Derp... Yeah if you get snow, you can't cheap out on a shed. Here in sunny CA, I'm happy they have a cheap option without the roof supports. Obviously a shed in the northern winter will need to be stronger.
I was reviewing these and seen the snow warning by others here in Canada. The manufacturer answer was always "we sell a roof reinforcement kit that's 50% stronger". I saw a shed at Lowes and instantly thought it was too light even with the reinforcement. What really bothered me was some manufacturer remarks that they were not designed for wind or snow. Seriously, the manufacturer stated numerous times it was not designed for Canadian outdoors.
Thanks for this post.... I was considering one of these sheds and I live north of you in the keweenaw peninsula..... NO WAY its gonna support the snow we get! thanks again, helped me dodge a bullet
I noticed that a lot of houses in the mountains especially in the Tahoe area when I was a sheet metal roof had 18 /12 pitches that said the steep A-frame type roof but really handle snow snow loads in the mountains or places such as yours the code on buildings is 200 lb per square inch there's no way that shed could have done that so I would change the pitch of the roof no matter what you get will slide off or be strong enough until it melts. I just finished assembling one of those so thanks for the heads up mountains we get thick snow that collapses a lot even giant sized barns with beams collapse very expensive for repair $320 shed you got off easy right now it's almost a hundred bucks for a sheet of plywood best of skill to you not much luck is out there.
I would say I learned my lesson on unattended metal sheds and build it out of wooden or metal studs. If you lived there you would have been able to get some snow off before it got that bad. Mine’s going to be tucked under a huge oak tree in my backyard and I’m much further south.
I don't think you can blame anyone but yourself, you went cheap and that is what you get how much extra weight do all of the pine needles add? Get a wood storage shed
Every on-line listing I've seen for these Arrow sheds advises you buy the roof reinforcement if you get heavy snow. Do you think they just added that to all the listings from all these dealers to cover their ass because you called and complained? I don't think so. I think you didn't read it thoroughly.
Garrett White sorry for the delay, this was only the second winter before it failed. Since than I went in and built up the walls and reinforced the roof with 2 x 6’s

They do 't work on the Central Oregon Coast either because of high wind. My fell down so I had to build a wood one.
If you are selling a product, build it to be sustainable and durable. Some of us are novices.

Do they have an advertised roof load.
All flimsy metal sheds not really meant for heavy snow. It's understood.

Sometimes you just have to use common sense.
Yeah I agree, yes it may be average for Minnesota but for the rest of the country that the shed is built for it would be insane amounts of snow

Worst shed I've ever owned . Mine collapsed with first snow a year ago it was 2 years old and we didn't get snow the year before.
Build your own out of wood . Arrow sheds are a pain in the ass
Thank you very much, super helpful!! I live in Montana and will be getting a lot of snow also. How long did you own the shed before it collapsed?

Northern Badger how do you reinforce it? Do you mind share some info or video of that? Would love to avoid that. Thanks for sharing
