the conflict between wanting a cool well-hidden mechanic for your secret base entrance and wanting other people to discover it on their own so they can be awed by it
The design we used for the entrance of out secret undersea base about 8 years ago is a hopper minecart right under the seabed. You throw any item in a specific location on the sea floor and the hopper minecart is able to reach it through 1 block, passing it to a regular hopper which in turn activates a comparator. Very simple yet effective.
The concept of doing elaborately inefficient ways to hide secret rooms is near and dear to me. I’ve made and am currently making puzzle maps with the whole focus being finding these cool methods to hide rooms. My brain is exhausted trying to find concepts, yet your technical expertise and well designed presentation really got me excited and taught me stuff I did not know! I always assumed chains had the same box as rods. Very well done, it’s often the absurd unconventional techniques that are the most entertaining and wonderful.

Then, to reset (cuz I use infinity arrows), it retracts the whole wall so the arrow falls into the floor, and then it all goes back. It's SUPER satisfying.
I have come up with a different way to align the minecarts vertically that only involves two minecarts. basically you have a single uphill powered rail and place a minecart on it. since minecarts don't move on unpowered rails you can put a minecart on it and nudge it slightly towards the upper block it takes a bit of trial and error but if you get it just right the minecart's hitbox will be about half way into the first pixel of the upper block and you can place a second minecart above the upper block but not above the rail (so it doesn't snap onto it) and on top of the first minecart. my setup for getting the correct upward nudge is to place another two powered rails on the lower side of the uphill powered rail with a minecart after placing the minecart on the upill rail i then bump into it twice while riding the lower minecart.
Its actualy possible to use a pufferfish to push a pressure plate. How? Basicly you trap it in a minecart and nuge it si that when the puffer fish enlarges it presses a pressure plate. Basicly a larger more silent version of a skulc sensor

I wonder if with some potential refinements, particularly for durability (perhaps with even more alignment shenanigans allowing mid-side carts to be restrained enough while still pushing detector carts?) this could be used as a player sensor that is dependent on the direction of motion. To stop the minecarts falling off the wither skull, it looks to me at first glance you can just make the top slabs at either end into full blocks. Is there a reason that doesnt work?
I forgot those existed! These were only a couple things that I kind of thought were more untapped designs (ofcourse not referring to the torch and lever keys, just as demonstration) If you want an even more obscure detector, you can use a glitched waterlogged block using stickt pistons trying to retract an immovable structure, and the top surface is now a BUD.

What mods do you use to make your videos? I've seen you speed up the game speed in several and I've been wondering what mod you use to do so, thanks in advance
Carpet mod, it has a variety of uses such as adding rules like creative noclip and tnt not destroying blocks, but I primarily use it for speeding up and freezing time. snow layers? Snow layers are interesting, I think each layer is 2 pixels, and the height of the snow (the hitbox height) is always 2 pixels below the visual height. So one layer, 2 pixels of snow, is actually 0 pixels high. 3 layers, 6 pixels, has a hitbox of 4 pixels high. Except for 8 layers, because that solidifies into a full snow block taking all 16 pixels, not 14.
Damn, maybe I would have done it had you asked nicely. Except that already exists, just take a random birch farm like Ilmangos design and attach it to a wither cage (many of which already exist that don't use bedrock). Oh its the bowley 543
would it be possible for you to make an instant kill nether portal trap with an end crystal?
at 1:28 you probably tried to say "go ahead and open your door"
What shaders are u using? I really like the shaders in your videos

Just wanted to point this out.
reinventing the pressure plate be like
minecraft track but without any rails
To stop the minecarts falling off the wither skull, it looks to me at first glance you can just make the top slabs at either end into full blocks. Is there a reason that doesnt work?
“The thing is is that…”
the more is's you put the more is-er it is
Why didn't you feature a CUD with a container attached?
I forgot those existed! These were only a couple things that I kind of thought were more untapped designs (ofcourse not referring to the torch and lever keys, just as demonstration) If you want an even more obscure detector, you can use a glitched waterlogged block using stickt pistons trying to retract an immovable structure, and the top surface is now a BUD.
@@squibble111huh it seems my comment didnt get posted, basically i said something about you maybe featuring a design (i posted a 3x2x1 design in the tech archive a few weeks ago ;) ) in one of your videos as it seems like not enough seem to know about it and especially not about its powers (detecting clicks on spots like the empty output of a furnace/an empty dropper slot, detecting a redstone signal going into the air besides it, etc.)
Could you share the Alignement chart by raysworks?
Its under any video where he talks about new blocks in any given update. I unfortunately can't provide a link right now though.
What mods do you use to make your videos? I've seen you speed up the game speed in several and I've been wondering what mod you use to do so,
thanks in advance
Carpet mod, it has a variety of uses such as adding rules like creative noclip and tnt not destroying blocks, but I primarily use it for speeding up and freezing time. I also highly recommend Tweakaroo, Litematica, and also Sodium and Zoomify as more cosmetic and less technical things (performance and optifine zoom)
@@squibble111 thanks for the info
Where can I find this block and entity sizes spreadsheet? Edit: Nevermind, I found his video
I will suggest you make one with water
you down to hop into vc some time? I have a few things I made that I think you'd find interesting. Might give you some ideas.
I am quite infrequent and sporadic with when i am on, so perhaps just dm me or something. My handle is @squibble111, but it might take me time to respond
what door design is it
I love your videos
How exactly does snow interact with entities?
snow layers? Snow layers are interesting, I think each layer is 2 pixels, and the height of the snow (the hitbox height) is always 2 pixels below the visual height. So one layer, 2 pixels of snow, is actually 0 pixels high. 3 layers, 6 pixels, has a hitbox of 4 pixels high. Except for 8 layers, because that solidifies into a full snow block taking all 16 pixels, not 14.
8:15 what is that block
3d dripstone
In what version of minecraft java is this?
I play solely on 1.19.2, and will likely continue to do so for a while. Its where my mods are, and im okay without the new features (for now)
@@squibble111 Ok. Thanks.
1:28 What was that x)
I swear to God I will switch to apple
so glad im here early before u get famous
Noice!!!
Me who just uses pufferfish
W vid
You're cool
I need a wither birch farm
go desgin it
no bedrock
no tnt duping
I know you aint got better shit to do
Damn, maybe I would have done it had you asked nicely. Except that already exists, just take a random birch farm like Ilmangos design and attach it to a wither cage (many of which already exist that don't use bedrock). Next time be a little more civil and also don't hound people to make things that probably already exist,

Hey, I've got a player specific detector that I'd like to share with you. Perhaps you could improve it and make a video out of that, do you have discord?
I do have discord and I'm thinking of possibly making a video about player detectors as well (having recently designed a line of sight based "security camera"). my handle is @squibble111 same as youtube
