- Bessey continue to produce brilliant clamps and the K Body Revo is no exception. The parallel action, with replaceable soft faces, makes clamping very easy. The Revo clamps have a number of additional features that make them the most versatile and long term value for money of any clamps in the market today. They are made of the finest steel.
The first video that I have seen that shows the smaller clamps. Thanks very much. This was a great video on the Bessy camps.
Hi Jimbo, Many thanks. Peter
Peter did a great job. I have several clamps from other manufactures. Last night I was clamping a closet shelf system and I noticed that the Jorg's were not exactly parallel which surprised me, but the Besseys that were also being used in the same clamping were exactly parallel. The Bessey clamps made it possible to clamp perfectly, the Jorg's would have left a mess for me. Peter sold me on Bessey, and the British accent made me feel chipper!
+David Smith Hi David, You are very kind. You cannot go wrong with Bessey clamps. I owe my introduction to them to Norm Abram - a guy I really want to meet. Cheers. Peter
Very handy interview. Was wanting to buy the Jet clamps because of the bench dog feature, although I was puzzling about how to attach it my MFT table. This is even better!
Hi Raj, Many thanks. Peter
Great review, answered my queries within the first few minutes of your review. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Matthew, I was very tempted to sell off my old K Body clamps when I saw how good the Revos are but those clamps are so well made I will continue to use them. Most of my non-Bessey clamps have been sold off but a few are in a drawer and unlikely to see the light of day again. Thanks for watching. Peter
An excellent video Peter. I have 4 Bessey Revo clamps as well as several other Bessey clamps and they are the best clamps I have. Until I watched this video I had no idea of the accessories available for the Revo. Time to make a trip to the store to get some of the accessories. I could have used 2 or 3 of them today! Thank you very much for the great review.
Ron
Gosh, 30 K Body clamps - I have just 16 which is why I am slowly getting some of the Revos. I thought that I only started to buy Bessey after seeing Norm Abram using them on TV but I have looked closely at some of my old screw clamps to discover that they are Bessey as well. Peter
Really good review Peter with lots of tips. I've never thought of using clamps as a vice. Thanks.
Hi Klaus, I have a video about making a vice out of a pair of quick claps which you might like to find. Peter
Good video illustrating the versatility of Bessey clamps.
Thanks again for another good video. I recently spent a fortune for these clamps. First I bought a set of 4 (100) from Kempton Park Show and straight away I love them and so I went to get different sizes.
+Tuan Nguyen Hi Tuan, I was at the show - say hello next year. Cheers. Peter
Thank you for this excellent review; because of this video I went out and purchased eight 50" and six 24" K Body Revo's and they're great!
Hi Anthony, I am jealous - that is a lovely group of clamps. Peter
Thank you for your kind comments. Best of luck with your new Bessey clamps - I first saw them in Norm Abram's workshop when he had his TV programme that I was able to receive via satellite.
Good luck with your video work. Peter
I have to say, Peter, that this is certainly one of the better tool videos I've viewed in quite some time. As I've been experiencing some of the downsides (for quite some time now) of the Irwin XP600 clamp/spreaders that we use on a regular basis, I'm desperately looking for a reasonable alternative. Although I suspect that there is a big difference in weight when comparing the Bessey Revos to the Irwin XP600s, you've clearly demonstrated that the evenness of the applied pressure is far superior when employing the Bessey product and, in the end, this (and the additional clamping pressure) is the most important feature offered by this type of tool. Thanks for this most informative demonstration of what the Bessey K Body Revo clamps are actually capable of. Keep up the great work - B in the Berkshires (USA)
Timberwright Svs Hi Timberwright, I have been using Bessey clamps every since I saw Norm Abram using them on Public TV. The new Revos are superb. I only have a couple as my old K Body clamps are still too good to justify replacing. As far as this type of clamp goes I will buy no other. Many thanks for your kind comments and support. Peter
Peter Parfitt Assuming that you've used the Irwin XP600 spreader/clamps -- or some other brand with the "one-hand operation" design -- will you comment on the major difference(s) between your Bessey Revos and the Irwin-type clamps? Is the weight of the Revos, for example, a lot higher than the Irwin-type clamps? I appreciate any comparisons you might be wiling to share.
