oh, i didnt know that ekg's can administer shocks for vf rythms on its own. Is there a need for medical staff to initiate the shock or does that happen automatically? What happens if the electrodes come lose or have bad connection?
99% of the times, in hospitals, we use manual defibrillators, not AEDs, so they don't shock on rhythms like VF and PVT. We have to click shock in order for it to initiate, but in this monitor, it automatically shocks if you don't touch the shock button after charging for about 15 seconds. If the electrodes have loose connection, they will still shock the patient, but it might not be efficient enough.
