Thank you @doctormo! I already was in love with Inkscape and 1.3 is tremendous. Feel like a beginner again learning how to get the most out of Shape Builder and that's all part of the fun. I'll say it again and again- I'm so grateful for all your hard work and what you do.
Love your tutorials Rick! Could you please show us how you create the vertical color palettes you use in your videos? I know you can create custom palettes along the bottom menu however the vertical blocks you create are very cool!
Thanks!! I'll make a video tonight to show an easy way to do this. You can create the squares on the canvas and choose the fill colors OR ... the new video will show a trick to do it almost instantly from a source photo.
Nice! I had been tinkering with shape builder for a couple months, but had no idea there was templates! So, thanks for the that. Unrelated subject.... Inkscape needs to add export to *.stl files! would save me one application step before going to the 3D printer.
@@IronEchoDesign It would require calling your other program via a command, and wrapping that in some python. If the other program can be called like that then you can save yourself a lot of time. I've been commissioned to write those kinds of extensions for people before, but it's also not hard for a novice programmer.
The new improvements to both GIMP and Inkscape are most welcome to the freelance graphic artist/designer to whom the Adobe monthly subscription model is rather unappealing.
your videos are awesome. can you teach how to take inspiration from pictures. for example designer make moodboard and then convert those collected images in the moodboard to design. i dont know how designer can take inspiration from images and make designs which are not same but also giving the feel of the images
I actually just made a video on how to do color palettes. You can also take a screenshot of the video and paste it into your Inkscape canvas. ruclips.net/video/HIALqgFvPlw/видео.html
Your tutorials are awesome, just thinking of way you can add me to your students. Thank you and well done.
One of my favorite tools of Inkscape! thanks
Now, mine too. Thanks!
Nice tutorial Rick.
Thank you!!
NICE! I’ve been waiting for this video from you brother! Thank you!
Thanks! I was putting it off until I got comfortable with it, but last night I thought…why not just do it.
Thanks Rick, im in love with this feature can you do more tutorials about it please?
Thanks Jake! I have a feeling there's a lot of cool things to make with this. More ro come!
The template tip is very useful, thanks! Looking forward for more.
Thanks! I'll keep making more!
thank you!!
Great work! If it makes way too many nodes, can you just do a Simplify or will that distort?
Thanks! Simplify is a great idea, especially for rectangular shapes. If it distorts you can always spot fix if needed.
Nice tutorial :) I would like to add that the Fracture and Flatten commands (from the Path Menu) and the Shape builder work on raster images as well.
Thank you!
@@IronEchoDesignThe raster image shape builder isn't out yet! It's in 1.4 developer branch, but not in 1.3. Sorry all, I did it after 1.3 was out.

Thanks! I always love a good template. Ha. You’re right about the .stl option. That would be nice.

How many nodes? Shape builder is crazy with nodes.
Great point. ShapeBuilder is known to generate extra nodes everywhere.

Can you make a tutorial on travel poster ?
Hey rick
I didnt find this shape builder templates in my inkscape
is this type of logo is for t-shirt only or also for brand.and what is the name of this type of logo
It could be for a t-shirt or brand logo. I would call it a geometric logo as far as the type.

how do i upgrade to 1.2 to 1.3 using chromebook
I will be doing the same with an old net book soon. Inkscape.org is the place to go. Its free and the 1.3 download will replace 1.2 automatically.
Inside the shape builder tool you can click and drag from one region to region to 'union' them. This will save you from using Path > union.
didnt ask
