I don’t doubt that the AK47/AK-M runs good when it’s dirty but AK’s aren’t perfect and there’s been plenty of videos proving that the AK will fail if you literally Pour mud on it. The AR-15 does fine in mud as long as you don’t get mud or sand inside the trigger group or inside the upper receiver, the AK has the same problem. I own both a M70 and a Colt AR-15, and I love them both. I’m not sure how old you are but when you get older, you’ll end up respecting both weapons for what they are and not judging them based on Fudd lore.

I think an LPVO for 7.62x39 is a little overkill. I think ARs and AKs both have their place but comparing them is apples to oranges a 5.45 AK is closest to an AR but are quite expensive in comparison. And a 300blk AR and 7.62x39 AK are closest in comparison but 300blk is expensive in comparison. AR10s are quite a bit cheaper than your "druganov" style AKs. @@2amichaelj Any versatility or compatibility advantage the AR platform has on the AK platform is very easily nullified by the right parts placed on an AK, also completely untrue about the accuracy, for an AK74 the max effective point target is 500m, the max effective area target is 800m, don't conflate AKM point and area with AK74 point and area
The AK platform is more easy to field strip and maintain than an AR, and has much looser tolerances so sand and dirt won't result in a misfire, not to mention you don't have to coat the AK bolt in CLP for it to function correctly

@@dagome_prime Except it isn't outdated, as it can very easily fulfill the role of a modern rifle with the correct additions, not to mention its reliability and ease of maintenance / use
Also the weight of a fully loaded AK74M is a little over 8 pounds, for the M4 it's 7.75 pounds, so that's a moot point, also I don't see the logic in your last point, sure maybe if the rail is some flimsy dust cover one which will move around, but a side rail attaches directly to the lower receiver, I don't see how you can get any more sturdy than that

I know with the Midwest hand guard it doesn’t allow you to keep the cleaning rod. What I did was stick it in and marked the difference with a sharpie, then I cut off the extra & then re inserted the rod and it fit snug, don’t cut off too much cut little by little until it’s to your liking. It’ll be useless at that point but it gives you the AK look with the rod.. I love it! Much love 🫡

No. Unless you’re in a country that uses it as it’s main service weapon in which case - you can end up with a bunch of unique issues depending on how much you had to chop up your gun to get those aesthetically pleasing parts to fit onto it
    The bottom line is:
Any weapon is only as good as it’s supply chain and in the US - 223 far out produces 762x39
There are more loads available off the shelf in any store in the country of one caliber than the other
Even in mildly inclement times where you might actually need to use that rifle - ammo dries up quickly and when your ammo pool is small to begin with it’s not an advantage
    Keep in mind also-
There’s a reason the Russians stopped using 762x39 in the 70s and went with 545
Also, there are now more modern competitive options that do the job better
300 blackout supersonic is a superior short range caliber, as is 9x39 (which again replaced the caliber for the Russians use instead of 762x35 / 300 BLK)
