Hi! I have never attempted to make bread ever in my life, and yesterday I tried your Creole Bread Recipe... it was AMAZING!!!!!! Thank You so much for sharing.
I love to revisit our videos . I havent made this bread yet, but I have made the BUN so many times. I am going to do the bread this time. Everything I have tried I have made it perfectly.. I have dubbed you my "AUNTIE" and my mother laughs. My family is Belizean , but she says I claim everyone that makes me happy.AND I DO!!!
Want to say thanks The Bare Pantry Show, for the first time i ever made bread in my life. i followed your directions and it came out prefect. my wife love it . thanks thanks so much.
Thank you for the recipe. I tried this last night and it came out wonderful. However, instead of using active yeast I used instant yeast. The bread was soft and light and my family enjoyed it. Hats off to you!
TheBikerGurl Instant yeast works just as good as active dry, except you don't have to let that rise first. I'm glad yours came out great. We worked for about 8 months back in 1988 to perfect this recipe. So glad to share it with the world.
I searched for creole bread out of curiosity and I was thrilled to know there was a video on this, and that it was made by a Belizean. this was an excellent step by step video.
Love you miss barb.you make everything so simple and easy.keep doing what you do.God bless you and the family.i try some of your recipe came out great.love it.
Since I started watching your videos my mom said I don't call her for recipes anymore. I really enjoy them all, and it helps me get a little taste of home even though I'm all the way in Germany.
I stumbled across your show on RUclips while trying to find a good recipe for Creole Bread. This is GREAT!!! I will be watching a lot of these videos to bring a little Belize into my home (I now live in Reno, no Belizean restaurants here). I will also impress my family when they come to visit! Thank you for doing this!!!!
Hi Christine, I'm glad you found me. You will not be disappointed because they Belizean recipes I have here at the site are precise and sooo good. Come back and tell me how your impressed your family.
Wow!! So glad you guys were spared 1st of all, and so happy you found me. Congrats on all the good food you guys had to weather the storm. I do remember those days when we were holed up waiting for hurricane as a child growing in Belize. We just took a trip to Utah and we took bread, bun and poda bun. It was fun and we never ran out of food.
This recipe like all others I have seen online are all modern day version of creole bread not the traditional old school version and done only on a firehart. P.S. I don't always have access to firehart in the US but I personally will never make creole bread if not its not done with real coconut milk grated fresh. I remember very well how my Mom and grandmother made both bun and bread and were always sold out. At first we used to go out to sell as kids and we got to the point where people would be on waiting list to pick up bread and but.at our house. Traditional creole bread has a certain texture not seen in any of the online version of Belize Creole Bread. Perhaps on day I will share.
My goodness those breads look absolutely wonderful and so moist. I love that you used coconut milk in the recipe. Yum, thanks so much for showing us this recipe.
I just want to say I love your show. You seem like you have a heart of gold :) I am Puerto Rican and love to make dishes from many different cultures and found your channel and I'm hooked. I wish you the best and look forward to many more videos ;)
Hi msstephsofly88, you made me smile. Wow all the way in Germany huh? Of course I know the show can be seen anywhere, but it always makes me marvel when I learn where the viewers are located. Because I'm just looking into the lens of a camera, I tend to forget that its not only the people in my house seeing me. Thanks for commenting. Stay safe!
Thank you so much nycole69.. if you mastered the bread then the bun will be a cinch. Only difference is a little bit more sugar and the spices. It took Joe and me long time to perfect the recipes and we love when it come out great for you guys. Your comment gave me great joy today. We will stay safe for Labor day and you do the same. Come back and tell me about the bun okay.
I made bread for the first time ever using this recipe last week. And it came out great! I got 4 loaves and it was heavenly and light and raised beautifully! Everyone loved it...I love you! Thank u again. Im venturing to bun tonight and came for the recipe :) Hope you and your family are great. Hv a safe labor day weekend!
Hi Fitange, lets just say I didn't do well on my diet on Sunday when I made those breads. You are right, the coconut milk is the secret to making it moist. I'll do another bread soon that even though made with yeast they only have to rise once. Some of my old customers saw the show and wanted me to go back into business. :)
Thanks for commenting 13uds13lunts...so glad your bread came out great. I really love it when you guys make the recipes and they work the same way they do for me. I will make another bread recipe soon that will only have to knead once instead of twice. You will love it.
Hi Greta. Thanks for the idea about putting the yeast in the milk. I use to to it that way when I was making the buns for sale, but I stopped after I had a few bad episodes of stale yeast and wasted not only my yeast, but milk. Back in those days I use to buy yeast by the pound though and the last batch of it would go bad. I know it's so fattening that's why I made it for the show and gave them away promptly. :)
Hi TheZolaGuna, not even 5 minutes. Once you add the liquids and the whole mass is forming, then it's just a matter of a few minutes to make it smooth.
Bare pantry: I can't wait to fix the johnny cakes. My friends back in San Diego used to make it and I haven't had it in a very long time. Thanks Audrey
I make creole bread also but I put the yeast in the coconut milk whisk it really well and warm it in the MC and let it sit in the MC for 10 mins without opening the door. I also let my dough raise three times. I also do a few other different steps than you, but your bread looks great, I swear I could smell it from here. I don't make bread too often as I know how fattening it is. Wish there was something to take the fat out of it. Hmm? Keep making the show.
Thanks Sweetie, would love to learn some Puerto Rican foods too. My mom is coming back from Belize tonight and I'm so excited because she says someone sent me 2 Nicaraguan recipes to try...I love all the Caribbean culture. I think European, Italian and even Soul food is represented widely on t.v and the NET, but not our Caribbean foods. So I'm gonna persist until it's mainstreamed.
This bread is awesome and easy to make (I had never made bread before). Last March I spent a week in belize and fell in love with the food! I had fryjacks almost every morning, and rice and beans, stew chicken, ducunu, and fried fish several times. I had some coconut bread very similar to this from a street vendor on Caye Caulker. However, it had a stronger coconut flavor than this bread. What would be your suggestion to make the coconut taste stronger without changing the bread too much?
Hi Ms Barbara can u used a package of powder coconut milk in this recipe or u suggest using the can milk is better,an if so how many pack do I need to use?
Hi again Fitange, Silly me, I thought I told you the name of the show. It is the Onepotchefshow. I adore the host David. I just wish he'd show us more face time on camera. Thanks for the names of the others I'm looking them up and subscribing right away. I love looking at other cooking shows as much as I love making mine. In my other business (the one that feed us :) I have a famous Australian customer too. Kevin Murphy the hair care guy. We silk screen his bottles. Wonderful to have you.
Wonderful I can't wait to see you make more breads. Can you make a banana bread please? Yea bread is my worst enemy also.. I havnt touched regular bread though in over a year, I now eat ezekiel bread as part of my diet due to my training.
Hi Fitange, I love that bread. I normally get it from the SDA people at our local city fair once a year. Are you Belizean living abroad in Australia or are you Australian? There's another RUclipsr who lives in Australia that has a very successful cooking show. I am a big fan of his show and fashion my show somewhat off of his. I simple adore him. :)
I love this video!!!! My mother is from Belize, and right now im at school so i miss her cooking... I wanted to try to make the bread my self @ school .. how much flour do you think I need to make about 2-4 bun sizes bread?

