wait, he's saying it backwards not just because he was learning english but that's how their sentences are structured omgggggg
Right? It all makes sense now 😫 Like, their language sounds weirdly structured to us but our language probably sounds just as strange, if not more strange than Korean. At least in Korean you get to the point faster, with less stress on things that should be obvious with context 😂
What helped me remember sentence order was to think of it in Yoda talk but with the subject omitted XD. "Movie, I saw", "Train, I took", "Apple, I ate" and just minus the "I" and there you have it!
My goal was to be able to watch ww2 german newsreels without subtitles :p, then it was to speak german without accent, and then to be able to speak the Berliner dialekt without accent and then the stage variety (Bühnendeutsch)
I was literally so confused and thought that it was so hard that the verb had to go last and that Korean was such a weird language before I realized that my native language too uses that system and I just never realized it XD
That's so dope, Korean is so practical its amazing. Considering the natural tendency of language of going simpler (abbreviations for example) in order to transmit information quicker, this quirk of the context having such an active role to actually omit whole parts of a sentence is so so coooooool ✨ argh it never fails to impress me
I just remembered an article somewhere that I read. Pretty much the Korean hangul system and sentence structure was made easy so that peasants in the olden days would be able to easily read, write, and speak Korean.

For me sov is easy ,my mother tongue is in sov , while studying I relate korean to my language it is easy rather than in English. I am learning English for a while but it is still tough for me, I think korean is a simple language it has so many similarly with my language.
That's because Spanish and English have a very similar sentence structure, that makes it one of the easiest languages to learn (for native English speakers). I personally know four lanaguages, and two of them have a sentence structure that is similar to Korean, therefore it will be easier for me to learn the language.
In the English order of saying XD If you take a look at the korean subtitles... Example: Your path, you must decide. >>네가 결정해야 한다, 네 길을. (You must decide your path.)
Thank you this was really helpful (sorry to mention BTS) I was watching a video and they said basically bangtan we are. Idk what they said They were introducing themselves and they said bangtan first. I was so confused I almost game up on learning Korean. I didn’t know the grammar would be drastically different.
Well actually, 'Bantan we are.' isn't grammatically correct in Korean either:) But people often use that while talking. +) 'bantan' in the sentence above is not an objective, it's a complement, so it has the similar sentence structure when compared with English. So it's: SOV & SVC Hope this will help you!!
for people that are confused, when i started learning japanese (which has the the same SOV structure) it was explained to me that you had to form sentences the way yoda would. so instead of "It is a pen" you would say "Pen, it is."
*cries in broken korean* the basics got me struggling...but I need to learn cause I love bts and I wanna watch run bts without needing to read sub titles 😭😭😭😭😭😩😩😩
을 and 를 are object markers, they are used after an object and before a verb. they are only used in cases where the verb describes something. try thinking of the verb and then adding "what". i ate (what) and that will mean there needs to be an object marker. like with "eating" you have to be able to eat something. like an apple. and with the verb to watch, you have to watch something. it would be translated like this, I movie(object marker) watch(ed). 을 is used when the korean word has a Pacchim or what is translated as, a consonant at the end of a word like 책 (book). because there is "ㄱ" you have to use을 because a consonant like "ㄱ" can not go with another consonant "ㄹ". so it would be written like this 책을. and for an example with a vowel, 개를 (dog). 저는 책을 읽었어요 - "i (topic marker 은/는 - same Pacchim thing) book(object marker) read" - i read the book.
를 is the direct object partivle.. You put 를 after the word that is the object of the sentence. Just like they've shown in the example: (I) ate an apple. You can learn more of this by searching it on the internet or ask a Korean friend if you have one :D Don't mark my words about the explanation, it might be incorrect, I'm not a native speaker.
