I remember when i was young about less than 10 years old. I would accompany my parents to their shop. Near the shop, there is an old warehouse. A lone guard, an old man living in a small shack just at side of the warehouse. It was enough to lay a single mat for him to sleep and put his stuff hanging on its wall. He was old and frail looking but he still has that strength to move forward. Every morning or afternoon, after he had his meal, he would sit outside his shack and sit on a small stool. He would take out his ErHu and play it daily. I would sit near him just to listen to the tune he played. I was told he misses his family back in China. He came to Singapore alone to work. That was in the 70's. That was how i was expose to this wonderful instrument. It gave so much emotion from the person playing it. I dunno what happened to the old man. Either he managed to go back to China or he may have died there. It is impossible for him to take the journey home with his frail body.😟
The erhu is one of my favorite Chinese instruments, and as a side note, I love the animation of the video. The player is playing even though they’re slowly starting to fade away (at least that’s what I’m assuming based on the smoke coming off of them).
@@dakexiaowang56it’s been adopted within chinese music since the tang dynasty so lets say its been there for about 1300 years or so? I’d say one could argue that the instrument is quite a bit chinese by now.😂
@@dakexiaowang56you should research on how cultures are formed, you don’t have to be the creator of something for it to be part of your culture, Africas weren’t the first to do box braids but it’s very much part of their culture now. Most things that we associate with specific cultures are not created by the people who use it most and cherish it.

By far.. my favorite non « European » musical instrument. In some pieces, I can almost hear the instrument trying to sound like a real conversation in Chinese. !
Each person will feel it differently for our life experiences differ. This to me tho requires me to close my eyes. The melody is very soothing to a broken heart lifting it. It’s like a mending of the soul. Very good control and range she has as well. Definitely talent with many hours of practice and refinement made this great quality of “depth stirring”. Gotta love The Erhu, it’s used in a lot of shows and games I’ve played and a lot of the tracks it’s used in end up being some of my favorites, genres being such as Dragon Ball, Avatar, and many others with a Japanese element to it, and I understand this is traditionally Chinese I believe, correct me if I’m wrong, but it works really well in most of the tracks and I love it
It is absolutely Chinese and am afraid you're mistaken. The Japanese would never use Chinese instruments in their music (vice-versa). They have many of their own beautiful sounding instruments and they would want to prmote their own culture. Btw I'm a huge fan of DragonBall,Japanese music, anime and culture and never once have heard a single Chinese instrument played in any movie or anime. Maybe in Avatar because it's made in America but I've seen every episode of DragonBall up through Super and have played tons of DragonBall games and there were no Erhu or other traditional instruments.