Timberwright Svs I have not tried them at all. In order for any clamp to beat the Bessey K Body Revo it has to be able to remain parallel under reasonable load (so the bar does not deflect or bend), the mechanism must grip the bar and not start to slip after 6 months and they must be quick to adjust. Just go into your tool store and use both clamps side by side and see how they perform. Peter
Yes, I agree with Peter. The Jet clamps are good, but a fraction below the Besseys in terms of quality. For example, the Jet clamps do not have removable faces or pivoting accessories, and after only a few years, one of my Jet clamps no longer grips the steel bar when I am tightening it.
I'd buy the Besseys over the Jets in future.
Excellent video Peter, thanks.
Hi Tim, I have not tested the Jet clamps and can only go on what I have heard from other people. I think the comments were raised on the Festool Owners' Group blog. The report said that the Jet clamps were not as good as Bessey, were prone to failure yet were a little cheaper. My advice is that I know Besseys to be brilliant (I have been buying them for many years) and you pay for what you get. Peter
thanks for getting back cant find bigger than 600 will have to go with the k body revo cheers peter
Thank you for such an excellent review; I was considering Jet but decided to go Bessey thanks to this video. Cheers!
Bessey are certainly the best that I have ever used. Peter
Many thanks for that confirmation Mouppe. Peter
Great review. And they are great clamps. On sale right now at busybee tools,
Picked up 3 x 40's and 2 x 24's but I think I will be getting a few more.
Bessey makes some of the best clamps out there. That said so does Jet. What I like about the Jet is the locking trigger. On long clamps I have a hard time with the Bessey not slipping. Jet clamps won't slip and hold there setting. On shorter clamps I feel the Bessey are bit quicker.
whoababy11111 I have never had any slipping with Bessey in fact they are known the world over for being the most positive clamping action of the lot. Peter
Great! Didn't know my revos could do all that. +1 Subscriber
smwbiggs The Revos are brilliant but beware of cheap copies. Peter
Sold. Fantastic.
Hello Peter, That is a great video. What about the accessories? I played with some and I have to say: Accessories from Bessey? Brilliant. Keep up your informative videos. Best, Chris
Hi Chris, Yes, Bessey have done a good job with the Revo and accessories. To find out more just Google "Bessey Revo Accessories". Peter
A few times I have heard that the jet parallel clamps are better than the bessey. I can't seem to find these in the uk, but do you know if they are worth tracking down?
Hi peter i am looking for some uni clamps but can only find 2 sixes 300 and 600 who or where can i get more sizes from
Peter if you get a chance, check out the RUclips video from Bessey titled "Bessey Revo Body Clamp KR and KRV",
I believe that is the correct title. They show another accessory that has 4 blocks holding 4 Revo Clamps and they are clamping 4 boards with 45 degree miters. That is definitely an accessory I could use.
Ron
Hi Ron, Many thanks for that. They have some excellent accessories and we both agree that their clamps are the best. Peter
Hi Peter,
I have 6 of the Bessey k body Revo clamps. Allot of times when I push the 2 jaws against my work piece and start turning the handle (which has plenty of screw length to use) nothing happens and then the thread bottoms out the handle is tight but the work is not "squeezed" tight. Am I doing something wrong?
+fbtool Inside the clamping head (the bit with the screw thread and handle) is a piece that does the gripping onto the bar. When you close the clamp on your work piece you can increase the amount of "bite" that the gripping piece exerts by moving the screw handle closer to the bar and pushing up towards the workpiece being clamped. I hope that I have described this well enough for you to give it a go. If not, please let me know and I will include it in a future "Workshop Notes" video. Peter
+New Brit Workshop (Peter) Well feeling rather stupid now....I am not positive if this is what your meant?
I just tried it with my clamps. Lift up on handle, slide jaw up against work piece, important!...push handle down and then turn handle to tighten. I wasn't pushing down to engage the screw to the thread thinking gravity would just take care of it. Apparently sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't. Thank you for your quick help, I am now a subscriber!
Hi Peter, You don't know of any specials currently going on Bessey Clamps by any chance? Thx a million
I have not done a recent search here in the UK. I usually buy from Axminster Power Tools and have taken advantage of discounts in the past. Wherever I am shopping, if I am buying a lot of kit I always check with the manager if there might be a discount available - it usually works. Peter
oop's not sixes sizes
+Theoldguys 8 In The UK try either Amazon or www.besseytools.co.uk In North America try Lee Valley. Peter
Peter your youtube presentations are very very good, keep them coming. I am now a festool junkie and have just bought my first bessey k body clamps... Thank you.
