This rings so true in the music industry. You have to tell your story to communicate how you are the right solo guitarist, solo pianist, band etc. for the gig you want to play.
Outstanding as always Daniel. As someone whose parents were both teachers I can with all confidence say, "You sir, are a great teacher". Thank you for taking us on this Scotch/Whiskey History 101 adventure. Please keep up the great work.
My take away from your engaging story telling is that we are all connected in various ways including our shared ideas. I come to these videos first and foremost for the storytelling and then the whiskey. Thanks Daniel. Cheers.
I loved this Ardbeg expression! I just managed to get a bottle recently! Ardbeg is always a massive treat! Terrific message Daniel!! So enjoyable!! Have an awesome day!! 🙂
C.G.Jung Describes this phenomenon as the Collective Unconscious. You nailed the concept right on the head. This reminds me of a great book by Austin Kleon titled "Steal like an Artist" definitely worth a read. on a side note. Im a huge fan of this new format🥃
2:58 I've heard that Woodford Reserve claims to use only pot stills, but in fact uses both column and pot stills. My understanding is that most Texas distilleries use pot stills - I know that Balcones does (they got their stills from Forsyth in Scotland). I find I can't tell the difference - Balcones whisky is *extremely* distinctive, but there are other factors there in addition to the stills. As it happens I'm sipping on Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon even as I watch. 🤠
Daniel…look up the band Spafford. 30 minute ballads in a jam band style with a funky jazzy vibe. Give them some time, and then don’t miss them if they happen to arrive close to you. It is an experience with or without whiskey. Always innovating and touring hard. My 2 cents Ardbeg is in my blood too 😉
Hey so random idea, the academy isn't local, I'm lucky to visit once or twice a year, love the place to death and being an alumn and a member of online is great... what if you walked in, touched something random, and told the story behind it? In my head that'd be a cool way to come up with more stories. Like everyone else, love the direction and approach you took. We're all her from trust and love and I think all of us appreciate every video, and our time together. Cheers!
It was some sort of painting done for Wizard Academy by an artist from LA depicting the three wisemen. that's one of the origins of the name Wizard Academy
Please go into the nerdiness I know you’re busy but I personally… (idk or give a shot about everyone else) would love a video a week or every other week or even once month, would LOVE for you to go into some nerdy ass shit cause i love watching people be passionate about stuff they love and find interesting. Thats all thank you.
9:12 there is a scientific explanation for this. People don't come with the same idea at the same time. They have these ideas constantly, but the whole society needs to be developed for certain ideas to work. An author Jared Dimond gives the example of the printing press. The Phaistos Disc was made on the island of Crete around 1800-1600 B.C. It is a clay disk, on which there is a text, and the text is press on, kinda like a printing press. So the Ancient Cretans had the same idea as Gutenberg. But the idea never caught on - having a printing press when you don't have paper is useless.
i dont know about living but if you think about it a thought just comes to mind and you cant create a thought from scratch, in fact, it just doesnt make sense to talk about it that way. so theres a real sense in which thoughts are somehow out there. we could always get more philosophical by asking whether thoughts are objectively out there or they merely appear to be becuz we share a certain structure of intellect...
How do you distinguish people across the world having the same ideas independent from each other with the notion of trends? There is undeniably overlap between the two but where do the lines stop blurring?
All innovations are basically taking previous innovations and combining them in a unique way (i.e., "standing on the shoulders of giants"). Also, have you seen the RUclips channel/documentary "Everything is a Remix"? 🙂
Excellent talk on ideas and their evolution. As for the new Ardbeg Anamorphic, two things will keep me away from it. One is the price and second the use of a 700 ml. bottle, instead of the 750 ml. Inflation and Shrinkflation all in one bottle. Sorry, sounds great........just can't afford it.
I understand that figuratively "ideas as living things", but the fact is that ideas are not scarce. They can appear simultaneously anyware and anytime. The real matter is who is actualy abble do implement them.
I agree with what you say about first not necessarily meaning best: when I went to Ireland and to their whiskey museum they said they made it first, and at the time before I discovered your channel, my exact thought was “sure, but the Scots made it better.” While I still prefer scotch to Irish whiskey, I’m now able to appreciate the differences between the different varieties in part due to your channel. I do have something else to say but I’ll leave that for another comment
Not gonna lie, I miss the old format. This new thing was fun at first, but is already getting kinda old. Maybe you can get other guests on (like other soms from the school so there is no conflict) to change things up a bit.
I just love these videos of you talking over a good dram. Keep it up Daniel!
This rings so true in the music industry. You have to tell your story to communicate how you are the right solo guitarist, solo pianist, band etc. for the gig you want to play.
Always loved the Ardbeg too. But the storytelling is what makes these videos! Keep up the good work!!
Thanks for the great stories, advice, and a way to look at things in a way I haven't yet, please keep it up
3/5 stars wouldn't change a thing
3/5 stars wouldn't change a thing has now become a phrase my teenage boys and I use on each other on an almost weekly basis. Thank you for that :-)
Well then I genuinely wouldn't change a thing
I love it!
And yes, you are certainly not alone with this kind of thought!
Outstanding as always Daniel. As someone whose parents were both teachers I can with all confidence say, "You sir, are a great teacher". Thank you for taking us on this Scotch/Whiskey History 101 adventure. Please keep up the great work.
Absolutely love these videos, Daniel. Thank you. "Innovation comes from application" - wise words.
Great episode Daniel! Right on target about ideas looking for people to birth them.
It's so funny we did the same whisky today. Ideas certainly are living things as they grow and change and generally for the better. Cheers
I loved my recent chance to get a bottle of Anamorphic! I like it a lot! I will check out your video for sure! Cheers! 🙂
Great story. You nicely described Plato’s vision
Thank you Daniel
My take away from your engaging story telling is that we are all connected in various ways including our shared ideas. I come to these videos first and foremost for the storytelling and then the whiskey. Thanks Daniel. Cheers.
love you Daniel
Thanks for the story 😊
Cheers to Community 🥂

