Top video sir - you just missed TMC having those hymeks at 89 quid a week or 2 ago. Random request but would be great to see a little tour of your layout with some coments on your inspirations 👍
Excellent video, i actually took advantage of Rails of Sheffield discounting the LNER Mk4 coaches. First time i've ever owned a full scale length passenger train!
Hello again Eugene, you have just cost me nearly all my winter fuel allowance, Ooh I forgot I'm not getting any! I have just bought from Kernow the Hornby HST Rail Adventure, I was tempted to buy this when it came out as I think it is a fascinating livery, but would not pay the price. So when I watched your as always brilliant video I bought it from Kernow, at Hornby it is £363, Rails and TMC £290 therefore at £250 from Kernow it is a bargain. I have a rake of the Heljan 5115 IGA bogie flat Rail Adventure which is why I purchased the HST. Unfortunately I sold my Heljan 5020 Rail Adventure ferry vans a while ago which go with this HST, if anyone knows where I can buy some I would be very grateful. I have searched the net and dealers with no joy. I always watch all of your videos as they are always interesting AND informative, Bill.
Just one to add, Rails have Hornby 66748 for less than £60 brand new. Say what you like about the detail but for an entry level 66 that’s very good value. I like the grey livery too but have too many 66s as it is. I also picked up some Midland Pullman mk3s for 19.95 each too. Fantastic price for the mk3 coaches, even though I don’t have the matching power car set.
I do have two of the locomotives shown. The Bachmann class 24035 is a superb model, I got mine a couple of years ago for the very good price of £220, at £190 thats excellent. It runs very well, and the disc headcode lighting is just great. I also have a non sound Heljan class 33, bought for £99. It runs very well, but has poor lighting. Thanks for your bargains video, always interesting.
Revolution Trains FWA's are on offer at Kernow. Good price for these as the RRP was a bit steep. I purchased both GBRF and Freightliner versions. There is also a bundle with a class 90 which is good value. Tempted with this.
Hi Eugine. Thanks for taking the time to highlight the latest bargains. I snapped up the Heljan 33 in Fragonset livery with the additional jumper cables (thought it looked more interesting!) from Rails. I tried to talk them into selling it to me for £89 like some of the others, but they wouldn't play ball. But then I got the "Extra 5%" coupon, so no complaints. Not run it yet, as I'm away on holiday. Those modern image coach deals are excellent. Although my tastes are pretty eclectic, my only HST cars are either in original or Inter-City Exec, so I'll not be taking advantage of them. That church was at a great price, too.
I have become quite a commentator on your channel. Like many others I get a multitude of e mails on bargain offers. Generally they are not of interest to me and I don’t get attracted by them although they are maybe of good value. What really irritates as a collector is the two or three year wait for pre orders of what I do want! I am much less likely nowadays with current price trends to buy something which might be “ nice to have” but not of my main interest. We are becoming priced out of the market for many items that really seem to matter. Interested to see any comments on this.
Thanks John. I think it's notable that there we no Accurascale/IRM models on the list. These are set at a reasonable price from the get-go and hence no need for the 50% discounting on the Heljan 33s for example which had crazy RRPs. Every now and again I find a bargain on something that I liked originally but felt was too costly out the gate to purchase, but you have to be disciplined about this. Pre-orders really do lock you in and of course you're usually paying full price or 10% discount at best for them.
@@EuviRail I agree re being careful about the value about what we buy. I have pre orders for a deltic and the 89 class from Accurascale which a) are what I want and b) what I consider to be of good value ( and investment if you want). My other pre orders are the 201 class from Murphy which I particularly want and Rapido Jones goods. Whilst I am willing to pay the price for those I am put off from pre ordering in the future by the ridiculous waiting times.
Kernow had the cargo wagons on for £279.99 for four. I don't model electric stock, but I now wish I had gone for that bundle as would have got the class 90 for around £90. I do like the class 90's and think they are a good looking loco and wear different liveries well especially the Freightliner green and newer orange livery. If the loco was either Freightliner liveries, I would have been more tempted.
Hopefully hornby’s price increases wont effect railroad models and a couple of other ones. Also when the prices increase, will they imcrease at retailers that have them discounted too? For example the Hornby class 60 at £119? Would that no longer be £119?
One would hope that pre-existing stock that's at the retailers will hold their prices and that it will only be the Hornby website and new stock that's affected. If stock had been ordered before the deadline day, I would hope that would hold to the current prices. Historically, Hornby have honoured pre-order prices so I would hope that holds true.
You can see how much the industry is suffering from people being careful with their discretionary spending. Hornby dumping large amounts of stock into their tier 1 and 2 retailers by the looks, and online. Not very fair on the smaller independent retailers.
Yeah, they would appear to be doing a bit of a warehouse cleanout. The independents should do a bit better with their existing stock now that the RRPs have notched up.
Note that No. 9 on my list, the weathered Bachmann 47526 from TMC is in fact the re-tooled version and not the older version.
Good selection of models looked at. The retailer's definition of a 'bargain' these days is not much of a bargain! Thanks for uploading.
Thanks for that. Yeah, 25% off an overpriced model to start out with is hardly a bargain.

Thanks for that. Layout tour is in the pipeline.
The Heljan Class 33 are really excellent runners and great value for money - cheapest prices are at Rails of Sheffield
100%. I have my eye on one of them.
Hi and thanks for this!
Bought a class 105 Craven (31-325) new from Rails of Sheffield Apr 17 for £79.50 + £2.00 P&P. OK - it wasn't weathered! 🤨
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing Bill. I had a few of those Ferry vans as well and let them go a couple of years ago. You never know do you?

Hard to complain with 60 euro for a Hornby 66. I picked up a full rake of those MK3s for the same price - super looking coaches. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing that Ian. Heljan traditionally not great on the lighting front from what I've seen though good runners.
Very informative! Thank you.
Thanks for that.

Hi Jonathan, those FWAs were pricey alright. I missed that deal with the Freightliner Class 90 - that could be appealing to a few folks.

Hi Stephen, for £89 it's hard to wrong with of these. Thanks for sharing.

Agree that Bachmann Craven is a good buy, Very pleased with mine. Only a 8pin which may put some folk off.
Thanks for sharing that.

The Bachmann Class 47 526 is the latest version
It's the previous version so the sound is 21-pin ESU as opposed Plux-22 based.
Apologies, I stand corrected - it is the retooled version. I do TMC a dis-service. I'll pin a comment and update the description.

Get thee behind me, Satan. My credit card is already maxed from the sales and these look great, gibber……🤦♂️
