      Well if we take a simple cricket analogy it's one thing to be a commentator and other to go out there and score a century. If we amplify this to geo politics it's surely way too complicated. We as listeners need not be blind believers. It's just one drop in a sea of information that is floating around. Best thing is it makes us critically thinking and that's an important victory imo.

    In this war, western military dominance (not supremacy because you do not count a javelin getting damaged by Russian infantry firing or a javelin being seized by Russian infantry as loss of western equipment- you just do not count them) in modern generation equipment supporting guerilla warfare against Russia's mostly soviet origin ground armor and Russian Air platforms lacking defensive systems (like Directed Infra Red Counter Measures or DIRCM) against IR seekers/LASER guidance of western MANPADS and ATGMs. The western dominance in direct one to one confrontation of western armor and manned Air platforms (like F16s) against Russian modern generation missiles and Air defense and Russian modern generation ATGMs is yet to be established.
    There is a reason why the west has been dithering from providing Ukraine with its own high profile tanks (like Abrams M1A2 or Leopard 2) and fighter jets like F16s, FA18s, Typhoon, Gripen, Rafale etc that are yet to be tested against Russia's modern generation Air defense (S400 et al) and against russia's guerilla warfare with their modern generation guerilla warfare equipment (like MANPADS like 9K33 Verba and ATGMs like Metis M1). The west can certainly provide these equipment to Ukrainian forces with deferred payment option without actually directly participating in the war pretty much the same way they have provided Javelins and NLAWs but has not with the excuse of such actions escalating war for worse. It won't be a good advertisement for the western defense industries if an F16 or F18 supplied to Ukraine falls prey to Russian S400.

    • @sandeepthakur493
      @sandeepthakur493 2 года назад

      Agree fully especially the point regarding providing hardware to Ukraine on deferred payment because it'll be bad PR when Russian forces destroy the hardware.

      western fighters jets are far far superior than substandard russian jets, and thats the obvious outcome if one considers the extreme corruption in russia....only thing russia has that has some standard is the s400

    Abhijit's insights on Russian History and geopolitics is usually excellent. He missed out on some crucial details in his assessment here. The Russians have intercepted 5 different languages coming out of the Azovstal steelworks, indicating foreign mercenaries and possibly NATO officials trapped inside along with Azov battalion troops. Secondly it is mostly DPR and Chechen troops that are working the area in Mariupol and the Russian Army have been re-routed to the Donbas and other areas (Please correct me if I am wrong). His assessment of the Ukrainian army using the russian speaking civilians (and anyone other ethnicity im guessing) as human shields is absolutely accurate. Thank you for the content.

      The presence of a large number of NATO personnel, including officers, is one reason both Kiev and NATO are so focused on evacuating these "Ukrainian Marines". There will probably be a swap involving the civilians held there for the entire garrison or what remains of it with the Azov troops escaping justice. But there's also a slim chance that the Russians (and Chechens) will risk the deaths of thousands of civilians in order to capture as many NATO personnel as possible. Not being covered by the Geneva conventions, many will be eager to share information severely damaging to NATO.
