Im im a very unique position in that I actually know what happens to a rotting pumpkin that's just left alone. Back in art school there was this still life installation on one of the walls that someone put a pumpkin on. Throughout the semester the pumpkin got progressively smaller and smaller, until eventually caving in on itself and falling apart. So, in conclusion, Dwight's head should have been squished by a rotting pumpkin.