excellent ending note. Glad I stayed for the whole vid.
This idea shows how we are all a bit more connected than we realize

Here for ALLLLL THE ARDBEGS! 🎉
Great ep as always... Sad there was no outro song, I really enjoy it along with your sign off

It has probably been asked before, but what is the painting on the wall behind you?
It was some sort of painting done for Wizard Academy by an artist from LA depicting the three wisemen. that's one of the origins of the name Wizard Academy
2:30. Not going in the nerdienes of the column still. But that's why where here
Please go into the nerdiness

Thanks for the video but Ardbeg 10 & Uigeadail is still my favorite
Welcome all Whiskey Vaulters to Story Time with Daniel! (Numbered Bona Fide card came in the mail yesterday)
sweet! Those cards are crazy heavy, right? I love them :-)
@@WhiskeyVault, I love the details, like the metal cutouts that add an extra dimension to the design.

Collective conscience
Lezzzz GOOOO!!!
How do you distinguish people across the world having the same ideas independent from each other with the notion of trends? There is undeniably overlap between the two but where do the lines stop blurring?
You cannot stop an idea who's time has come.
Is this like the "first legal distillery in Texas" vs the "first legally distilled Texas Whiskey sold" ?
All innovations are basically taking previous innovations and combining them in a unique way (i.e., "standing on the shoulders of giants"). Also, have you seen the RUclips channel/documentary "Everything is a Remix"? 🙂
The only thing I dislike about Ardbeg is that it's not more available, best Whiskey on the market.
Trey Anastasio from the band Phish once said, "The music is in the universe and we tap into it"
That sounds exactly like something Phish would say
@@WhiskeyVault Hah! Very much.

Plato’ heaven. That is what you are describing.
Yes! Hyperuranion
Existential, animistic, ethereal.... Dan the whiskey guru!
When the moon is in the 7th house ...
And Jupiter aligns with Mars ...
FIRST!
the idea of being first , is dead
Somebody didn’t pay attention 😂
What is the Idea of ideas? Check out the books, Ideas That Changed the World by Felipe Fernández-Armesto and Mortimer Adler's The Great Ideas.
😁🤔🙌🏻
I understand that figuratively "ideas as living things", but the fact is that ideas are not scarce. They can appear simultaneously anyware and anytime. The real matter is who is actualy abble do implement them.
I think we agree on that
I think this is a similar idea to memetics.

Daniel - I'm not gonna go into the nerdiness of how column stills work.
Me - 😭
Has Rex gone? Or is he busy distilling
We've had to split the Vault/Wizard Academy side from CrowdedBarrel/Tribe. details are on a Tribe video from November 11
Wow I missed that sorry guys
Ahh ardbeg
61👍
Building a better mouse trap!
I don't know, a wise man once said, "If you're not first, you're last".....
Slaìnte🥃

I am so sorry for an end of an era, but to paraphrase Oscar Wilde, either your religious iconography goes, or I go

Nah...Daniel keep it up. You are hitting the mark.
Please please please go back to the old format of you both reviewing whisky, your killing your channel!
