Like the Dead, WideSpread does this for the music, not the money. One of the most underrated bands ever. If this sound doesnt go through to your soul, your'e all ready dead.
people used to joke about these boys being a traffic cover band when i started listening to them in the late 90s. WSP is my heart man, they have such a great rang in what they cover too
The sound they get from combo amps and bass cabs is incredible. Bigger is not always better. Musicians, true musicians, make anything they play sound better. This is a phenomenal rendition. Prost!
Didn't go in the school house until this track was over!!! I can remember everything about this song, every word. more than I can say for school. learned what great music is, the best I got out of either.
I remember a Low Spark from HORDE 1993 @ Lakewood Amp. That was a fun year, & Superjam III a month or so earlier that year! Superjam IV (1994) a storm kicks up-JUST for Panic, knocked out the stage lights! We're soaked & watchin em everytime lightning strikes- They had to stop after only an hour maybe, but I'll never forget it.. !!!
Capaldi said: Pollard and I would sit around writing lyrics all day, talking about Bob Dylan and the Band, thinking up ridiculous plots for the movie. Before I left Morocco, Pollard wrote in my book 'The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.' For me, it summed him up. He had this tremendous rebel attitude. He walked around in his cowboy boots, his leather jacket. At the time he was a heavy little dude. It seemed to sum up all the people of that generation who were just rebels. The 'Low Spark,' for me, was the spirit, high-spirited. You know, standing on a street corner. The low rider. The 'Low Spark' meaning that strong undercurrent at the street level...
I bought this Traffic album when it came out. Maybe I'm just tired of the same old Traffic versions but I like this cover best. Only thing missing is that fantastic last dissonant chord in the original. JH solo here is stellar.
Saw them in Wilmington last 2x. They did it like always. Electric... Me =29× now . Son= 14x now I told me 10 yrs ago let go see what daddy loves . On the way home . his words .daddy ? " when is the next show"" . so GOOD.
Indeed a very good cover. It's just not the same as Steve Winwood's original. It is missing the brass, however I believe Steve is still very proud of this version by WSP.
Yeah-if you cant play a cover as well or better than the original you should not do it. Especially if you are playing big venues. Steve Winwood has a great voice and tough to do better. Good playing.
Yeah jimmy shreds wicked hard indeed..........this band REALLY REALLY grew on me after the switch from Mike Houser to him.........liked them before but didn't like how Houser would always quarter-note the volume pedal.........just didn't like Houser's lead work man
The use of the word 'underrated' as a critical device is highly overrated. To me, the use of the word always suggests that the person who offers it in praise of anyone or anything has nothing interesting or constructive to say but insists on saying it anyway. In this case, Widespread Panic has been around (at this point) for thirty five years, is widely beloved, and (according to Wikipedia) they "they hold the record for number of sold-out performances at Red Rocks Amphitheatre (Morrison, Colorado) at 60 and State Farm Arena (Atlanta) at 20". 'Underrated' my ass...
A nice version of Traffic's original from 1972. No offence, but the magnificent Steve Winwoods singing this is never going to be even poorly copied, no matter the effort put in here.
I think his style is very different from Steve Winwood. But I would not say he is better. (Actually I prefer Steve - while I like this guy a lot too. Steve is a less conventional guitarist - becouse he is a pianist. :) )
Probably not..but you are the only person to use the word bloody to describe JB's voice..In Athens Gee-A the word Bloody is usually reserved for friday night fun and Sunday morning coming down.

I love the piano in this one
Bingo
9 years later, this couldn't be more true!
Dead and Co are in it for the money. lol
Love this band and the songs they pick to cover. Lots of younger people don’t know Traffic and that is a shame! They do the song justice
long live Traffic
people used to joke about these boys being a traffic cover band when i started listening to them in the late 90s. WSP is my heart man, they have such a great rang in what they cover too
I used to think this was a panic song... I'm an '89 babbie though haha
One of their best covers! Love Traffic!!
The sound they get from combo amps and bass cabs is incredible. Bigger is not always better. Musicians, true musicians, make anything they play sound better. This is a phenomenal rendition. Prost!
Nice cover of one of the great timeless songs. I thought for a while I had traveled back to the early 70's.
kingofcanton me too
Didn't go in the school house until this track was over!!! I can remember everything about this song, every word. more than I can say for school. learned what great music is, the best I got out of either.
The world's best, and most underrated, band.
Why do you say that?
5 years later, still a very true statement my friend 🤘🏻
still holds up
Anyone playing this song in such a high level interpretation is forcing me to take my hats off.
I love Steve W and Traffic, but damn these cats really throw it down. Amazed

I remember this song from long nights in the 1970's, it was like an oasis, this is a good version
this is one of my all time favorite traffic songs & wsp definitely does justice to this song
This one will send chills down your spine... spooky..
Great uploads......you sir are a genius. Pro quality much appreciated.

Love Winwood, but geez...you'd think WSP wrote this......so tight & shiny.
Smuck u compare to winwood they wish to shine steve's shoes
Saulius Mrozinskas i finessed ur bitch
Tight and shiny. Nice!
They kill it every time they cover it!
Indeed a very good cover. It's just not the same as Steve Winwood's original. It is missing the brass, however I believe Steve is still very proud of this version by WSP.
+Wade Blanks And missing Steve Winwood's excellent vocal track.
saw them play this on 07/07/2010 Orpheum Theater minneapolis mn and it blew my fuckin' mind! Love U Widespread! :)
love that song.
Damn I can't wait for Spring Tour!
Love that WSP and Tedeschi/Trucks are covering "hard to cover" classics "live." The "autotune" cover was coming and dismissed.

The two people who disliked this song are deaf.
Steve Perry parking lot is the best app for me
Whatever I do I add you all
To think Winwood was only like 20 when he wrote it...
Guitar solo rips on the Gibson!
Now if Stevie would join them!! Two of my favorites
They played together at lockn in 14 it waa the best thing I've ever seen
@@caseyheld796 and Bonnaroo 2002
Needed more coda, IMO. Fine job, though; best cover of this great song I think I've ever heard.

Yeah-if you cant play a cover as well or better than the original you should not do it. Especially if you are playing big venues. Steve Winwood has a great voice and tough to do better. Good playing.
Play it differently or not, they pay tribute, and imho WSP pays very well🎸🎶🔊

Listen to the ORIGINAL of this song and be blown away
think WSP is awesome....but wish they only did covers. Most of the covers are better than the original but their own material doesn't do it for me.
They listen to blurred lines, and grt weak in the knees. Over Robin.
Mooovie cowgirl goblin protects me
No! Goblins are giving you a good idea to do so
Very Big Herring, fine band , John Bell is fine too but his pitch is awkward ! ;-)

Can't compare with the Traffic version, neither vocals or instruments. Sorry.
it's a cover not a clone ...don't applogize for your ignorance
But that guitar jimmy? No one from traffic can play like that...and percussion shits all over traffics...clown.
No one like Dave Schools either!
I think his style is very different from Steve Winwood. But I would not say he is better. (Actually I prefer Steve - while I like this guy a lot too. Steve is a less conventional guitarist - becouse he is a pianist. :) )
Am I the only person who cannot stand Bell's voice? Musically they are good but I find his voice to be very irritating.
To each his own…
Probably not..but you are the only person to use the word bloody to describe JB's voice..In Athens Gee-A the word Bloody is usually reserved for friday night fun and Sunday morning coming down.