Bare pantry: I can't wait to fix the johnny cakes. My friends back in San Diego used to make it and I haven't had it in a very long time. Thanks Audrey
Audrey Finley-Ramey Hey Audrey you can use any milk (not condensed of course) but coconut milk is best. Good luck!!
Could you give us a link for the recipes please. You did for the johnny cake. It looks fabulous and i will be having a go. Thank you so much.
Love your videos but they would be so much better if you posted the ingredients and measurements in the description
I put say what I’m using in the videos. After writing the recipes for my books. It feels very tedious to write the again in the description.

Hi again Fitange, Silly me, I thought I told you the name of the show. It is the Onepotchefshow. I adore the host David. I just wish he'd show us more face time on camera. Hi. I use a translator to understand the recipe. Can you help me and give me the recipe?. I can not understand. Tks
Does it taste sweet
Question is this creole bread or bun? No salt but you used sugar I don't get it..
Will my bread mess up if I use self rising yeast? It’s all I have.
I completely agree with you and if anyone can do it I know you can :)
Wonderful I can't wait to see you make more breads. Can you make a banana bread please? Yea bread is my worst enemy also.. I havnt touched regular bread though in over a year, I now eat ezekiel bread as part of my diet due to my training.

The water that’s being added should be warm?
Question do think I could make these into tools. I have a party next weekend and would love to serve this
I love this video!!!! My mother is from Belize, and right now im at school so i miss her cooking... I wanted to try to make the bread my self @ school .. how much flour do you think I need to make about 2-4 bun sizes bread?
What temp on the oven???
How long would you estimate kneading it?
9 3/4 cups flour
Hi I have a question can I use. Coconut oil instead of butter I can't butter but I will love to make it.
Hello I'm a family of four I would like to make two loaf of bread how much flour and yeast would I use and coconut milk
I would cut the recipe in half or follow her video for making 1/2 creole bun
Why no salt but sugar if you are making bread and not bun?
Hi Willyboy100, I'm afraid, I'm not familiar with a bread with coconut in it. My mom is in Belize right now, so when she calls I'll ask her to investigate for me. I'll get back to you as soon as I know a bit more. :)
Where is the recipe?
For some reason I could only put in a little water instead of a cup because it would have been way too sticky...I hope that doesn’t mess up the outcome :(
You did the right thing. You don't want it too wet.
The Bare Pantry Show I just finished baking it and it came out so soft and perfect! Thank you!
Anyone knows if i can switch it to coconut powder instead with water?
yes
Hello again. How many cups of flour did u use? Thank you
So, this bread does not need salt?
can i use coconut oil instead of butter?
It doesn't react the same way as the butter. It changes the texture of the bread.
You should never use hot water from the faucet for cooking ..
6 oz of milk is far from enough for half recipe. Had to add an extra 6 to 8 oz. Thanks though
Tried this recipe. Bread came out nice but didn't didn't taste good because the recipe didn't call for salt. Salt give food taste.
Sorry I cant eat butter thanks
