    School director Charles demonstrating the Roland Guitar Synthesizer pedal, with an eye for presets (patches) that work well with strumming full chords.
    Charles used the GR-55 with a Godin xtSA guitar, a Fishman Loudbox mini for the piezo/acoustic output, a Galaxy hotspot for the synth output and a Positive Grid Spark amp for the electric guitar output.

    Hey Charles....what are your thoughts of the new Boss GM-800? I was ready to pickup the Gr-55 to go with my Godin Nylon string multiac but that new Boss gear seems so damn cool. Love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for any advice.

    What a treat to this !!! My question is - how does the RMC midi in the xtSA compare to a GK-3 mounted on a sold body electric guitar (I am using that currently on an S2 PRS 594). Do you find that the RMC is superior, and if so, in what ways? I am thinking about purchasing an xtSA. Many thanks for your efforts and inspiration.

      glad you liked it! Thanks for watching. This is the only guitar synth system that I have owned, so I don't know how to answer your question.... hoping some other viewer will chime in in the comments!

      I play solo at church I was wondering if it would work to fatten up the sound. It sounds great strumming

    Great demo. I have the identical XTsa and the GR 55. I dont use it much because of a terrible background noise that appears within a couple minutes of turning the unit on. It doesn't matter if I have the 13 pin cable connected or not. It is present on all outputs from the GR 55. It is a rhythmic oscillating noise that slowly gets louder, and then a strange squealing accompanies the rhythmic oscillation. It reaches a certain volume and is always present. It changes slightly with patch changes but never stops. I have to crank the noise suppressor on my mixing console nearly all the way up. Anyone else have this issue?

      I hope you get some insight from other watchers. You could post a comment on my other GR-55 video too, because it's got a lot of traffic. I haven't had any issues with mine, but gear can be weird. My newest Focusrite interface seems to be suddenly creating a wall of static noise and it's only a couple months old, so??

    Hi! How are you? I am curious about your guitar. What model?

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  Год назад +1

      It's a Godin xtSA. There may be a more specific sub-model designation but I dont know it off the top of my head. It's a Canadian company and I have 9 of their instruments now. It has a synth driver (obviously) but also an impressive acoustic simulation / piezo pickup...so there are three possible outputs that are completely independent. feel free to ask any other questions you have about it.

    Can you play a guitar and get a decent bass sound out of it?

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  Год назад

      I think there are 3 components to that: 1) how well it tracks 2) whether you like the bass samples in the GR 55 and 3) what are you running it into. my answers at this point would be 1) pretty well, but I dont think it would make a Red Hot Chili Peppers level of busyness in a bass line sound spot on 2) I probably should make a separate video on this 3) it'll sound good if you are running it to something other than a guitar amp...i.e. a keyboard amp or a PA system

    joe!! no sabes tocar otra cosa? , todo suena igual

    • @kaleidoscopeschool
      @kaleidoscopeschool  8 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure what "joe" means but when I'm testing gear I tend to focus highly on the sound of the gear not what I'm playing. A co guitarist in a band with me once (with deserved humor) imitated my round of warmup chords back to me because apparently I use the same ones subconsciously. As a professional teacher who's done over 60,000 private lessons I can play a ton of things so I guess it's funny that I get in ruts when testing gear. I'm sorry if that was bothersome to you while watching. Check out my many guitar covers. I promise I'll satisfy anyone's bar for diversity.

      Using Google to translate:
      No estoy seguro de lo que significa "joe", pero cuando pruebo equipo tiendo a concentrarme mucho en el sonido del equipo, no en lo que estoy tocando. Un coguitarrista de una banda conmigo una vez (con humor merecido) me imitó mi ronda de acordes de calentamiento porque aparentemente uso los mismos inconscientemente. Como profesor profesional que ha realizado más de 60.000 lecciones privadas, puedo tocar un montón de cosas, así que supongo que es gracioso que me quede estancado cuando pruebo el equipo. Lo siento si eso te resultó molesto mientras mirabas. Echa un vistazo a mis numerosas versiones de guitarra. Prometo que satisfaré el listón de diversidad de cualquiera.
