Cave of Kelpius - Cult in Wissahickon - Nik Stamps

- Johannes Kelpius and his 40 followers that lived in the Wissahickon Valley in the early 1700's is a fascinating story. It's the type of story that only gets more interesting the more you research it. So Nik Stamps has been researching and writing a documentary about this group for the last five years and will start filming soon. This is a short segment which has been airing in regular rotation on WYBE Channel 35 in Philadelphia. This is a short film for Paul Falzone, see credits below.

WOW...I was drawn back today, by "The Woman in the Wilderness" I heard her Siren's call! I don't know why I start re-watching my own work from 2001-2007 BUT realized John Kelpius mighta died in his dank Cave of Tuberculosis but for some bizarre reason I watched these films I made just today and just today I got a TB Tuberculosis Test today at the clinic! At least I won't die of TB even if I mighta been John Kelpius in another Lifetime but that's another story/Blog!

Hi, Nik! Are you the one who interviewed me (Kirby) and Jonathan Scott and made this video? Or is this and edited down version. I thought the one on public television was longer. Anyway, if you are who interviewed us and have copyrights on this video, would you mind if I upload it to my RUclips channel, giving you credit and pointing back here? So far my channel isn't for any monetary flow. Just want to post it because I am in it! (By the way, my own take is that the cave was a springhouse, and that Kelpius had a hut up the hill a bit. Also, I myself emphasize his piety and monkishness more than the occultism. I think that was likely his own emphasis, too--but much research remains to be done! Thank you.

Thank you, Nic. I saw the longer version. The one on Kelpius made me somewhat known in the area back then. Public TV showed it many times. So every now and then somebody would recognize me. (I am in Baltimore now, and so far nothing. lol) Will check out the Facebook page. We should stay in touch. New work on Kelpius has come out. I myself have two irons in the fire. --Kirby

Why would he walk down to the Schuylkill river when the wiss. creek was right there?
What do you refer to? As in he walked down the river to throw the box into? If so I agree and personally believe he threw the box into the Wissahickon Creek. I want that as it could be discovered. However that being said, maybe Kelpius wanted it in deeper waters to be safe.
