- In 1978 This Day Tonight reported on the first Geelong Pubathon. Fifteen watering holes with a 7-ounce glass of beer in each, spread out over two-and-a-half miles. Teams competed to win ‘The ancient order of the froth blowers perpetual trophy.’ #RetroFocus

Over drinking mixed with running in the heat and smoking all at the same time. Must be the 70s! lol

We had a far more brutal challenge at Austin College, UNE, in Armidale NSW. There were only 12 pubs and we didn't run, but a schooner was the accepted first drink at all, and there were very frequent "penalties" added to this. On my first attempt I missed a pub and was penalised four times - one penalty was a schooner of port wine and milk. I was penalised at every pub that followed. I gained legendary status and was made the official mascot of the rugby team. That was 1982 - happy times!
Ahhhh man, miss this Australia. I can't imagine something like this being permitted by the authorities today. 90% of these guys would've been RSA'd out of the running by pub #4.
Note the Winfield red falcon wagon promo car at start. They were complete lung busters. No doubt indulged in during the course of the day.

I preferred the good old "counterary" at the Top Pub in Queanbeyan. More drinking and less running.
used to be able to do good pissa-thons and pub crawls in melbourne in the 80s before all the pubs became gentrified.. the good old days
They reckon at least 20 bloke's broke the 100 meter record sprinting for the toilet at the finish.

Yes absolutely fantastic them days 😁 bring s back awesome memories my days back thd 60 70s us guys did plentiful pub crawls them days to raise money unfortunately them day's don't happen any more it's really hurts especially to day all our old local Australian pubs have for close today's Australians still enjoy old steak on the Barbie 👍👍👍
