Ip Man and especially Bruce Lee are easily the most overhyped martial artists in history and that despite the fact that their career as fighters (professional or otherwise) is basically non existent or at least not provable. They are both rather small (both in height and mass) as well, which is never a good thing in fighting. Most of the experienced modern fighters will tell you that both Ip Man and Bruce Lee most likely wouldn't have much success in the modern world of fighting, especially not above their weight class and not in mma. And a real fight without rules against a heavyweight mma, boxer, muay thai fighter, etc. on the streets would turn out real bad.
